The first Puzzle Game I liked!

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 10 / 10

This is a thoroughly addictive game. The graphics are great, and the puzzles are neither too easy nor too difficult. But it does get progessively harder and more complex the more puzzles one solves... One drawback (and the reason for only 4 stars) is that I have to completely exit each and every application running at the time, even those in the background (that's right: CTRL-ALT-DEL and close everything in the list except for Explorer and Systray) before I can play Pandora. This also happens on my other computer system. It sure ties up resources, but other than that: intriguing, and it has the power to keep you at your PC all night (no kidding!).

Puzzles turn into a dull click fest

The 10 puzzles here get really old really quick. Most of them are rehashes on the jigsaw puzzle theme or the sliding square puzzle theme. And that's the best of them- on the bad side there are some really irritating click fests like "lens bender".

As the levels advance the puzzles simply add more pieces rather than becoming more interesting or difficult. Solitare and minesweeper are much better Microsoft products. Get a copy of Uncle Henry's playhouse instead (the puzzles from 11th hour & the 7th guest). Those puzzles reflect a real creative effort.

Challenging, but could use more interactive gaming

Pandora's box is interesting in the puzzle type challenges it provides, however it has mostly to do with images and pictures (an obvious path to introducing their subsidary Corbis Inc.) When I purchased the game, I had taken it for an interactive 3D puzzle/brain teaser type games like that of Tetris. This game was fun while it lasted, but the puzzle and pictures got somewhat old after a few levels.

Pandora's Box-WOW!

I am a devout puzzle fan and for me this game rocks! I am a 30+ year old mother of 3 and this game relaxes me after a long day. The different puzzle types are what I truly enjoy-you don't just pick up a piece and place it. The focus point and rotoscope variations are my ultimate favorites. Anyone who enjoys a good puzzle should try this game. You don't kill anything, but you get to travel without paying hotel fees. Way to go to Pajitnov and Microsoft for bringing this game to the PC. How about Pandora's Box 2?

From a classroom teacher's point of view.....

Did you ever have a student that got done so quickly that you didn't know what to do with them? Was the principal's suggestion, "Let them tutor the others." Did you ever think that this student could do more than be your unpaid classroom aide? Well, this program can do many things for your student. It can give them better fine motor skills. It can develop their right brains. It can allow them to work in cooperative teams to solve a puzzle that may fit more into someone elses' learning style than their own. It can help teach cooperation. It can foster better home communications if the parent can work with the child to solve some of these puzzles. It can create a sense of unity and of teamwork between friends. It can do many things, or it can isolate one person on one problem at a time. I use it in my classroom. It is a favorite of the 8th graders. Many students will beg to come in at lunch to solve the problems. They work with friends, or they will even work with me! They love to work together, boys, girls, teachers; it's all the same. "Solve the puzzle" becomes more important than ages, groups, or discrimination! The Puzzles get harder and harder. The challenges get better and better. I love this game so much, I bought 6 copies for my classroom. I put my money where my mouth was. Try it you can't lose.

This game is really great! The puzzles start out simple and become more challenging as your competence increases. The whole family became entranced and we played as a group. Very addicting. I certainly hope a sequel to this type of software is released.

When is the next one coming out?

I'm not a big fan of computer games, but this one is trulyunique! It is much more relaxing than a game like Tetris (another oneI like!) that moves at an increasingly frenetic pace.

Pandora's Box is a game where you can take your time and enjoy! The pictures that make up the puzzles are beautiful and I like most of the puzzles - ...the one with the moving hole isn't very good. I really enjoy the Rotascope and the FocusPoint puzzles.

Another advantage of this game is that all ages can enjoy it. Children can be on an even playing field with adults as people have different skills with these spatial things. Math and reading is not required. It might be a good game for parents to play with their children!

Microsoft has developed a great game and it seems many people are enjoying it! It's the only one like it that I've seen and it's very reasonably priced.

I just hope that they come out with Pandora's Box 2 relatively soon!

Great game for adults

Sick of violent games? Tired of Solitaire? Myst got you down? Then Pandora's Box is for you. A game geared toward the thinking man (or woman), there is no violence or sexist images, just thought provoling games, riddles and brain teasers.

If you love a challenge this is the game for you. I got addicted to this game very quickly. There are so many puzzles to do and each level gets harder and more challenging. And it's not just random puzzles. It takes you through a story and a mission to solve with each level you complete. With so many levels, you'll be playing for weeks to complete it.
