Two games in one that are actually worth checking out.

These games are extremely good and I am not kidding. You can get both of them for under [money]. Sure Shogo doesn't compare to Half-Life but Shogo also has mechs that you can pilot and different weapons than when you are a human mix that with 36 levels and one freakin'hard boss at the end along with a great storyline and on-line multiplayer matches(team battle, deathmatch you know)and you have one awesome game.

Now along to Septerra Core a great no probably the best full American made original RPG ever, no joke. Again a great storyline a unique battle system and a different sort of characters (cyber-dog, space general, bounty hunter) and a fairly long game sure to keep you stuck on your seat until you've stayed up almost a day and need rest only to wake up 3 hours later and play some more or until completion. It's just that good. Buy this set and you won't be dissapointed.

Good value

Shogo is great, love that game. Septerra Core? Not so much. It's ok, I guess. Never got very far in it, it just didn't grab me. Still though, just one of these games is worth the price, and you get both. Pick it up.

Both great but not perfect.

I originally bought this just for septerra but shogo was an added bonus. I'll start with shogo.Graphics(then)4/5 (now) 2/5 in the beginning i was pretty critical with the graphics but once i started getting used to it it did not detract from the game. Story 4/5 the story was pretty good but i won't tell it as to prevent spoilers. Gameplay 5/5 this is where the game really shines. You play both on foot and MCAs aka "mechs".There are four different types of MCAs so you can choose whatever one you prefer. The MCA missions were arguably a little bit more fun. In case you didn't know this is a first person shooter.
Septerra Core: Graphics 4/5 For a 2-d game this offers pretty impressive graphics especially for an older game. While most of the graphics are 2-d virtually all of the special effects are in 3-d.Story 5/5 nowadays stories are decreasing in quality but this is an exception. Gameplay 4/5 gameplay was good but nothing amazing. By the way, double click the mouse and hold it to continue running. I like the magic system but u dont really need to use it until later in the game. The battles can get a little drawn out and tedious but you can take it in stride. Overall this is a superb package... don't be discouraged by how old these games are.

Something old , Something new , Something borrowed.....

This combo of games kind of caught me by suprise. I caught a glimpse of
"Septerra" as a short demo movie which was on a bonus disk with another
recent bargain bundle - "Rage of Mages" and after veiwing what i consider
a Final Fantasy 7 like title i decided to order it and give it a shot.
Well I,m glad i did.
The game so far has impressed me with it's unique take on the old-tried
and true fantasy genre. The story is a little odd, that's a good thing since
most-not all-of the game developers out there seem to consider putting a
storyline in a game is equivalent to catching the black plague.
The combat system is the standard fare of a console rpg, just subsitute the controller for a mouse and keyboard and you're good to go.
Graphics...well IMO really don't matter to me and these are done quite well for a 2D game. Now as for 'Shogo', i can't really say since I've only
played about 5 minutes of it and returned to playing Septerra core.
I do like the anime movie at the start of shogo though. I'll check it out
after finishing 'Core'.
5 Stars so far and a message for some of the game developers out there:
"This is a Windows98 game and it has more character than what you guys are
putting out these days......YOU SHOULD BE EMBARRASSED and ASHAMED of yourselves....GET WITH THE PROGRAM,HUH????????-holyknight8

Sweet!

So we have here two awesome games that have no reason to be packaged together except that they were made by the same company, monolith. Septerra core is an awesome console-style RPG in the vein of Final Fantasy VII, however it has some excellent voice acting, and top-notch graphics! On the other hand, Shogo is a first-person mecha game, where you alternate between missions on foot, and missions stomping the crap out of the city in an 80 foot tall mecha. Big Guns, Big Bots, and Big EXPLOSIONS! Doesn't get much better than that, and unless you're on your mom's old pentium 133, it's guaranteed to run on your system. EXCELSIOR!
