This is a great add-on to the IL2 (Forgotten Battles) series.
I was a little worried it was a generic add-on but the more I play the campagins, missions, etc I'm impressed to say the least.
This adds the USAF and RAF point of view of WWII for IL2 which includes pre and post D-DAY missions flying along side B-17's as they take out targets over Normandy before and after the invasion. You only get to fly the P-47 or the P-51 Mustang and not the B-17's which would have made this game 10X better becasue it would have added the Bombdier or gunner points of views of this operation and not just the fighter's perspective.
You also can fly WWI missions on the front lines in France and if you look on the ground you can witness the destruction of mortar and shell explosions which is awesome to see.
So here is the break down to those of you thinking about buying this add-on..............
Three new USAF campagins which include the D-DAY operation called Operation Overlord mainly escorting missions with B-17's to there bombing targets, a P-47 or P-51 USAF campaign with your fighter squad taking out German fighters in the air and ground targets and a nicely done Pacific campaign from the fall of China to the invasion of the mainland of Japan in the Pacific war against Japan!The latter is very interesting because you start off with a WWI bomber bombing a Navel port in Shanghi and can play from any of the four gunner positions to a pilot position to a bombdier position which is the first mission in the campaign to by-planes to the single engine fighters most known in WWII.
Then there is the German campaigns in a ME jet fighter protecting Berlin against B-17's in the last days of the war, to the secret stealth bomber the Germans used and two more jet/prop fighters all protecting the German homeland in the last days of the war against the Russian and American air forces. Great campaigns!
If you like COOP-Multiply mode then there is a on-going Battle of Britain campaign for you reliving all the major air battles of that famous battle we all know. You can fly a German Suka bomber or a HE-fighter pilot defending your JU-bomber squad against attacks from the RAF in Hurricans and Spitfires or Vis-Versa. I believe you can also fly the JU-bombers and man all their stations also which I have yet to atempt so far. Though, it would have been great if they just added this as a single-player campaign for the RAF instead of multiply-Coop campaign.
In all a great add-on for the IL-2 junkie like me or you. Pacific Fighters here I come!
