The Warriors IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 8 / 11

I bought this game from EB which you shouldn't go to. It's somewhat like Manhunt but not as creepy. The Warriors is so cool and if you liked San Andreas you can do much more stuff than that you can mug people, steal car radios, and steal from stores. This game has a lot of blood and the graphics are ok but it's definitely a 5 star game. BUY IT!!!!!

Can you count, suckas?

I never watched the movie until I played the game. Kind of backwards, I know, but the game is just so much fun. The graphics aren't anything really special, but the lack of graphical power is more than made up by sheer fun. The framerate is excellent, even when you have like 20-25 guys fighting, throwing stuff, and running around on screen all at once. The game is well-paced, and by the third level, you will know all the moves and it will feel like you are one bad mother!

Play this game, it is worth the $50 because a lot of extras are included as well. Plus, you can play through the entire story with 2 people! Twice the fun! If you liked Shaolin Monks or Bouncer, play this game. The Warriors is what Shaolin Monks and Bouncer should have been.

stunning...

this game is one of the best video games i have ever played. there is NOTHING wrong with this game. im not exaggerating. although i only rented it (and beat it), i wish i had actually bought it.
The Warriors follows the movies plot. there are tons of things to do (mug people, tag buildings, steal radios from cars, break into stores and take everything...) and thats just in coney island!
There are lots of different kinds of missions: stealth(reminds me of manhunt in a way), "rumbles", a few boss fights, and there are times when there is a train, car, bus, or the baseball furies are chasing you so you gotta haul ass.
the game doesnt start with cyrus getting killed. most of the game is played during the events that lead up to the murder, which is NOT a bad thing.
you can make the Warriors stronger by working out in their hangout. after every mission you complete, you will most likely unlock something. my favorite unlockables are the flashback missions that let you see how the warriors was started and how a bunch of members joined.
multiplayer is awesome as well. there is the basic deathmatch, but there is also a bunch of minigames, like capture the flag, but the "flag" is actually Mercy, who you meet in single player mode.
you can create gangs with people you unlock, and use the gangs you create in multiplayer.
all in all, BUY THIS GAME!

Making an old favorite that much better.

I heard a rumor about this game months and months ago. I tried to keep an eye out, but i rarely get the scoop anymore. Especialy because all of the independent game stores in my area closed. So when i heard they announced a release date i rushed to the site and watched everyhting. I was excited. My excitement has not ended.

By this point i'm sure you have an idea of what the warriors is about, but allow me to indulge in case you don't. The warriors should own NYC. They prove it July 13th 1979 when they are wrongly accused of murder of a pretty heavy cat, and must make it from one side of the city to other. Back home to Coney island. Needless to say they make it back, but this game allows you to explore a little deeper into gang life in 1979.

I started the game on the single player mode. I put it on bopper, the middle level and made my way through every mission. Graphically the game is awesome. Every area is detailed and for the most part the environments react to your actions and characters. Throw a bottle into a car window, and the window brakes. Smash your opponents head into a wall, and leave a resonant trail of blood. The game is supposed to be dark, as it take place about 1999 percent at night, but this even plays off well. You feel the street. That feeling of being under city lights with the warm summer air and a slight cool breeze.

The Game play is great as well. For the most part it is brawling, with low and high attacks that can be used in combos as well as grapple attacks. But going beyond that, every environment has other things you can do. You can break into stores, mug bystanders, steal car stereos and mark over enemy gang tags. Each of these activities are completely interactive, requiring you to do a lot more than just trigger the effect, you are forced to ensure that each goes down without a hitch. If not the results can be horrible, causing fights with the person you are mugging, or having them alert the authorities. This in part also allows for bonus objectives in the missions, and also sets up for a large part of the replayability of the game.

The levels are mission based, with afformentioned side missions. There is some stealth involved, but for the most part there is nothing to do but get your hands dirty. The combat is fast paced and on most occasions sees you and one partner up against anywhere from 5 to a countless number of appearing opponents. The afformentioned partner can be controlled by either the computer or your best friend. The entire game has a two player co-op mode, which is just brilliant.

Besides the main game there is a battle arena, which despite other reviews i read, is really fun on multi-player. "Have mercy" is my personal favorite. It's a brutal capture the flag that has you and an oppenent attempt to toss Mercy into your area, and pummeling each other. Other good Mini-games are from the missions themselves and include a king of the hill competition and a tagging battle where you try to lay down a three layer "burner" while having to scrounge for paint, and ward off enemy attacks. Just to list a few.

Beating the game unlocks a mini game that i won't spoil, but suffice it to say, it is well worth it.

The game has a great deal of replay ability. I beat it within a week of owning, and am still playing it over. There is a lot to see and do.

"... come out and pla-ay"

what an experience!

I bought this game the day it came out in October and heard a lot about it from some online forums just before its release. Once i got home and got started, i wasnt much into it. However, this game grows on you..quickly!

You'll realise the amount of depth this game really has; the deep fighting system, the hillarious insults from rival gang members, the huge assortment of weapons and the carnage of it all..very addicting.

The Story mode is the real meat of the game here and is worth definitely more than one playthrough. There is so much variety; from beating down rival gangs for revenge, to raiding territory, to running for your life, there are many hours to be spent in Story.

Heres my score for the individual qualities of The Warriors:

Graphics: 8/10 - Critics dissed the graphics but i say "who cares", theyre average if decent and, infact, are probably for the best due to the lack of slowdown even with massive amounts of action going on at times.

Sound: 9/10 - The FX are perfect, you can just hear the pain and anguish after beating the **** out of someone here, but for music i wouldve liked to hear more punk or metal tunes but what is here is not bad.

Gameplay: 10/10 - The game shines here. There are just so many ways to annihlate an opponent and the nice variety of weapons. Story mode is the backbone of this game, and it has not one dull moment i can think of. Its also very challenging near the end: good learning curve.

Fun Factor: 10/10 - There is nothing more to say, youll be hooked once you learn the complex fighting system.

Overall: 92.5% - Excellent - BUY THIS GAME!

Rockstar games is the biggest developer in the video game industry since Rare, may they continue to dominate with their fresh ideas and brilliant designs!

You can't count, suckas!

"Mark It Zero" couldn't be more wrong.

GTA: Vice City came out before (October 29, 2002) Manhunt did (November 19, 2003). So your claim that they ripped a level from Manhunt is totally bogus. If anything it's the other way around.

I personally think The Warriors is one of the best movie to game.. eh.. games out there. Not to mention making it one of the better current generation brawlers.

The game is very faithful to the movie, except now you can explore stories leading to the events that took place before the conclave with Cyrus plus what we've already seen in the movie.

For a brawler I think it has a very deep combat system. You can pull off some really neat combos and team attacks. I think Rockstar borrowed some points from Manhunt in the gameplay department and beefed them up to be even better. Especially when it comes to the cinematic strikes. They look and sound like they hurt. A lot.

Big kudos on the sound. It's great to see most of the surviving cast doing voices for their movie counterparts. People like Roger Hill, who didn't do his voice for Cyrus, the person who voiced him in the game did a really good job. The sound effects are pretty good. You're almost always constantly fighting and smashing various people or objects, so I think good sound is key in moments like this. Don't worry, you'll know what it is your smashing and it sounds really satisfying. If you're familiar with the movie, you'll really dig the soundtrack here. It's mostly Barry De Vorzon's original movie score with a lot of the movies licensed tracks too. All really good stuff.

I think almost everyone can agree, the one drawback with The Warriors would have to be with the graphics. Though not as flashy as some of the PS2's more popular games' graphics, like Metal Gear Solid 3 or God of War, I think Rockstar did a very passable job. I mean, the graphics are going to have to take a dip if you're going to get so many characters on screen and keep a fairly steady framerate. Not to worry though, they're not the ugliest things you've seen. You'll be able tell who is who and the overall grittyness and dark tones are here that make the game look like the movie.

As I said before, The Warriors has got to be, for me anyway, one of the best movie-to-game games you'll ever play. If you're a fan of the movie or just into brawler games in general, you'd do yourself good to rent or purchase a copy of The Warriors.

My Personal Favorite Game Ever

Rockstar Toronto definantly has pulled it off. This is a great game, arguably the best of the year or close to it. This is my favorite game ever. I am not a fan of all the driving in the Grand Theft Auto series so I like how with this game there is alot of walking. Stylistically, the game is top par, bar none. This is a classic.

Another good Adult game from Rockstar.

It's pleasing when mature games are released, as there is such a plethora of titles aimed at the middle teen/child market. The warriors was a fun and worthwhile game.

Set in 1979 it's a prequel to the events of the movie and in the last stages takes you through the events in the film. It feels very authentic and the areas are run-down and gritty just like in the movie. You play as various members of the Warriors gang who try to become major players in the inter-gang rivalry in New York.

Missions usually involve beating the hell out of lots of people. There are no guns to use, it's pure physical combat and it's much better because of it.

GRAPHICS

The graphics are decent and much like GTA, the characters all look decent and like their movie counterparts. It's very authentic in the way it portrays 1979 New York as well. Widescreen is included.
8/10

SOUND

The music is again decent and suits the atmosphere perfectly. There are many great tunes here. The voice acting is excellent and nobody sounds contrived. It also has very realistic language that is guaranteed to offend many people. e.g
"Lets rumble those ****** queers"!!
"Rip his ****** nuts off!"
"Money, Clothes, pretty hoes, Big Moe can't be beat"Lol
This is great and is the trademark realism of Rockstar.

8/10

GAMEPLAY

The gameplay focuses mainly on the fight mechanics which enable you to do various moves such as fist combos, martial arts as well as ground and pound, throws, pins and the ability to use almost any object to hit the opponent. It's very satisfying to smash someone in the face with a glass bottle, all the hits really connect and feel painful. You get slow-mo effects when you do hard hits like bottles/bricks on the head and slamming someone into a wall.

It also plays somewhat like the excellent Manhunt from Rockstar in that there are some stealth elements. Should take around 15-20 hours to complete and ther are a number of side missions you can do. You can also work out, take drugs (repairs health), mug people on the street, rip off stores etc

There are some flaws though. When in a crowded area such as a bar normal civilians can get in your way and they can act crazy - would you run into the middle of a 20 man gang fight? Also the controls are a little clunky and take some getting used to. The police are a little unrealistic as they are all wrestling experts and powerlifters. The camera isn't great and the auto targeting can often be frustrating.
8/10

OVERALL

A nice release from Rockstar that plays well and is memorable thanks to it's realism and very fun fights. The characters are great, the other teams varied and interesting (An all female team!) and it's a decent purchase.

8/10

I havent seen the movie but i hope to soon. This game is a mixture of grand theft auto san andreas and a little bit of manhunt. The graphics are okay but they could be better. You are in a gang called "The Warriors" there a pretty tough gang. You can spray paint walls, steal car radios, rob stores, get drugs, and tons more! The story line is great of what I hear its just like the movies stroy line. You are against other gangs also.So if you liked any of the grand theft auto games you will love this game the same publishers made it (rockstar) and its almost just like gta san andreas in a way.

Rockstar does it again

This game is great. You can mug people, steal car radios, rob stores, spraypaint, buy drugs, and of course KILL PEOPLE. The environment is more like a manhunt look But it's 100x less creepier. The grafics are ok, the combat is great, the story is great, the missions are fun, and the voice acting is good. There are no guns in this game but that never bothered me. You can use knives, machetes, peices of wood, chicken, salami, meat, bats, pipes, bottles, molotovs, boxes, garbage cans, and cleavers. There are also mini games where you can have a turf war, a 1 on 1 fight, a wheelchair race, and much more. Buy this game it's great!
