A Worthy Beginning

Okay, the bad: Not as good as the X-Men Legends games. Your team is limited to two players on the screen at a time. There aren't that many characters to choose from. There aren't that many super powers to choose from. You can't always choose your own team.

That's a lot of bad, but the good more than makes up for it.

There is no game, no matter the superhero team that can compete with playing as the Justice League. Plain and simple. The X-Men are great, but the Justice League is legendary. You can't beat playing as Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman or the Flash (and don't forget their alternate costumes). The limited super powers you get are actually appropriate to the character (for the most part). I'd rather have appropriate powers (like Batman's martial arts skills) than arbitrary powers that are there just to be there (like in the X-Men games and Ultimate Alliance). And what other game can you go up against Doomsday and Darkseid? None. The graphics look better than the other superhero games, too, as there is less clutter. And let's not forget these three words: Golden Age Flash.

Overall, this is not the best superhero roleplaying game out there, but it is a worthy start, with sequels hopefully to follow. In way, it is more rewarding than the Marvel games as it does give you a sense of playing some legendary characters, and it does offer replay value. I also didn't notice any weird loading glitches like I did with X-Men Legends II, a game I have to start over because all my saves caused the game to freeze on load up.

An Awesome Game.

I am not a gamer, but I am a huge fan of the DC Comics characters Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman! With JLH, we finally get a game featuring DC Comics that is not awful. In fact, this is downright fun!

But if you are a DC Comics fans, then it is beyond fun--it makes you yell out loud and jump for joy TOTALLY geeking out at all the fan boy goodness therein.

First off, the characters are very much inspired by their comic book selves and play that way. Superman and Wonder Woman are very evenly matched in strength and toughness as they are in the books. However, Superman has greater offensive measures whereas Wonder Woman has greater defensive capability and is more balanced. They even have her bracelets do the deflection thing which makes your enemies offense her own.

Of course, with normals like Batman (and HUNTRESS!!! She looks SO. COOL!!!) in the game there is going to be a suspension of belief as they can punch and be punched by the same robots that Superman and Wonder Woman can be hit by and uh, not like, die and stuff. But that is to be expected.

That does not for me detract from the customization of each hero. Batman even has his Batman Begins bat attack!

I have to say, the animated clips are eyepopping and amazing with nods to the various media the heroes appeared in and to their comic book selves. The heroes voices sound great and are very well done. And the action is epic in the clips. At one point, Wonder Woman is out in space defending Earth from an invading battle fleet! And it is ON!!

Gameplay is okay on its own. But throw in the DC characters and it is magical!!! With a replay revisit factor out of the park as you can continue to build the heroes once you beat the game the first time.

Get it and go ga ga at the cool and varied displays of the Leaguers Superpowers and for the beautiful graphics and the EXCELLENT sound and superpowers! From Zatanna's spellcasting to Flash superspeed, from Wonder Woman's Magic Lasso to Superman's heat vision, it is amazing to see everything work so differently and look (and SOUND!!!) so cool!

Get it today!

big let down

My wife and I are big fans of co-op games and we've played the xmen and the champions of norrath and we were stoked to play the game, but it was way to short, left us wanting something more, and some of the super powers were on the weak side as well as the way to "upgrade" your powers, also on the cut scenes the graphics are very rough looking (wonderwoman looked as if she was more manly then female and she also had a haggarred look about her). This game left us regreting paying the full new game price of 50 dollars, for kids I'm sure the game is great. But be advised if you get this game buy it used. Don't get to excited for this game for you might get let down big time.

Awesome Game!

Excellent game play. Very happy with this game. Especially with the two extra levels of Elite and Superhero. Superhero level is very challenging. Awesome.

What a superhero team game should be

I bought Justice League Heroes used for $10 because I had heard people say it wasn't that great, but I still wanted to try it because I love DC Comics. I was blown away by this game. It's one of the most fun games I have ever played.

The game is a fairly simple beat em up adventure with RPG elements thrown in. As you fight enemies you gain experience, which makes your characters stronger. You can decide which abilities to improve, and can even slot boosts to those abilities, to make them even more powerful. The game looks great, except for a couple character models that look nothing like their comic book counterparts, but that's forgivable. The superpowers your characters possess make the fighting more interesting, and the multiple characters means that you can experiment with different teams and character's abilities. I was thrilled to see the inclusion of Green Arrow, who has always been one of my favorites. There are a few levels where you have to play as certain characters, but the rest of the time you can choose a two person team to use on a level. The story is pretty good too, and you don't have to be a comic geek to follow it. The game is very linear, but for this type of game that makes sense, as you never spend too much time in one area. There are also a lot of unlockables to purchase, both new characters and outfits that give your characters different attributes. The game also lets you start a new game once you've beaten the story mode once using the characters that you've already leveled up. You can also play two player co-op, which I have with my girlfriend, who loves the Flash. The controls are fairly simple and easy to pick up. My girlfriend rarely plays video games, but she had no trouble at all picking up this one.

There are a couple things I don't like about this game though. One is that there are three green lantern characters to choose from, the default character John Stewert and the unlockable characters Kyle Rayner and Hal Jordan. Unfortunately, they all have the same powers, so you're really just getting two new outfits for John Stewert, but you have to level up them up. Also, I have nothing against Huntress, but she has never been a member of the Justice League. I don't see why she was included instead of other characters, such as Hawkman, Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, Plastic Man, Red Tornado, or any other number of heroes. Oh, and some of the voice acting is off. I don't see why DC/Warner Bros. or whoever makes the decisions thinks they need to get different voice actors for all the new video games and movies they're coming out with. As long as I've been into comic books and watching cartoons, Kevin Conroy has been the voice of Batman. Ron Perlman isn't bad or anything, but he just doesn't have the voice. Conroy does. Most of the other's don't sound too bad, except Hawkgirl, who sounds like an audience member on Jerry Springer. Also, although you can play through the game again, you have to start at the beginning every time, and you can't skip levels. the last thing is that even with the characters abilities at max, beating the game on the Superhero difficulty level is impossible. I even turned the cheats on, which I rarely do, and I was still having trouble so I gave up.

All in all, this is one of the most fun games I've ever played, and it is definitely worth buying.

Second-Rate Game

This is simply a second-rate game, a pretender, a wannabe. It simply reeks of rush job made to cash in on the super-hero craze. You battle through hordes and hordes of robots. It feels more like a chore rather than fun. The super-heroes themselves blend in with the other enemies so that you can't see them amongst the hordes and hordes of robots. Then the game ends. No special cut-scenes. Just screen credits. That after working hard to clean the screen of robots. To add insult to this whole thing the game is very short. Don't waste your money on this rubbish. Take it from me, once you've played the other super-hero games you will see how really bad this one is. Save a little bit more and get the real game. Don't waste your money on this game. Show the game developers that you don't like being ripped off by games like this.

I got this game as a birthday gift and was thrilled with this game that you can play different heroes other than batman and superman.I'm on the fourth level of the game I guess.I've already tried batman and superman on the first two levels and to realize that superman is a bit weak and he flies so slow in this game,no offense but he does fly slow. Now I am playing martian the manhunter and zantanna on the third and fourth level now and so far so good, this game is way more better than any other game and to think that zantanna is hot in this game and all the superheroes in this game are fine, but I haven't gotten a chance to play the other heroes, but right now on the fourth level,I'm sticking with zantanna for now and if you're tired of batman and superman,go get this game because its got great gameplay and you can play other heroes in this game and other than, this game is very highly recommended.

Was expecting more and better decisions by Snowblind

This is a very good game overall. Great graphics, individual superhero powers, interactive environments etc. However there are some major drawbacks. First, certain main characters are missing like Aquaman and Hawkgirl; while a minor character (Zatanna) is included. Also, you cannot select the character you want - I was really disappointed and surprised.
