Well,
I first played this game when I was 7-8. Anyways I was little, and I loved this game I even begged my brother to play with me! A great game for young kids and older alike!
The expansion and the campaigns provide hours of fun for adults while multi is what the kids like!
BUY IT!

This is one of my all time favourite games. I like it better than Heroes IV because of the number of creatures, items, town types etc., not all of which are in Heroes IV. If you're into turn based fantasy gaming them I really recommend this, even if you have Heroes IV. Even though the graphics are in 2D form I think they're pretty OK (on this point IV does better). Also I could spend endless hours creating maps with it.
Fun.. Boring..Fun.. Boring.. Fun.. Boring..

When I first got the game, and played it, I belived it was one of the best magic based strategy RPG game i've ever seen, the graphics and music, plus the sound effects are remarkable. The game play itself is challegning and with tons and tons of magic to experience and choose from. Although I do not use the map editor a lot, but Im sure many others find use of it to improve their gameplay. However, after a couple of weeks, i began to get bored of the game, i actually stoped playing it for like a month because i had no intention to start a long game and end up not finishing it.... then a couple of weeks later, i insert the cd for the hell of it and played it again, and i was hooked again to the graphic, sound, and gameplay, i played the game everyday on and on. but one again, after a couple of weeks, after a brutal loss to the computer.... i stoped playing it, got bored and tired of it. 2 weeks later, guess what? i had a party and played it multiplayer with some friends, and i got hooked again, played it everyday, ever since, but i wont be surprised to hate it a few weeks later. All in all, the game is excellent, there are no doubts that it is one of the best computer games out there, my suggestion is to buy it, play it, and keep it in ur closet for a few weeks and play some other games, then get back into it, and so on and so on... its kinda fun... u wouldnt regret it...
One of the Best Games Ever Made

This game is totally cool. It is an intiguing blend of strategy, combat resource management, and all the other features you would expect to find in a strategy game. Plus the story lines are very well thought out. The original game tells the story of the invasion of Erathia by the Warlocks and the murder and ressurection of the old king of Erathia by the Necromancers. The Amageddon's Blade expansion pack tells of the demons of Krewlod building a mighty artifact that would put the world in an eternal fire. The Shadow of Death expansion pack tells of how a wizard named Sandro becomes a Necroamncer and assembles three artifacts that would give the undead total control of the world. All in all one of the best games I ever played.

When a game series that could run 3 times, it must be damn good a formula to run. HOMM3 still has that addictive "one-more-last-turn" till the first light of morning sun comes through your window for the "Old Guards", who prefer the I-go-u-go turn- based gameplay than the mouse-clickers.
In theory, you could play this game until your death because there are hundreds DIY maps (with the in-game editor, which is great by itself) in the Internet available for downloads, apart from the numerous scenarios and campaigns included in the collection. Though more monsters, more town types, more artifacts, more spells and heroes and more everything than the previous HOMMs (1 & 2), still you tend to figure out the most powerful creatures, town types and artifacts eventually which suit your taste.
Replayability of the game is beyond question but it is more questionable if you have time to play a single scenario twice given the wide range of scenarios available and that the AI tends to play the same turn the same way. (If you save and then quit and watch for the AI's movement of the heroes twice, the AI performs the same during their turns.) For large map, you might spend more time waiting for all the opponents finishing their movement than your own if you pass or do little in your turn.
Of noted interest to HOMM3, a new grail structure is available for each turn if you find the lost artifact from the map puzzle. The grail structure can bring special effect (more creatures growth for the town, higher spell power when casting magic inside the castle, stonger defense strength when sieged) to the town where it is built and in general, increases $5000 more cash per week than your opponents.
The fog-of-war is still the best feature in the game (and applies to the game well) 'cos it keeps you wanting to move 1 more turn to see what resources or mines come next when your heroes stride on the foreign soils and you don't know whether there is a powerful enemy awaiting you out there.
HOMM3 is eye-pretty, exciting to play and sometimes like a self-continual training for your true-life: Will you choose to be good or evil, will you earn more money or learn more experience first, will you upgrade yourself by sharpening your skills to face the next difficulties out there or you paint your own life by drafting your own maps, location of the resources and mines and the story (the dialogue box is editable for your-own- designed story-telling plot)...
You can easily find Multiplayer opponent in the Microsoft's zone.com but I always doubt if turn-based type of game is suitable for multiplayer at the net. The bottom line is that you pay three games for the price of one. This is the best bet that you can have before the end of the millennium. And there is nothing more satisfied if you struggle to win in a "historical" map of Germany (downloadable from internet) during the 30-Years-War period.

Heroes III Complete is the best Heroes of Might and Magic game yet. This one has not only the original "Heroes III" (The Restoration of Erathia), but also includes both expansion packs (Armageddon's Blade and the Shadow of Death).
If you're new to the Heroes of Might and Magic series, then here's a quick overview. You start out with only one hero and only one town in a standard scenario. You can also hire more heroes once you've built a tavern. You can build different buildings in your town, but only one per day. Different buildings allow you to do different things, such as improve the fortification of your town, increase your weekly income in gold, learn different spells, and aquire troops for your army. Once you've built up a good army, you can go out and conquer land and other towns!
I like this even better than the Heroes IV game because it comes with a map editor and campaign editor. In the map editor, you can create your own world to play on, customizing everything down to the last little Gnoll Marauder. You can even customize the victory and loss conditions. The campaign editor allows you to string many maps together--custom and pre-made--into one campaign. This is a really good game.
A MUST HAVE!!

This game is simply fantastic. I started playing it about 2 months ago and I am simply OBSESSED. When i first saw a couple of my friends playing the game didn't look so exciting. They offered me to play, and I thought , why not, I can just prove to myself how bad it looks. I sat down in front of the computer and I was officially glued to it right then. I just couldn't stand up. The games is SO addictive. I waste, but not waste hours of my life gripped in this amazing game. So many types of towns to choose, so many heroes to choose, so many different scenarios to excercise your armies. You get bored of single player, just go online and play with the millions of other Heroes III addicts worldwide. I just can't describe how great this game is. Just buy it, it is about 10,000,000 times more than worth the money.
more addictive than... anything

I can play this game for hours on end. If I beat every map, I can just download more that other fans have made using the fantastic map editor. A great day includes playing this game with a few friends while drinking a Sobe and listening to Queens of the Stoneage.
Great Fun

Heroes of Might and Magic is an excellent strategy gaem, and easy to learn. Even complete novices to games have learnt to play the easy mouse based campaigns within minutes to being introduced.
The graphics are very nice, although the music gets repetitive, especially during the long playing sessions, well into the night as I have played it, so good is this game.
The Complete pack has the expansions included, which make the campaigns more challenging, and I am having an enjoyable time trying to work out a winning strategy over the difficult campaigns.
