This game is the ultimate in RTS. All of the new RTS games focus on beautiful graphics and cool cut scenes. But after all these years, Starcraft still remains the most refined RTS with the best balance and gameplay you can imagine. If you're a RTS game fan, then you already know how great this game is. If you're not an RTS game fan, then get this game and see the light!

I bought this game about a year ago and I am still playing it regularly. I am 12 years old and think that it is a good game for people from ages 10-60. You can choose from three diferent races (terran, zerg, protoss) each with their own strengths and weaknesses. There are enough games to keep you going for a year. Then if you like the game enough you can buy the expansion called Starcraft:Broodwar which gives you a whole new set of levels along with 2 or 3 new units for each race. The new units are fun because just after you think you have mastered the original version here come in these new units which tweak the game just enough so that you need to come up with new strategies and plans. Starcraft also has an online feature. You can play with a LAN,modem,IPX....... and then there is a built in service called battle.net which allows you to go online with other people around the globe and play with them. You can play normal games against computers or against other human players. But my favorite part about starcraft is that there are used map settings games on b.net. Used map settings games are games that people have made using the starcraft campaign editor and these levels contain a lot of programing and a lot of hard work. Some of these maps include the battle of helms deep, or the battle of minas tirith, or dragon ball Z, or the invasion of normandy. There are over thousands of used map settings (UMS) games and some are fun and some arn't but its a blast! Then there is the level editor which allows you to create your own levels with programming or triggers from scratch and then play them on b.net. I play with my friends and we have the 6 of us killing computers and defending helms deep. I would recomend this game to people who like games like Age Of Empires or Civlization or games with large amounts of battlefield strategy. On b.net my screename is Scling so ask someone how to message me and i could help you learn to play the game a little better. Overall i think this game was worth my money.

Starcraft: THE BEST PC GAME EVER

This game I got three years ago, and I still play it. No game I've ever gotten has had my attention for that long. The most for any other game has been a few months, but anyway. Starcraft is based around three races in another galaxy, the Terran, or human, the Protoss, and Zerg. I won't go into their history and specifics and stuff. That's all in the instruction manual. This game is all around superior. Single-player mode itself is excellent, providing hours and hours of fun real-time strategy as you try to defeat the skilled AI in 30 different missions, 10 missions for each race. In multiplayer mode, you can get onto battle.net where you can play regular starcraft against other people, or play map setting games people have created in the campaign editor that comes with the starcraft game. Some of these maps people make are amazing, ranging from things such as escaping a volcano to completing obstacle courses, all made using starcraft. The storyline is great as well. All in all this makes a great game that anyone should consider getting. You'll have very little disappointments, guarenteed. But even if you still don't like it, you can't sue me for that.

Probably the best game ever, for ten bucks

Starcraft and its expansion pack Brood War are probably the best games ever made. It's real time strategy war game at its very best, with tens of units and abilities to combine in countless ways without ever exhausting possibilities. Easy to approach but hard to master - this is the key to great computer games and Starcraft scores A+ in both. Along with a great gameplay comes a great story of an epic battle between three races in a science-fiction world, illustrated in superb cinematics.

At 10 dollars, this Best Seller edition of Starcraft is, in my opinion, the best deal you can get for a computer game. It would still be at 100 dollars.

Best Game of All Time

Starcraft is hands-down the greatest Real-Time-Strategy game of ALL TIME. It's considered a SPORT in korea, getting live broadcasts on tv stations daily. I have played this game for 5 years, and I'm still as interested in it now as I was 5 years ago. For a game that has been out since 1998, there are still more people playing this game than most new titles today. In my opinion, Starcraft ranks as #1 game of all time.

Something to note

Im a huge fan of this game and have played it online for several years now... although my computer has rejected the most recent updates.

The only complaint I have is that it's not really a strategy game... no real-time game is. When you play online, chances are that the victor will be the person who can mass the most units the fastest. Granted that requires a degree of strategy, but it really comes down to who's played longer and is more familiar with the buttons. Battle.net has done much to remedy this and there are many games available where the rules stipulate "no rush", which allows all sides to build their forces and then strategy does actually enter the picture. You also get creative scenarios with "use map settings" games, where it's possible to upgrade units hundreds of levels and you dont have to harvest resources. All told, it's a fantastic game that has given me much joy and my opponents much sorrow. Just be aware that this is not really strategy.

If you really want strategy I would recommend any of the "Total War" series, depending on your computer's abilities (in order of increasing technical requirements: Shogun, Medieval, Rome) These games are turn based, but when you fight battles you have the option to command your troops personally. It is real strategy, with factors such as weather, terrain and morale affect the battle seriously.

this is THE BEST game!

this game is sooo fun. i SERIOUSLY reccomend this AWESOME game for anyone who likes games like civilization, rise of nations, age of mythology, ect. i play this all the time and really think that lots of people would appreciate this game. you get to choose which species that you want to be, there are three options, and each has its pros and cons. then, you can play computers or other players over the internet, and you can work towards beating the game. this is a really cool game and i think ANYONE ovar about 10 would LOVE it.

A classic!

Starcraft was made by the same team that made warcraft, and it shows. But instead of the same old game with a different look Starcraft really distinguishes itself as the standard for space-based RTS games. The graphics look great, the main plotline's well written, the soundtrack is top-notch, a great game.

Two thumbs up!

A Time-less Classic

Of all the games I've ever played, StarCraft would have to be in the top 3, plain and simple. I first started playing this game around 1996 or 1998 when it first came out, and I still enjoy it very much.

Best Game EVER!!!!!!

Computer games were never very interesting to me. That is until Starcraft. My CD-Drive failed recently, and I couldn't stop thinking about how when I got it repaired, I was going to play Starcraft for at least 10 hours straight. I am proud to say, that I made it not 10, but a full 12! Starcraft and Starcraft:Brood War are the most addictive RTS games ever!
