Fun game, though best played with a friend.

Overall, I really liked this game. It's similar to Mario Kart, but most kart racers are, which I think is fine. This game gets it's own unique flavor through certain Pac-Man elements that are included in the game, such as the new versions of the old Pac-Man music and the pellets that you eat as you drive down the track. Eat enough pellets and you turn into Super Pac-Man and can eat the other players, who have turned into blue ghosts.

I only have one complaint with this game, and that is a lack of challenge from the computer opponents. On easy mode, for me anyway, the other racers are generally way behind me by the time I finish the race. I haven't found the other difficulties particularly challenging either (except for the 4th difficulty level, which I haven't unlocked yet).

The good news is this is a racing game, and that means it's meant to be played with a friend so you can race each other. That's where I've spent most of my time, and I've had a blast. Unfortunately, it seems that you have to play in single player mode to unlock the extra tracks and characters, and I believe you have to complete all the tracks in each difficulty level to unlock everything. I haven't gotten that far yet, though.

So, if you've got someone to play this game with, I can wholeheartedly recommend it. The tracks are great, and I love the game's unique mechanics. This game should also be great for younger kids because of the toned down difficulty level. More experienced players will probably mainly want to play with a real opponent though.

The reason I gave this game a 4 star rating is because it is alot like mario cart double dash, which I also have. But the cars are alot cooler than mario carts, and the levels are a bit more challenging, which I dont mind to some degree. In my opinion, this game is worth checking out.

It seems like the success of the classic video games, have really continued to shine on, and welcome so many newcomers into what made these great definitive during their hey days in the 80's. With the continuing triumphs and longevity of Mario Brothers, Legend Of Zelda, and Sonic The Hedgehog, many other characters have seemed to try to reintroduce themselves in different lights just to make themselves household names again. That is true especially with Pac Man. Since he came out in the 1980's, many people have enjoyed the original edition of the classic maze puzzle-chomper. While there have been numerous attempts to re-invent Pac Man with games like Pac Man World 3, many have just considered him as a piece of the past, just a part of the retro game collections like Namco Museum. Now, a new way in the thrill of speed has turned on again.

Pac Man World Rally for the Playstation 2, is a challenging kart racing game where you can play several different characters from the Pac Man series including Pac Man himself, Ms. Pac Man, the spooky ghosts Inky, Pinky and company, and many others. The gameplay is fast and furious, but adds a unique touch as you race your way to the checkered flag. The graphics for the game are very eyepopping, and deliver with how imaginative the game delivers. The control for the game also delivers well as being simple and percise for newcomers to kart racing games. However, the thrill misses out a bit, for die hard racing game fanatics who've might've felt the Mario Kart games delivered as a better challenge, especially the recent Mario Kart DS for the handheld DS system. The music for the game is also very cartoonish, but doesn't matter much within the appeal of the game itself.

All in all, Pac Man World Rally is a nice change into the Pac Man franchise, and shows that the Pac Man series is trying hard to bring out new venues for all gamers on the PS2. Nevertheless, it isn't really exciting if you've mastered the art of the kart chompers. This would really be a good rental to try out, and see if you still enjoy the thrill of the chomp.
