Finally a PS2 game that I can play (I'm 12.5) but my 6 yr old brother can play as well! This is one of the funniest games out there for Star Wars. The programmers must have had a blast creating this one because they make fun of some scenes in Star Wars and it works. My brother and I have invited friends over to see this game and now they all want it. Even my Mom plays it and she cracks up laughing.

After buying and returning two copies of this game, I finally read the user reviews and see that many people are experiencing a problem with this game: the CD-ROM based, blue disk DOES NOT WORK in original PS2 consoles. Eidos should definitely recall this game and produce one that works on ALL PS2 consoles.
Finally an Fun way to play with no Gory graphics

We bought this game after seeing it reviewed on "Judgement Day". It's not overly complex, but it certainly is addictive. The game revisits Episodes I-III and allows the consumer to battle as a Lego/Star Wars character. Once a level has been completed, you are able to "Free Play" most levels as any Star Wars Character that you have unlocked.
My favorite feature is that Player 2 has the option to "drop in" and "drop out" at any time. There are few games that allow someone to patricipate for an unspecified amount of time. Being able to "drop out" to take a phone call or make dinner, and then rejoin the game has come in handy more than once!
My only criticism of the game is a small one. The camera does its best to stay with both of the characters, but that doesn't always allow for the best camera angles.
I will definitely purchase the sequel as well!

This game is all about having fun. Sure, there's challange, but not to the point of frustration that many other games cause. In many ways the game reminds me of the Ratchet & Clank games, not too easy and not too hard, but loads of fun for (all ages - I'm in the Senior Citizen catagory).
playable game for anyone

I'm not much of a video game person. And when I do play games, I don't really play the games consistently, except *Silent Hill* and *Resident Evil*. Well, my partner got this *Lego Star Wars* game and I was hooked!
This game was a lot of fun! I found myself playing this game way past my usual bedtime. I'd laugh here and there. Overall, it's a game that it not really complicated at all. A bit of thinking and detective work is required but that's the fun part.
The only complaint is that I felt the game was too short. The game pretty much follows the movie trilogy. I was surprised how fast Episode 1 ended. The next thing I knew, Episode 2 was over as well. Then, I dreaded for Episode 3 to end.
However, I found out that you go back and use Freeplay to finish up the 3 episodes in order to play the 4th episode. Freeplay is even better. Freeplay gives you a selection of characters that you can alternate for better results in the three episodes. This is because only specific characters can execute specific tasks.
Just one little problem...it can be a little redundant with Freeplay. To play the 4th episode, you gotta get "Jedi master" status in each chapters in the 3 episodes. To achieve that status is to rake up the coins. You can only earn up so much per chapters. Sometimes, you may have to do it again just to build up your money, especially if you also want to purchase anything at the "store".
Once you've achieve Jedi mastery and collected all the parts needed for a "kit", Episode 4 is unlocked.
Nonetheless, it was a fun game! This game is bound to entertain anyone. Hey, it's Lego! So, nothing in this game can be deemed too graphic. Lego is too "cute" for that. So, check it out and play! I can't wait to play the next one, *Lego Star Wars: The Original Triology*!
VERY fun, but has glitches.

I actually have this game on PC, but there isn't a game here sold on PC, so I'm writing it here.
In my opinion, this game is really cool, It is so fun to play, not only is there the stories of episodes 1-3, but there is also optional things, such as a jedi meter (how much currency needs to be obtained in a level to get a part of a ship), and these 10 canister things that you find in certain areas to get parts of other ships for that level.
Like I said in the title, my game is fun, but has glitches. Some of the currency that falls on the floor (when I break things) goes through the floor, then it's impossible to get. Another glitch is that if I press the Alt key (On PC), it goes out of the game, into my desktop (like it should), but when I press The LEGO Star Wars thing on the bottom, the game goes away, which is a real pain.
These glitches may not happen to you, the reader, but they happen to me, so if you don't agree, I understand. But anyways, If you are planning to get this game, GET IT! It's VERY fun!
Won't run on older PS2s without modifications

I, like so many others below have had problems with this game.
I wish I had read these before purchasing!
Before searching online and reading these reviews, we had already driven to the store to exchange once because we thought the disk was defective. All my son wanted for his birthday was this game, and he was so upset when it wouldn't run.
Apparently this is a well documented problem with the blue CDs, as mentioned below. DON"T buy if you have an older PS2 - or at least learn the "workarounds" before your wasting time!

I think lego star wars is a great game. It's really funny because unlike battle front you play as LEGO guys at all times.
It has cheats too. Look on super cheats.com for details.
I think the best part about it is two player because you need someone at your side to, you know kick you into shape.

Lego Star wars for the PS2 is an excellent game. But a lot of people say that their is a problem with loading because its a blue disc game. I have to say that this is because of the needle that reads the discs wearing farther away each time you use it. By the fourth year you have the PS2 it will have a hard time reading any discs. This problem is only if you have the old fat PS2, but if you have the new slom one there should be no problem. So if you have the new PS2 get it, or you'll be missing out on a great game. If you have the old one get a laser lense cleaner and look online for a solution.
