This is the best game out of the resident evil serise. Althought i have not beat it yet, i can tell it is going to become a best seller. The new scenerio-type playing is better that the original way. The special abilities the eight characters have area the best part about playing. If you're looking for a good game to try'n beat then this is the game. There truley are monsters hidden around every bend and behind every door. AJflameboy2009

i waited and waited for this game. When i got it i felts so excited and could barely wait to get home to play it. It was so great but a little repeditive. It is still good (the best RE in my opinion) just not what i was expecting... well maybe RE 4 will be better. (...)
Disappointing, but still addicting.

I usually review cd's, but I decided to review this one, since the whole RE series is so damn cool. Also, yes. I have this game and have been playing it for over a week now. I'm sick of seeing people putting in reviews before the release date. I've also read a lot of the other reviews. It's funny how one person raves about it and gives it five stars, while another person hates it and doesn't even think it deserves one star. I guess it's just a matter of taste, huh? Anyway...
Anyone that owns a PS2 of course would be excited about any RE game finding its way onto their platform. So, naturally I scooped it up, post-haste. The first recommendation I have to make is don't buy this game without the strategy guide. I was completely lost and couldn't make it past the first scenario. I got as far as the rooftop before I considered returning the game. The guide helps a lot. Otherwise, you'll constantly be backtracking, going back to places you were sure you explored every inch of.
As far as the online gameplay goes, I don't have it. I'm still in the stone ages with my slow as molasses dial up. So, I can't comment on that.
The game goes back to Raccoon City. I don't really have a problem with that because the only other RE game I played is Code Veronica. Ok, confession time. I only started getting into the games after the movie came out. Yeah, go ahead. Call me a poser fan if you want.
The first major disappointment was the movement. After Code Veronica, I fully expected all the bugs to be worked out. I was looking forward to 360 degree camera turnarounds and zooming in and out capabilities, just like most PS2 games now. But, no. They still have it set up so when you move to the edge of the camera, there's a new shot. Come on! Video games have come a lot further than that. Get rid of the 2D crap!
The other annoying thing is the other players you have to babysit. The only good thing about that is you can trade items, but what happened to item boxes? Unless you're playing as the asian girl, you can only hold 4 items. to hold anymore, you have to discard something. Plus, although there are typewriters, they're not really save points. It only halts the game until you decide to play again. If you die, you still have to start the whole scenario over again. I know a lot of people have said it, but I have to agree. The loading times and waiting times between rooms is atrocious.
Well, there are good points to the game, the first being the selection of characters. Because there are only 5 scenarios to complete, it's fun to complete them with the different people. Also, the graphice are dramatically improved. There is also more of a variety of weapons and other items, as well as combat moves.
Overall, I expected better from this game. Ihey could have made more improvements, considering what's out there now. On the other hand, any addition to my RE collection is a good one. I do suggest renting this one first, since the reviews have been so mixed. I can't tell for sure if this is a flop or a hit for the hardcore fans.

RE outbreak is the best yet, the creators all ways out do them selfs and find ways to keep the story fresh and exciting. The online play is awsome, playing side by side with your best friends while flesh eating zombies chase you is the greatest idea for RE games yet. This game tops all of them and is so well made and put together it should be called Resident Evil Revolution, cause this is a new age of gameing.
pretty good

this game is probably the third worst game in the series (right after dead aim and the survivor games) and it is still very fun but frustrating if you play with friends online in the same room then it is extremely fun . but when you are with computer a.i. people the frustration begins. example when you are in the hospital level and you have to kill the worm thing your alies keep going in the chamber thing to die with it of course you cant just kill them too becausewell i dont know why you cant if its a survival horror game shouldnt they have to survive their insane alies too . ehh i dont know but still really fun to play but you have to be a die hard fan of resident evil to find the fun.
Excellent Game

Not much to say here, it's like analyzing a football game when the score is 50 to 0. The game has terrible controls(worse than before), laughable load times and it's boring. It's not scary at all, I'm serious. It also has no definate characters to really build a story on. It just doesn't have that tense feeling of serious Resident Evil's past. Even if you're a fan and just think anything with Zombies is cool, you will change you're mind. RE has always been about cool. This games characters and their constantly cheesy out of place lines get very annoying. Imagine a person climbing a latter and then in the midde of the act just screaming out " I don't know what to do!" even as they keep climbing. If you're like me you expected much more from this one. Just wait till RE4, it better be beyond good.

After Dead Aim, PS2 RE games couldn't get any worse, right? Wrong. I've played every RE game from Director's Cut on PS1 to Zero on Gamecube, and this is worst second only to Gun Survivor.
Let's start with the online aspect. Not everyone HAS broadband connection or wants it to play just one or two games. That alone loses it points.
It does have 1P mode, but it is horrible. You get 1-4 NPC's to 'help' you. All they help do is blow ammunition. Whatever weapons they have, they use the best one, i.e., give them a pipe and a shotgun and they'll use the shotgun until it runs out. They also have no concept of teamwork. They will run off without one wit for you. Occasionally they'll blast a zombie off you when you're attacked, but mostly stand around and talk. They also don't help at all with puzzles.
The items system is also like RE:Zero (not good). You get 4 slots, and can juggle between the characters, but that can be hazardous, b/c the NPC's can run off with the item, or die, and then you can't get it back. Also like Zero, there're no item boxes. You leave stuff either with a person or on the floor and hope you remember where you left it.
Lastly, the story; THERE IS NONE! The game is a chain of scenarios, which have no connection. You can go from a bar to a lab with no explaination in between. A lot of the game is just repeats of the last games; same puzzles, same mechanics, even the same locations.
The only saving graces are two things; one, the weapons. One of the characters is capable of making weapons, such as flamethrowers and tasers, and the weapons you can find are interesting. Bullets usually aren't that hard to find unless you're also letting the NPC's have some as well.
The second is the feeling of the game. It's like the old 'Night of the Living Dead.' Zombies are breaking in all around, and you're just a regular person fighting to stay alive. You can barricade yourself, run, or fight, and it feels very fast-paced.
Other than that, however, there's nothing spectacular here unless you plan on buying a broadband link.
