Midway Arcade Treasures surely does contain some classic 80s gaming...SMASH TV alone is worth the price (great for parties and even better now that it doesn't eat quarters like a fiend)! You'll have fun exploring some of the other offerings as well - Roadblasters, Sinistar etc. Sadly two of my favorite games of yor: Paperboy and Robotron 2084 have absolutely rotten control-translation. The game menu for the disk is also very clunky and tough to navigate...but if you can overlook the shortcomings, you'll have hours of great retro-gaming fun at your fingertips (for less than you spent at the local bowling alley arcades when you were a squirt). :)

Most reviewers mention the more popular games, but I found two games that I had never heard of in the 80s that have fantastic gameplay. Rampart is a build-a-castle, blow-up-a-castle game that is very intense fun for two or three players. Klax is a fun puzzle game that can be played alone or with a competitor (side by side, but playing individually). These games alone make this bundle an awesome buy. It is fun to revisit the other classics, but these two keep me coming back for more.

Midway Arcade Treasures is a great collection of twenty classic arcade games. There are some true classics like Defender, Robotron and Paperboy with some other great but lesser known games like Rampage, Toobin & 720. As with most of these classic collections, there are some clunkers that you will not waste your tim ewith like Klax, Bubbles & Marble Madness.

This was a Christmas Gift for me this year... purchased for me primarily because Robotron is on there. Well, when I popped the disc into the XBox, I found a surprise within greater than I could ever imagine!
This disc is chock full o' games that you know and love from the days of old... Defender, Robotron, Joust, Paperboy, Stargate, Super Sprint, Smash TV... oh, indeed, just some great titles.
As mentioned at the start, this was bought primarily since it had Robotron. And it rules. It plays just like the arcade game (no translation issues) and is way too fun. My wife and I also enjoy Klax, and I like to play Defender, but the game never will translate into controllability similar due to lack of controls.
This is also true of Sprint... much too difficult to play compared to the old standup version.
The games all have options and a bit of history about them, and I think it is really a most splendid disc.
If only somebody (hey Nintendo!) would bring the original Donkey Kong to XBox....

This collection is awesome. If you're in your late 20's or early 30's you will get a big kick out of this. Paperboy and Rootbeer Tapper are the highlights. You'll be asking your mom for quarters again in no time.

First, please note that this game DOES NOT include Moon Patrol! I bought it for that game. Hopefully the Amazon site will update the description.
Some of the games are still fun 20 years later, but some are just so dated that it's hard to get into them. The graphics are REALLY lame compared to today! But of course, we buy this for nostalgia value, and that is what you get. As far as I can tell, these are perfect replica's of the 80's games.Great time killers and no more losing fist fulls of quarters!

Alot of my love for this title comes from the fact that I was a coin-op arcade junky in the middle eighties. That being said, the games included here really have excellent gameplay to draw on. Its not just the nostalgia. My favorites titles include Defender, Stargate, (i refuse to call it Defender II), Joust, Spy Hunter, 720, Robotron 2084, Rampage and Gauntlet.
This disc also helped me to discover some games that Id missed back in the day. Im talking titles like Rampart, Bubbles, Super sprint and Toobin.
One issue to be aware of with this game is that it takes some time to get used to the controls. This issue is very noticeable in Spy Hunter and the games with a trackball in arcades. Its hard to translate at first, but eventually you will get used to it.
The history and DVD clips on the games were ineteresting as side notes.
Just a note on the amazon description, Moon Patrol is not on the disc unless it is hidden content that I have to unlock somewhere.
A fun trip to the past

For those of us who were fond of spending hard-earned quarters in the arcades back in the 80s, this game is a wonderful treat. For twenty dollars, you get an express trip to memory lane and the chance to play some old favorites without running out of money. But a special bonus is included in the disk. You can learn about the history of each game, pictures of the cabinets or concept art and even watch interview clips with the creators.I only found two minor flaws with the game. First (And most importantly) the controls can be a challenge the first few times you play. It's not easy translating old arcade console controls to modern game pads but that clears up with enough practice. Secondly, not all of the games had histories, interviews or pictures in the bonus feature. It might sound like a minor sticking point, but it was fascinating to learn the history of these games.
If you are looking for a break from three-dimensional animation, stereo sound and realistic violence prevalent in today's games, invest in this little gem. Older gamers will appreciate seeing old friends again and younger gamers will enjoy playing classics.
No Arguments Here!

This game was a great buy. Many arcade hits that were my favorites when I was 8 years old.....and got beaten in mere seconds. Paperboy, Root Beer Tapper, Spy Hunter, Rampage, and they are all perfectly restored, with the same music and graphics. If you're hooked on nostalgia, this is the game to get!! And as for price, with over 20 games, what are you debating on? No more quarters are needed! You'll get more than your money's worth, and it's so nice to see "FREE PLAY" on the screen.
