MM6 was very good (4 stars) for it's time. I would expect at least as good if not better from it's offspring. Well, that's my fault. When New World bring's out their next offering, that's their fault, because I won't be waiting with my $$$$$$. Constructively.... 1) Kill, Kill, Kill...I just finished a full day of duking it out with truckloads of Golems and Dragons only to find a Barrow Downs full of silly little goblins, ghosts and such...whats the point. 2)The game is too much about gold and experience and not enough about quests and adventure. 3)The storyline is transparent and passive, partly because most of my efforts are centered on $$$$, experience and Kill, Kill, Kill but mostly because, suddenly, for the last 2 to 5 percent, we shift gears from a medival slaughter to deep sea diving and a futuristic Space Ship and the games over. NWC, you owe me an apology and $60 CDN.

The 7th installment of Might and Magic continues the TRUE RPG that Might and Magic was in the previous games. No the 3D grapics are not like the Newest programs, but for a good Role Playing game this is one of the better ones. No need to spend big dollars on a Pentium III, it plays fine on a Pentium 200, or AMD or Cyrix CPU. I personally prefer the first-person grapics of this type of game over the top down smaller characters in some other games. In this game you play as multiple characters, and can have others join your party, not a Single character as in some games. This game also has turn based play, which is prefered by previous players of the other Might and Magic games. IF you want total real time game play buy an ACTION game, RPG's in my opinion require turn-based play to be enjoyed properly. Total Action games might as well be played on CONSOLE machines(Playstation, N64,etc.) , otherwise you are not using any of the features available on a PC system. I hope 3DO continues to write games like Might and Magic 7.

I've always enjoyed the M&M games, beginning to end. Yes, the graphics are outdated, but I place gameplay far above aesthetics. Consider this: I just completed Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, which has GORGEOUS graphics. The same day I finished Morrowind, I installed M&M7 and have been playing it non-stop over the last week, and I am now 3 quests short of completing every neutral/light quest in the entire game. I love it, and next I'm installing the next game in the series and doing the same thing.
On the subject of it working in XP, ignore the warnings of DirectX, and switch the graphic rendering from hardware to software when you first try to load the game. (If you already tried to load the game and picked hardware, run the configuration executable from the M&M7 folder (use 'My Computer'), which should be in C drive, 'Program Files' folder, then the '3D0' folder, and choose software rendering. Next create a new shortcut on your desktop by right clicking on desktop, highlighting the 'new' sub-menu, then choosing 'create new shortcut' and point the shortcut at the MM7 executable in the MM7 folder. Worked for XP Professional, should work for you.
Good, but...

I enjoyed playing Might and Magic VII. The storyline kept you moving along, and the interactions with the different geographic areas made most of the questing fun and worthwhile. The game is heavy on killing and light on puzzles, I suppose I'd like a little more balance there. However, I'd like to commend the creators on one thing above all else, ARCOMAGE. A game within the game, played in the inns throughout the land, was really fun. I love the fact that there are two different paths to take (good/light vs. evil/dark). That makes the game replayable at least twice. Playing around with the character classes is good for another game or two as well. My only strong criticism is that the dark side quests were buggy, and I had to download the patch and restart my dark side game to get my final warlock and lich promotions.
An addicting pleaser in a proven form

Although Might and Magic 7: For Blood & Honor is not very different then it's predecessor, Might and Magic 6, it is just as fun. I admit that this game doesn't do much for originality, but I don't think all new games need to be original. This game takes a winning formula and just uses it again! If you liked #6, #7 is more then worth it. If you didn't like, or were ambivilant toward #6, then For Blood & Honor is probably not your cup of tea either.
Good storyline, Too many monsters. 3.5 stars indeed

I am a long-time M&M devotee. I played every game of this gorgeous series. On the last M&M 6, it is put on a new high level. But in this sequel, it seems to do the same thing without new surprise. To be fair, this game is still lots of fun. I like the storyline very much--- in the game, whevever you are so careful, you MUST choose your route between good or evil, and then become the foe and the killer of the other side. This is life. And numerous quests make you always has something to do. The most disadvantage of this game is the unnecessary lots of monsters. I hate myself doing the same thing again and again, accept a guest, kill the monsters, get the item. (In fact I am not killing the monster, I'm killing my time....) If 3DO company know this, this game and the following sequels(M&M 8,9,10,...) would be far more better. (But alas, I just purchased a copy of M&M 8, and the monsters seem to be even far more.)

I admit the graphics on Might & Magic VI are downright ugly. They're hidious, consdering this game was released in 1999, NOT three-five years ago. The game is mostly a hack 'n slash feast, endless monsters berate you...but I love it! I've played so-called 'great' RPGs (Diablo, Baldur's Gate) and although those games are good, something about the Might & Magic series, 7 included, I like better. If you really like killing tons of different monsters, then this is a great game. If you don't, however, you could be in trouble.
A rehash of MM6, with a really bad 3D engine

More of MM6, with a "new" 3D engine that causes more problems than it is supposed to solve. The poor 3D implementation makes it virtually unplayable. MM6 was worth the money. You couldn't pay me to buy this game again.
It feels like someone stole my money.

I guess I was spoiled, after playing Baldurs Gate and Diablo. The 3d perspective was poorly done, combat was tedious and hard to manage. The story seemed without a real plot. I really cant believe a company can release a product like this. Stay away.

In what seems to be a swap, MM 7 lacks the variety of MM 6, but it follows through with the story and your own choices much farther.
After defeating the Devils on Engoth, you must travel through Erathia, cleansing the land and ridding the now fallen Temple of Baa. Along the way you will have to choose sides to fight on, make allies, pick a Judge, and decide whether your fate lies in the Dark Path or the Light Path.
I missed some of the MM 6 elements that were not present in this game (the variety of armor/items/weapons) but I was pleased to see them tidy up the graphics and focus more on the story. A worthy follow up and a new direction for the series it seems.
