I purchased the Beach Life version (identical as far as I can tell) when it was still brand new and am still enjoying it today. It is a welcome break over the near monopoly that Maxis/EA has over the Simulation genre with the Sims and Sim City series.
While the graphics are par for what was released around that time, it was the gameplay that kept me hooked. Sure it had its faults, but with a small learning curve, I was building resorts like a pro in no time. I personally don't like sim games that you can breeze straight through and a couple of the scenarios did have me retrying them a few times before finally passing them.
The music in the game is pretty good for the game, mimicking something you may here in Cancun or Ibiza, changing tempos between daylight and nighttime hours. And the sound effects are a nice touch as well from the vomiting of drunk guests and splashing at the pool to the sizzle of burgers on the beach grill.
Great Music--Fun Game

I loved the music for this game and the 20 bucks i spent on this thing when i bought a few years ago was well spent. Its the oldest game for my computer that i still play, probably because there are no sequels, but i burnt the music to a cd and can listen to it in my car. For the 3.50 the game is going at now you might as well just buy it to try it, then again you have to factor in shipping cost, but all in all a great game especially for under ten dollars.
Didn't run on Windows XP....???

I could not get this game to run on my Windows XP system. It is an older game and I got it for really cheap, so I'm not too bothered by it. Still, it would crash when I tried to place a building. A message to the company went unanswered - probably because of the game's age and using the patch did not help.

It is a game where you have to manage a vacational resort and of course as it is in real life here you have to take many important business decisions on the fly.
I suggest this game to people who want a try how it feels to run a bussiness resort, I tell you in advance that this will not be an easy task.
I played it long enough and want to share two facts about the game with you, One is that when you are playing you will not have enough time to do customizing, nor money to buying scenery objects, so you will have to be fast using your mouse, that is about micromanaging workers and objects. the Other fact is about the number of available buildings you have at each island, every island has different available buildings and it includes sandbox mode, you almost always not have enough money to build them all in such a short time. Once you won the normal mission you have it in sandbox mode, but the problem is you get your island with no scenery objects and those cost money that you can invest elsewhere and it takes a lot of time to develop your resort before you consider add scenery objects.
I found you can do very well with less buildings, select wisely in what you invest, each building cost money and it takes time to recover your investment and mechanics labour maintennance.
Play it, you will not be dissapointed.
I don't give a 5 stars because this game focus on you doing the hard job managing the resort while you see your guest having a lot of fun.
Very fun!

I'm very picky about games I play....I almost won't play anything other than the Sims....but this game really got me hooked! I got my fiance and his nephew playing it too! It's quite addicting. The scenarios are somewhat easy, but building your own resort from scratch can be somewhat difficult. I think it's awesome :-)
Very good concept...

This is a great game, with a great concept and fun graphics. Unfortunately, the game shudders every two minutes of gameplay so I am forced to change the screen resolution of the game. This happens on my brand new laptop, while on my home computer it works perfectly.

This game is so cool If you like spring time you'll love this game But The only problem was that it would glitch almost every hour Most because of the hourly playtime with it. And if you dont like games like simcity or sim vacation you probally would'nt like this game.
Not my type..

Pros and cons of the game...
Pros:
*Great plot,U have to become the best chef and beat the evil omni food empire.
*Quite fun since u are able to join cooking competitions
*U feel a sense of sastification when u watch people dine in ur restaurant.
CONS:
*GRaphics are a boo-boo,the graphics was blur
*There aren't there many furniture to choose from unlike the sims.
*VEry limited control-all u do is watch ur customers eat.At first,u will feell very sastified....but after a while u become very bored.U just wait for people to enter the restaurant and buy recipes from them.
I really wouldn't recommend this game beacuse i had very limited control over the restaurant.....All i did was sit and watch the customers dine.....Now how much of a game is that?!I got sick and tired of it after two days of playing.
