If you have window's vista do not buy this game. civ 4 gold edition is required to play civ 4 on windows vista. beyond the sword, however, in incompatable with civ 4 gold edition. during the install it says there is a newer version of civ 4 available and attempts to download. this always ends in an aborted download and install. after 6 months of talking to the support staff for this product i've given up. i am cosidering consulting a lawyer concering this product. they are falsely advertising it as compactable with window's vista and civ 4 gold edition. do not buy this if you have window's vista. it has been out for over a year and firaxis/take2games has done nothing to address this issue.

This is a great upgrade for Civilization IV. The space race has been revised back to the previous game editions and is a fun way to win. The corporation option is also nice, acting similar to the relgious function in the games later stages. An enjoyable purchase.

Do not use this product if you use a TSST CD or DVD drive, the copy protection on the CD is incompatible with the drive. Although it may start correctly in some instances, more often than not it will attempt to load and ultimately fail. CHECK YOUR OPTICAL DRIVE BFORE BUYING! 2k and Firaxis support will do nothing to remedy the problem despite repeated e-mails!

This game is no doubt the best civilization pack I have ever played. It is also said to be the largest expansion pack for civilization ever. This pack is so big that I would say it could have been named Civilization 5. Its got lots of new techology advances, civilizations, units, game concepts and scenarios. One of my favorite scenarios was the final frontier. If your not sure about the game I would suggest downloading the demo. It offers you 75 turns in the final frontier scenario. If your a big Civiization fan than this a must have.
Just as adictive as always

The expansion pack is nice. I haven't fully explored espionage capabilities yet, but they certainly add another level of complexity to the proceedings. In the quick mode you can definitely get through a game in a night. A late night to be sure, but a night. the game play becomes a little sluggish after a few hours. Seems to slow on my relatively new Dell laptop. Pre expansion pack I had no problems with the speed of play.
Just keeps getting better

I have loved the CIV games since I played CIV 1, but fell in love with CIV 2, three and other tries just didn't get me, but CIV IV is unbelievable, and with Warlords, and Beyond the Sword I doubt you could ask for more. I have to force myself to stop playing this game I get so into it haha. Only reason I gave it a 4 out of 5 is because the maps just don't seem as big as they could be, and the tech tree in the regular game seems a little light. But being able to go more into the futur, and now even in space, I know I will be playing CIV IV for a long long time!
great addition to CIV IV

I play civilization since the first version (used to play in a black and white monitor in a 386 pc. good times)
I love civ4 and I'm completely addicted to it. I really enjoy the additions, the new civilizations (Why portugal was not in the previous versions??). The new tech tree makes more sense and the already programed random events are really cool!! I think that Espionage was neglected in the previous versions and this expansion made up for them.

Another great installment for Civ IV! While I enjoyed the previous one, this one is a must for Civ lovers. It adds espionage as another diversion and way to bring down your enemies.
Another piece is always the installed scenarios. Unlike previous additions that had simple ones you could make yourself, this one includes versions that completely change the game itself. You can play a space marine killing aliens, you can play a number of future war scenarios, you can also play some fictional mythology ones. They are quite a turn from the norm.
As always, you get new countries to play and new personalities. These are great to add spice to an otherwise regular game.
For the price, you can't ignore it... you need this and so do your armies!
