If you are tired of the dark, indoor enviroments of the Quake type engines and are ready for great outdoor enviroments with plenty of exploration and secrets then this game is for you. Do not let the price fool you. I am running the game in 1024X768 on an Athlon 850mhz/256megs ram/Radeon 8500 DDR/ Win2k Sr-2/ and it plays wonderfully. The only thing I notice is the occasional frame rate drop when entering a new area, but it is minor and probably can be corrected with a few tweaks with the video settings. The graphics are way better than in the first SS
Great Sequel

Let's face it. a lot of games we loved start to suck in their sequels. this isn't the case with SS2, however. great graphics, same fun gameplay, this is a great game. huge, bright environments, and cool sound. without the sound, the game would be much weaker. it picks up when there are a lot of enemies around, and every enemy has their own sound which makes it much easier to catch them before they get you, like the beheaded kamikaze, whose scream is the only way you could see him before he blows up on you. overall great game. with the new unreal games still a few months away, and no other great shooters coming out on the pc for a while, it's a great buy. plus it's really cheap, half as much as most games in its genre. two words, BUY IT!!!
Great Deal for the Money

Serious Sam: 2nd Encounter is how games should be done these days. The game is fun to play, looks great, and is priced to move. You have to wonder if a game this good can be put out for so cheap, why can't others. Buy this game and support the idea of good games for cheap.
If you liked the first, this is better.

The single player and Co-op modes in this game are excellent. The deathmatch is not even close to Unreal Tournament though. This game is made for single player action, and it is one of the best out there.
Definately worth the 20 bucks if you're an action gamer.
Serious Sam is a trip... and LSD trip...

I was just looking for a shoot-em-up game and this one was good. But, like many of the games, you have to shoot the opponent a zillion times to make sure they're dead... The graphics are fantastic, the opponent aliens are weird...but cool...Overall, I figure if I feel I got my money's worth, it's a good game. This one is worth the money...
Seriously, enough!

Serious Sam's main strong point is some great set design. A little cartoony, but the various cities you run though are huge, wonderfully detailed and beautiful in appearance.
Otherwise the game takes a good idea and does it to death. Sam is kind of like a PG rated Duke Nuke'em, and the game is deliberately not to be taken seriously. The standard FPS shooter theme is played out with the twist you mow down ludicrous hordes of enemies. Trouble is you've met all the types of enemies by the end of the first few levels, and the game play is set at being stopped at in each level by a door over and over and having to either mow down enough bad guys or find pieces of a puzzle (usually two) to unlock the door and move on.
The first football field sized alley of endless enemies is a hoot, but after the third or fourth one it becomes a drag. Despite some variety such as rooms that rotate or have low gravity the game doesn't have much of a plot and becomes pretty darn monotonous after a while.
INSANE!

This game is just, well, my title describes it. I would like to know exactly what these Croatians were on and where I can get some. Imagine your most bizarre dream (or drug trip) and combine it with Quake.
Yeah, Quake. This game really could have been made in 1996. Technically, it doesn't impress and could very well have been released as shareware.
But hey, it's cheap. I'd buy it just to see the guy with the pumpkin on his head and the chainsaw.
If you like "Serious Sam", also check out "Will Rock".

The game has great graphics and tough enemies, but after a couple of levels, it seems all you're doing is destroying everything in sight. The enemies come in such great hordes that you hardly have a second to enjoy the scenery or even look for ammo. So the main technique is to grab the ammo from the enemies you dispense with, hopefully close. The price can't be beat.
The only game worth the cost.

This is the only game I have purchased in the last 5 or 10 yrs which was worth the cost. I like fast paced, action games with lots of shooting and variety of weapons & ammo.
I like to explore and this has fantastic areas to explore, usually filled with bad guys. Some puzzles/problems to solve, yet I didn't spend all evening on one scene, trying to figure how to get beyond it. Challenging in parts, yet never boring or bogged down. I recommend it without reservation.
