This game is extremely life like. A recommend must buy. Also look for the mission pakcs available. If you are thinking about buying this game thinking it is a sequel to RainbowSix/Rogue Spear series then you better do more research because its not. Also look for Raven Shield Coming out in February!
What a Deal!

What a great Deal!!!
I have GhostRecon and it's 2 suppliments. Let me tell you, this is the best tactical military shooter (It's really a tactical military sim) available on the market. I played all the other Tom Clancy stuff before this and it was really great (esp Rogue Spear and Urban Ops - grab the Platinum edition, whata deal on that one too), but the one thing I like about GR is that you can make tactical decisions on the fly! So if your squad of 3 or the other combat teams in your small platoon are "taking fire", hey they don't have to die because your mission orders [were unclear] during the debriefing!! No, this time around you can tell those jar-heads to take cover while you encircle the enemy position and wax them!!!
Oooohhhh Yaaaa baby - it's that good....
PS - PC Gamer magazine gave this one and Editors Choice Award and named it "Game of the last 2 years". I couldn't agree more.
good but hard

Now this is a challenging game. Most missions will take you 30 minutes or so and many retries to conquer. Most missions take place in a wide outdoors environment, and getting to the objective usually means fighting your way through multiple enemy patrols. My only beef is with the friendly AI. Often I took command of one team, killed whoever got in the way and them hid them behind something while sending out the other team. The 3rd mission, in which you must destroy an enemy armor column, was especially hard for me. I lost most of my team but finally beat it.

This game is excellent. Arguments about its difficulty are misplaced. Anyone who has had the opporunity to conduct small-unit missions in the field will appreciate how difficult it is to locate, move, sustain contact and survive against the enemy. They will also appreciate the difficulty in coordinating fire-teams as you develop the situation. If players want more realism in their games, than they should also embrace the required skill level along with the cool graphics, AI, etc. The game is not easy, nor should it be. It may take multiple attempts to accomplish a mission, including revisions to your team's plan. Why is this bad? There is a reason why the Army requires muiltple rehearsals before all operations, from squad to division.
The only reservation I have about the game is that it is pain to set up and play multiplayer missions online. UbiSoft needs to take a serious look at how to streamline online set-up and gameplay.
Best Combat simulator ever!

Ghost Recon is far and away the best special forces combat simulation on the market. The realism is great, the graphics are great, and the sound is beyond great. There is nothing quite like the sound of an anti-tank rocket smashing into a truck full of bad guys. The online play is great, and playing in huge matches with 30 and 40 players is crazy fun. I only have 2 gripes about the game: One, there is a severe lack of weapons to choose from for the general infantryman. You can unlock specialists with new weapons by achieving special objectives in each mission, but the tasks are usually outrageously hard. Two, it is REALLY hard. The enemy AI is certainly improved from the previous Red Storm games, like Rainbow Six and Rogue Spear. However, while the enenmy soldiers can no longer hit you in the head from 3 miles out, they now take flanking maneuvers, take cover quickly, and return fire in short bursts, making it very risky, if not suicide, to send your teammates into an uncleared area alone. But besides those two minor gripes of mine, I would say that you simply cannot find a better combat sim.
Impressive FPS!!

This game is one of the very few that actually forces you to think about your decisions! The enimes have great AI and know what to expect from you. You have to plan out your attack and learn from your mistakes. There are no health kits or body armors in this game, its all realistic...you get shot, you're injured or dead. It's nice to see a strategic shooting game on the market like this. Graphics are impressive and sound is great as well! I highly recommend this game!!

Ok, graphics enviroment is terrific, in forest or desert you will have to move to be recon or dead, then when you finish it, dont think that action is over, because in the web, begins nonstop action with mods and lot of pacthes that will give you a new whole game, NAVY seals, The g8 Special Forces or anything you could imagine could it be possible with these bestseller wargame, and is not just war, it is full tactical and military action pack
Buy it or turn off action in your life

It figures that one of my favorite games of all time goes, for the most part, largely ignored by gamers. The single player was great, and i still mess around with it even today....but the multiplayer, though it was top of the line and better than anything like Counterstrike, kind of died out...you have to go on ubi.com to play Ghost Recon, and let me say that, Ubi.com, let alone Ubi, is not my favorite of sites/companies. Should you be lucky, unlike me, you can get your friends to partake in MP.
But, that aside, the game is a gem among a sea of duds....quite recommended.
Nice try. But it's flawed and tiresome.

Typical of Clancy games, Ghost Recon's main claim to fame is that it requires far more stealth and planning than typical FPS's. But if you've already played Rainbow Six or Rogue Spear, this is old news.
Whereas the R6/RS games were about CQB in confined settings, GR is about sniping in large outdoor environments. In theory this sounds interesting, but in practice it creates some serious flaws.
In Ghost Recon, the enemy AI is so good that you're forced to crawl prone at agonizingly slow speeds, over vast swaths of open terrain. This makes for very slow, tedious gameplay. The enemies can spot you and hit you long before you spot them, so you spend all your time getting your team killed. Saving/retrieving your game is a constant necessity. Unfortunately, friendly AI is bumbling at best. It feels like the tangos are the real Special Forces, while your teammates are the Amateurs du jour.
On the positive side, GR does fix some of the complaints leveled at the Rainbow Six series. At long last, you can fire (and move) while lying prone; there are grenade launchers; team actions can be planned on the fly; and, the keyboard commands are streamlined and a lot more intuitive.
Dissapointed

Very good and realistic graphics e.t.c.. but in a moment of madness the Developers decided to use a Gunsight out of a Space adventure. This for me destroys all the illusion of realism. I have never seen a Gun on Earth that has a Sight like the one in Ghost Recon.
