The game looks good. But, it doesn't run well. It is seriously buggy.
On a G4 with 1Gb of memory running 10.2.8, the game starts up, but then freezes when I attempt to lay track. Contacted MacSoft, looked up bugs on their site --- NOTHING. It would be great if it worked.
Great game - but crashes all the time

Really enjoy the game when it works, but it crashes so often that I can hardly play it. Using a PowerBook G4 with OS X.4.7.

I used to play this game all the time on my power pc iMac and recently bought it for my MacBook Pro and it ran slow as a mother! I was super bummed because I've got 256mb of vram and 4gb of system ram. Unfortunately and I hate to say this, stay away if you've got an intel mac!
Mediocre at best

When I bought this game, I didn't realize it was just another version of Age of Empires. The game now advances to the modern age and other than some graphic upgrades, the game is unchanged. Big disappointment since I've been playing Age of Empires for some time. Now you know.

Its fairly similar to other games of this genre. Lacks some of the humour and personality of similar games. Competent, reliably coded, and runs at a decent speed even on slower Macs. Multi-player games are fun.
What I expected (kind of)

I had played a PC based demo before, so I was acquainted with the game and it was kind of what I had expected. However the game crashes about 60% of the time as soon as it starts and I have to restart it to be able to play. I doubt it is some hardware related issue since the remaining 40% of the time it plays well. I have a 12" Powerbook G4 on which even much more demanding games (as far as hardware goes) run such as Call Of Duty 2 or Doom 3.
Great game but not very innovative...

It plays and looks much like Age of Empires. The reason that it's way better, however, is how far you can advance (in ages). Fighting modern warfare with tanks and missiles is very exciting. I also like the territory expansion; it's more thought out than in AOE.
The population limit needs to be removed, though. It's way too easy to fill the pop. with citizens.
great game

for those of you who had issues with the game crashing for no reason, i did as well. i downloaded the patch update (even though it deals with sound issues) and it fixed the start up problem.

This game looks great and is easy to learn and jump right into play. I founf the lack of a storyline a bit boring.
You can download single player scenarios or create your own to add to your game experience.

An impressive strategy game for the macintosh platform. It could stand a new version with better graphics, unscaled buildings, and in general much larger scale.
