I found this game at a store and decided to buy it because I recently finished GK3 and was curious about the 2 games. Now, I've had a lot of problems with Sierra in the past. For example, every game I got, broke down because the CD was screwed up. So I installed GK1 and right after "Day 1" appeared on the screen I recieved an error message. I was never able to fix it. But, later when I but on GK2, it worked perfectly. That's what hate about Sierra. But GK2 is a great game and I recommend it any one who is as in to Adventure games as me.
I'm not into long reviews...so...

I've played a lot of games in my life and few manage to come even close to the Gabriel Knight series! This pack includes two fantastic games with goodies you couldn't buy anywhere else and it's worth a lot more than what it costs. Don't let the dated graphics in GK1 fool you --this pack is a must buy for every mystery lover!

The Gabriel Knight Series has reestablished the genre of mystery games to a higher level, creating elaborate stories with difficult puzzles and abstract clues that make completing the game extremely difficult. I have all three Gabriel Knight games and love them all. Sins of the Fathers, although it has the worst graphics of the three, is easily the most amazing. Its compelling story about a series of brutal and savage murders related to voodoo rituals is enticing and intense, drawing the player into a twisted circle of betrayal, lies, and discovery. The Beast Within, which was noted as Game of the Year in 1996, is also amazing on all levels. Featuring actual actors instead of 3-D rendered people, the game plays like an interactive movie, while also lacing into it an EXTREMELY complex story concerning a girl's death linked with werewolves.
In essence, these games are some of the best games ever created. Their plots are astounding and their gameplay is without a doubt, the best it can get for a game of its type. Anyone who has a LOT of freetime and is interested in playing games that take skill AND brains, invest in this package immediately.

Gabriel Knight is one of the best adventure game series ever. The characters are well-developed and deeply real, and the plots are twisty, turny, and keep you hooked. Designer Jane Jensen is a master!
TOO MANY CRASHES

I loaded GKI onto my PC and after 5 minutes the game crashed. I contacted Sierra and they gave me a super long list of things to do and the game still doesn't work. I've sent them another note and still have not heard. Since there were so many good reviews, I thought I would try GKII - the Beast Within and received an error upon installation. Guess what, still no note from Sierra.
The game looks like it would have been fun, except I got tired of reinstalling the game and replaying all the conversation scenes over and over only to have it crash again.
Play catch-up if you haven't played these yet

While now rather dated, the storylines are what drive this series. Having played the first on a bargain bin several years ago, I found the second in a used store after coming to realize that it was out of print. Now you don't have to go through the turmoil I did. Both are available together and the storytelling is solid and the gameplay is fun. The graphics on the first one don't look like much by today's standards, but they both led me to this series, and the newest game in the series to me is even better than the first two storywise. Gabriel Knight has become my favorite series, and I will keep putting my money down several months in advance for a copy (the time delays for GK3 were almost unbearable). Overall, if you like games, particularly adventure games, with solid storylines, this series reigns over the entire market.
Purfect Blend Of Fact And fiction

The Gabriel Knight series will appeal to you if you love a game where fact and fiction blend so well together that you begin to question what is real and what isn't. The first game blends Voodoo and New Orleans together. The second blends Ludwig II of Bavaria, werewolves and Germany. This game will also appeal to you if you like characters that are meaty and juicy and not Heros and Heroines of Aesops Fables. The Gabriel Knight series have finally delivered a "thinking persons" game. Well done Ms Jenson!

Two excellent games in this bundle. The characters are well drawn, and keep you interested and involved. The first game is characteristic of Sierra's adventure games from the early eighties - blocky, hand-drawn graphics. GK2 is full-motion video, and one of the best examples of the genre. It truly will make your heart race.

For the price, this is definitely a game set worth considering. Both games are quite good, although definitely the second is the one that makes this buy worthwhile. The first game is definitely a bit ancient in terms of graphics and gameplay.
But Gabriel Knight 2...wow, what a game. I played it twice, something I never do with adventure games. But this one was SO well written and conceived, and it was recognized by many folks as a Game of the Year. It truly does immerse you in the story, and some of the final movie sequences are superbly done. Great locations, great plot, definitely a game you HAVE to play if you haven't already.
