I played this with my 4 year old son and he thoroughly was mesmerized. The game details 4 emergency situations that result from a meteor shower. You get to rescue animals in the Australian Outback, hikers stranded in a canyon, skiers/hikers caught in an avalanche, and people caught in a movie studio hit by a tidal wave. The graphics are great - better than the cartoon. My son wanted to do it over and over again. The messages are positive because it features rescue workers savings lives of people and animals.
Good, but not as good as the other Rescue Heroes games

I purchased this game for my 5 year old twin boys. They are major Rescue Hero fans and we have every game and action figure made. The boys love this game because of URV. They can't wait to get one from Santa this Christmas. However, the game is frustrating because it is too sequential. There are eight games. On the main menu there are only four games to choose from. Then there are another four games that are stacked behind the original four games. You can't play the second tier games until you complete the first tier game successfully. And then once you complete a game, you can't repeat it until you finish all 8 games or quit and start over. Young children learn by repetition. The boys want to play a game over and over until they master it.
Overall this is a good game and I am glad I bought it. However, Meteor Madness and Huricane Havoc were better thought out. Sometimes I wonder if the computer programmers who design these games ever watch a child play them.

My 4 year old son spent his own birthday money on this and it was not wasted! He loves it and it's a great game. Challenging enough to stay interesting but not too difficult for a 4 year old. By the way, his 12 year old brother likes it too. I love the adventure and the positive messages of the game, although he did drive me nuts in the car singing 'no one gets left behind!' over and over for at least 20 minutes.

My son has been playing this game for about 10 months and it is still his favorite. He just turned 4, and it is hard enough to keep him interested but not so hard that he gets frustrated.
Requires too much coordination

I bought this software for my 5 year old. He has a couple of the other RH software games and he likes them a lot. This game, however, was too challenging for him. The biggest problem I see is that the game requires the child to be able to maneuver the vehicle using all 4 scroll keys on the keyboard. During one exercise, which by the way you can't get to the next level until you complete this exercise, the game requires that you use the keys to move while watching out for falling lava rocks and clouds, monitor a fuel gauge, watch arrow indicators that help you determine where objects are in the arena below, and watch a scope that shows animals when you're hovering over the top of them.
I tried to perform this exercise myself and got frustrated. It's just too hard to expect even a 7 year old to complete this exercise let alone a 5 year old.
There are some exercises he can complete himself but they mostly require using the left, right keys.
I don't know who this game would be good for. Parts of it would be too easy for someone 7 or older. Yet some parts are too difficult for those younger than that.
Not Enough Levels

I purchased this game for my 5 year old son. The graphics are incredible and my son enjoyed all 4 levels. But the problem is THERE ARE ONLY 4 LEVELS. After a day of playing and completing all 4 levels my son became bored and has barely played the game since. Because there are only 4 levels my child became so familar with the game and what was going to happen next he has no desire to play. You can change the difficulty of the levels but that does not change the situations in the levels. Once again, 4 great levels but only 4 levels.
You can't pick which parts you want to play!

I got this for my 4 year old son because he really likes Rescue Heroes and it sounded like it would have some adventures for him.
What the description doesn't tell you is that you can't pick which activities you want to play. You have to complete one part before you can go to the next which just doesn't make sense for this age group. There are certain parts he has no interest in or are too challenging so he gets frustrated and can't get to play the parts he does enjoy. The graphics for the different rescues are very basic and each time you go through the sequence it's exactly the same stuff, so even if he could do it I think it would get boring fast. The only reason I gave this 2 stars instead of 1 is that my son has enjoyed watching it (while I play it). If you're looking for something your child can do easily by themselves without getting frustated - don't get it. Almost all of the play involves using the arrow keys instead of the mouse. If your child has no problem with the arrow keys, he might not have trouble.

Like the Hurricane Havoc game, this is game is also very limited. However,if your 3-6 year old is just learning to master the computer, this game is a must have since he/she will be given instant kudos on a job well done; which is an important lesson for the young growing mind and he/she will be able to master this game on his/her own without a lot of parental input. If your child is more advanced, however, this game is not for you since your child will tire and be bored with this game easily.

Anything Rescue Heroes is a hit with my kids and me. I like the non-violent orientation of the toys and games. The kids really enjoy the different scenarios and the badges they can print out. Pretty easy to use. My 7 year old is much more proficient than my 5 year old but if you have a kids who already plays video games or gameboy they should have no problem with this game.
