Don't be taken in by the blurb on the box or the screenshots. Yes, some of the screens look nice, but that's as far it goes. The game begins promisingly - you think you're in for a great third person adventure a la Longest Journey. You're not. The gameplay, story and acting are singularly terrible. There are tons of characters you can't interact with, the dialogue is moronic, and there are cliches everywhere. Sometimes it's impossible to know where you're meant to go, and the interminably dreary to-ing and fro-ing from the apartment to the taxi to the office is life-threateningly boring. This game managed to garner some good reviews here and there. Why? It's the kind of thing that shouldn't be on the market, and the reason why adventure game fans are so often disappointed. Go for: Still Life, Runaway, Syberia, Longest Journey, Grim Fandango, Amerzone, Black Mirror. Avoid: This, Legacy: Dark Shadows, Dark Fall, Gooka.

A must-have for adventure game fans!

The Moment of Silence is a classic adventure game. 'Classic' meaning for me, believable characters, gorgeous graphics, logically implemented and solvable puzzles (which recommends the game to both practised adventure gamers and beginners) and above all a great and intriguiging story which makes you ponder whether something like that could be more than fiction. And believe me, you will remember this game every time when reading news about privacy and security issues in our everday life. Although the story is set in 2044 the reality created is tangible already. So if you enjoy books like '1984', 'Fahrenheit 451' etc. 'Moment of Silence' will be right up your alley. The story unfolds while you slip into the role of Peter Wright and slowly discover that the world you live in is not at all what you thought it was. This game has got all it would take to become a great movie.

I also think the 'reminiscence to The Longest Journey' which is my favourite game is a tad misleading. If you expect a fantasy story set in the future with mythical creatures and magic you will be disappointed. But if you expect a hero you can identify with, beautiful and detailed graphics, a soundtrack you'll want to listen to long after the game is over, good voice-acting and dialogues which do not only help solving the puzzles but add more depth to the story - then what are you waiting for? Grab it and get started - you won't leave your computer until you helped Peter Wright solve the mystery of his neighbour's disappearance. At least I didn't and I liked this game so much that after I played the german version I later also played the english one just because I wanted to see for myself whether the quality of the latter matches the original - and it does! :-)

Moment of Silence played on my Windows XP, Radeon 9600, Sound Blaster Live without a hitch. The puzzles were well intergrated with the story. The voice acting was excellent. The plot was dialogue led but still there were a lot of things to do and lots of places to go. The action took you from New York to the Bermuda Triangle to the North Pole while investigating a future-tech government [or do I mean alien?] conspiracy. I found it to be exciting with a great ending. My only complaint was that it was too back and "forthing", to the park, to the kiosk, to Manhatten, to the Kiosk, to the airport, back to Manhatten, back to the airport, and so on. Get it and you'll see, but it's worth it. I give a B+.

This is a good adventure game that hardcore adventure fans will very much enjoy. It has it's flaws but the interesting story makes up for it's shortcomings. The voiceover work is good, the graphics are presented nice and the story is intriguing - you WILL want to find out what happens next. That's why it got such good reviews from the press, it deserved them. I hope they make a sequel. This game is much better than Keepsake or Black Mirror, but I would not rank it up as high as Syberia or Longest Journey.

A Game For Intelligent Adults

"The Moment Of Silence" is best regarded as a literary adventure game with its emphasis on plot, character, and dialogue. The opening cut sequence is the best of any game I have played with the possible exception of "Indigo Prophecy." Peter is just an ordinary guy. He simply starts out to obtain some information to help a neighbor. From the cut scene, of course, we know that this is a conspiracy game. Peter does not believe in conspiracies. He believes that conspiracy people are paranoid. When he finally understands, he acts!

This is a game of many long dialogues. The dialogues serve the purposes of advancing the plot, defining character, and providing clues and "triggers." If you skip throught the dialogues, you will miss "triggers" that will prevent you from completing the game. Do exhaust the dialogue in the antique shop. It is very poignant.

Of course, there are no puzzles to slow the game down. The game picks up momentum, and you would not want to waste time solving some dumb slider, color, or sound puzzles. Rather, there are problems to be solved. These problems can be solved with game knowledge, logic, and what is at hand.

The voice acting is superb, certainly of movie quality. The voices of the individual characters are distinct and exactly the voices that you expect them to have. Between the voices and the dialogues, you will remember every character in the game.

The graphics are generally excellent. Certainly there are some repeated stock scenes but no more than you would expect in a game of this complexity.

Finally, the game has a great wow finish. This is a game that you will long remember.

yes these are the guys responsible for that appalling druids game that came out a few years ago (avoid at all costs). This time they actually came out with a 4 star level game except...it crashed halfway through (the prison scene for who is playing the game) and there is no way out.

Judging by the forums quite a few people are experiencing the same problem. I tried reinstalling the game and using savegames from hepful fellow players but to no avail. The support level is appalling (no contact on the HP!).

This is the last game I buy from these guys, perhaps you should think twice before buying the mos

I wasn't overly impressed with this game, but it was still OK. If you want an adventure game to play while waiting for a great one to come out, this one is alright to play. Not extremely interesting, and one puzzle in particular is pretty ridiculous. It has great graphics though, and good cut scenes.

Not bad

While definitly failing at the usual failings of adventure games (pacing, voice acting, gameplay) this game somehow managed to keep me intruiged a fair amount of time..Perhaps it was due to it's futuristic urban settings and big brother plot, but the game did have some interesting ideas and locations, definitly not the steaming pile of dung some make it out to be, but definitly not in that rare catagory of excellent adventure games either.
