A good game, but the Allies are weak.

I have enjoyed playing this game. It is fairly realistic and the graphics are great. I would recommend this game for anyone. The only disappointment I have had is the Allied planes are at a serious disadvantage against the more maneuverable Japanese fighters.
runs great on a p4!

I'm running this game on a p4 1.3Gig, 128megs of drram at 400mgz, a matrox g450 3d video card with 16megs, and a thrustmaster top gun afterburner stick\throttle\rudder combo. the game is clear with great frame rate and smooth response. the only problem is that the throttle wants to start at 100% (even befor you start the engine!) Great game, but needs high end system.....

Unless you own FS2000 or FS2002 this book is junk, and I mean that literally. The author does not even use the CFS2 key codes but in some esoteric fit of idiocy he decided that the so called FS "standard" keys would be his reference. CFS2 manual which has to be printed from the disk is 196 pages of your ink and paper long. Nowhere is there a complete list of key codes, just two partial lists, one long one short. It's a waste of time, and this book recomended by MS is also. Typical of MS, absolutely typical. The operation of all their software has to be a big secret! Don't waste the money.

If anyone grew up watching bah bah black sheep on TV, was probably expecting a little more realism from this game. I thought the original Combat Flight Simulator, was closer to being true to the feel. The cartoon pictures and lame story line, was a failure in this second edition.
I think they could have done much better, starting where the pacific war started with Pearl Harbor, and follow it through with each major battle. Another thought is what's next for them. Not World War II, they've pretty much covered everything in two editions, it would have made more sense to break things up a bit, and pour more into the graphics and movies with two editions.
Overall, it has good game play, and is faster than the last edition. A plus for me is it runs under W2K. Get it and expect a cartoonish look, but good graphics while in combat and you'll be happy.

probably good if you have the system

this would be a good game if you have enough computer to run it. mine exceeds the minimum requirements by 3 to 5 times (size, speed, etc). When things get intense, the game stops. It can be just a flash, but it has been as much as 15 seconds. When it starts going again, everything has moved. As you can imagine, the gameplay is awful.
The problem is that Microsoft wasn't honest about how powerful your computer has to be.
It's great but to hard.

This games is great! The graphics are absolutley awsome. The only thing is that once you get farther in the game it isn't clear and then the missions are impossible.
Poor graphics and performance

On a 450 AMD with 8mb of video this game was a great disappointment. Jerky motion and bad graphics greatly disppointed me. It is no better graphic wise then my copy of A10, would think the image quality would have improved over the years. When aircraft get near ground its pixel city bigtime. The quality of the zeros off in the near distance is terrible also. Aircraft response sluggish. I would think the Compaq which exceeds system requirments would be more than up to the task. Will most likely return this to the retailer.
