I was very disappointed with this game. I love the Resident Evil series, but this one sucked. Your AI partners are not very intelligent, they run around and don't listen to you when you need them. Normal mode is actually more like a "hard" mode. You can't really pause the game as it is live and the monsters come get you anyway, even when your in your inventory screen. The online option has been disabled so you can't play with other people anymore.
It was just a hassle to control three people simultaneously, two of which never listen anyway.
The only good thing is the scenery and surroundings. Also I liked how zombies could run after you if they wanted, instead of always dragging themselves around. Other than that, I really did not like this game.
A VERY enjoyable game.

Let's admit it, the first Resident Evil Outbreak had the BEST levels, but it was kinda blah after that. Outbreak File: 2 had a nice improvement. The ability to somewhat walk while aiming was nice. You no longer have to standing shooting while waiting for your doom. Some of the characters now have their own items that are just for them. That was a NICE improvement. The levels are a little more hectic now, but the alternate endings in Outbreak 1 were much better. The online play is good, if you find some good people to play with. I didn't mind not having voice chat or anything like that, it was good to keep the game somewhat realistic. It would suck, if you heard a deep manly voice coming from one of the female characters. Also people would just talk about other things besides what's going on in this game and it'd be too much like a chat room with zombies. I give this game a 5 out of 5, a definite must have for any REAL Resident Evil fan.

Like Resident Evil : Outbreak, this game was botched as well. With basically the same characters and same story. They didn't even speed up the loading times or fix any of the bugs from the previous title. I don't know what they were thinking here either. I only own this because it is part of my RE collection, but other than that I don't even want to play it.
Now now...

When I went to my local game store to pick up the next two installments of the RE series, I was told to skip these two (Outbreaks) because the AI sucked.
But I'm glad I didn't because even though the AI was at times irritating, I "turned it around" and merely viewed it as a challenge.
In fact, I actually felt like it added to the atmosphere of the game by adding a psychologically maddening feel. I mean really, if you were in a situation with zombies crawling all over the place, I'd think you'd have a bunch of idiots around you, some of them rambling incoherently, backstabbing you by taking items that you need, etc. etc.
So, it made the zombie experience more authentic for me. Since I played them all in chronological order of release date, the much improved graphics enhanced the experience even further.
I would likely go back and play RE:OB 1&2 again.
disappointing all around

Ever want to get into something, whether it be an old movie or a game and because of its relative age, it's a bit more difficult to find? Well recently I started to get into Resident Evil but only one I could find in town is 4 and Umbrella Chronicles with Outbreak 2 being the only one in the video store so I decided to give it a try. Well after playing it, I realize it's one of those kind of games where the concept seems interesting but it's what they do with it that's completely off target.
Story: Taking place in Raccoon City during the viral outbreak seen in 2 and 3, the game follows several ordinary characters ranging from waitresses to cops to surgeons and journalists, the groups go through several areas of the city trying to escape the city alive.
Graphics: The series, as long as other games in the genre, have always based their atmosphere through their graphics, from minimal lighting and casted shadows, the game is pretty well done graphically but it doesn't really have the huge detail the ones on Gamecube have and characters still look funky in gameplay.
Sound/Music: Voice acting is typical of the series: some are alright while others have laughable voices or good voice actors who have to do awful dialogue. Music is low-key as always with ambience and dissonant textures for the more quiet areas and a bit of bombast when enemies start showing up. The opening theme though is gorgeous in its hauntingness.
Gameplay: The games have always been about surviving and just making it to the end as fast as possible without dying and it's the same thing here. This ain't like 4 where you have ammo for everything that comes your way but rather you have to carefully figure out whether an enemy is worth killing. Problem is there's either too many enemies who take too many hits (not that that's new mind you) and can respawn. Plus in previous games it was just you against the undead but now with 2 AI-controlled partners, you constantly feel like you're bringing dead weight, even if they are helpful. You'd rather just do things on your own rather than wait for your partner to quit running to the other end of the screen when they're supposed to be where you are. Again it's another concept that just needs more finesse and polish than what we get.
Gamers who played the old RE's will either say the controls were easiy enough to learn or simply a big pain in the ***. These controls are more like Devil May Cry and despite its slow turning time and still hard-to-get precision aiming, these controls feel way more natural. The same things apply as well: illogical puzzles, keys and artifacts opening new areas and whatnot. But you can trade or ask for items from your AI-partner so if you'd rather carry the shotgun, you can trade it for your handgun. But quite simply, the game as a whole...is kind of boring. Even when enemies show up, it doesn't have that dread and suspense coming up against a zombie from the remake let's say but now it's just simply "oh great, another one" said in an unenthusiastic tone. While the games, and the genre as a whole, was never meant to be action-oriented, the tone of it at least kept you on edge while the game was on; now it's just kind of tame and same-y.
The spinoffs have always been met with mixed reactions whereas the main games have its wide acclaim. Outbreak File 2 is the same thing: if you're into Resident Evil, you'll give it a go but others you'd just rather replay Code Veronica or something.

As of March 31st 2007, capcom has dropped the servers and online support for this game. It still plays single-player but if your looking for a online multi-player experience then your out of luck.

Oh,my real name is Jordan R.Brown and yeah,I'm using my mom's account.Just letting you know.
I'm a huge fan of Resident Evil movies and games. But,when I first played this game,it was good and then I got it.I'm not even afriad of Resident Evil monsters but,I like Resident Evil Outbreak better but, there are some things missing in file #2 but,i'm not sure but, overall it's good but,it's just missing some things and parts that are making any sence but, yeah i agree with with all of you.
The puzzles are complicated but,I think "UnderBelly and "Despert Times" are one of the most puzzles one because,it seems very frustrating and confusing and plus, they are some characters that you need for those chapters.
But,I still think it's a good game but,I still like Resident Evil Outbreak better.Resident Evil is one of the best horror games I ever played.Resident Evil Rules!!
LOVED IT

Had so much fun with this game. Never did play it online. The only frustrating thing was that you are infected to begin with and you might get close to the end and die from infection.
Do not buy.

Capcom as of March 29 2007 has taken the game servers off line for File #2. I would highly suggest that you not buy this game as the computer AI is extremly horrible and the only decent game play came from playing with others.
Great Game

This is a great Resident Evil game. I have been playing Resident Evil games since 1996. Yes, the storyline is cheesey, but overall it is a great game. I hope Capcom is through makeing stories about Racoon City. I would like more Resident Evil games like Resident Evil 4. "Resident Evil forever!"
