At a time when the most popular games cost $60, it's refreshing to find a bargain title that can hold its own with the big boys. Set inside a series of prisons, the gameplay is surprisingly non-violent. You HAVE to sneak around everywhere; if guards see or hear you, they'll rush you with pepper-spray and you get to start over (or to the last place you saved.) So the only way to win is to avoid confrontation and use your head.

There's a basic story that covers why you're going from prison to prison, and even though there aren't that many prisons (five) each one is HUGE, with many hours of gameplay each. You have to talk to all of the prisoners (and even a few crooked guards) to get clues for your escape, as well as barter for items you need, like lockpicks and cigarettes (cigs are like cash in this game.)

And there's MULTIPLAYER! All of the levels are playable over the internet or LAN, with several standard modes, like CTF, and ideal for this game, JAILBREAK. Trying to get out of prison when all the guards are real players, not computer AI, adds a whole new dimension, and basically unlimited replayability.

So drop $60 on a well known title full of expectations and maybe be disappointed, or buy this bargain title without expectations and be pleasantly surprised.

Alcatraz Prisioner Escape

The are two modes of play. Single and Multiplayer. In single player mode you are playing has someone who was conficted of a crime that you did not commit and you are destined to figure out who did the crime. First you must break out of Prison and then you are on the quest to find who did it. In Multiplayer mode you can be a prisoner or a prisoner. You go around finding weapons and trying to kill the person. The only down fall is that you have to use the keyboard and the mouse. You can not use a gamepad. So it is kinda unconfertable to keep your figure pressed on the Walk key and the crouch key and then using your other hand to kind your mouse to point you in what direction you want to go in. I gave it four stars becuase it has a good story and is fun to play and you have three dificultie levels to choose from. And if you beet it then you can always go mutliplayer. You have to bring your video accleration down. if you don't you will find yourself in situations you can get out of.

I have to STRONGLY disagree with the other reviews. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME, WASTE OF MONEY! It has so many bugs and glitches. I beat this game in 30 min and i have to say that it probably took the developers less time to make this game. Game is really fustrating at almost every part. DO NOT, i reapeat, DO NOT BUY THIS GAME! but feel free to buy from amazon though :) (cuz amazon is cool!)
