Painful To Navigate

I wanted to like this game, the story line is decent and the graphics are good but navigating the screens is painful. They have taken what could have been a good game and ruined it by not paying attention to some basic navigation problems. The cursor indicates that you can move in a direction by showing shoe prints when you hold the cursor over a hot spot. But in this game the hot spots are tiny or in a lot of cases missing. This makes something that should be simple, moving around the screens, very frustrating. In one screen after 5 minutes of searching I couldn't find any hot spots that would allow me to move forward into the market area, even though it was evident that it was where I needed to go. So I gave up and started randomly clicking in the screen, which eventually allowed me to move forward, but again, no hot spots to indicate where I could move to from that position. So more random clicking to try to get to one of the booths in the market. After having to do this to move several times the screen finally changed to show the market from a different angle and at that point I had navigational hot spots again. The tiny hot spots also caused a problem with figuring out what items I was supposed to pick up or look at. It caused me to miss several items in certain screens. And in a few cases the hot spot was completely off the item altogether, causing some confusion as to which item I was to pick up or look at. Another annoying problem was that often my character would stand right in front of what I needed to look at or touch. So I had to keep clicking the screen around her to try to move her out of the way in order to get to the item in question. So unless you have an infinite amount of time and patience, try some other game.

I usually don't play these type of adventure games, but it did sound interesting. However, I found out very early on in the game that you have to print out the manual to start the game moving forward. The cursor with the hand that is suppose to allow you to collect items, did not work all the time. I was unable to understand what I was suppose to do inside the caves since none of the items were working.
Very disappointed in the game. I think that the maker of the game should try having people play this game before releasing it to the public, or at least test it and make sure that it works.

I quite playing this game when I realized I had run up against a glitch in the game that made it unwinnable. I also got sick of the random illogical puzzle. Save your money and just read the walk throughs. They are more fun than the actual game!
Don't bother

Don't waste your time and money on this game-it's not worth it. The story idea is interesting but it's hard to navigate (it's easy to miss a location) and a lot of the tasks you're required to do don't make sense (I couldn't have made it past the opening scenes without the walkthrough, embarrassingly enough)I got bored a third of the way through and quit. It's a good idea, but it didn't turn into a good game.
Unfinished, Unprofessional, Unplayable

This is junk. The "designers" have incorporated some of the worst game design mistakes in the past ten years, all in a single package. Poor voice acting, terrible pathfinding, dull art and little music or ambient noise. Worst of all, utterly broken puzzles, with no clues, no feedback, just random clicking on pylons or items scattered randomly over the landscape. This is a disaster -- did these people not do ANY playtesting??? Have they never played a game before themselves???

Wouldn't even load = Video problems

I have a very state-of-the-art computer with all the accelerated video, drivers, sound, etc that is needed to run any game., with all the drivers kept up to date. This game wouldn't even load and kept crashing the system, even to the "blue screen" of dumping physical memory. I ran all patches, changed video modes, changed compatibility modes and nothing would work. If that's any indication of what's left for problems if it ever runs, check out the other reviews of those who actually got it to work...lots of problems. What a shame such a promising game ended up such a waste.

Be sure to read all the reviews before you buy this program (I wish I had). It may be as fun as some people claim, I don't know. I couldn't get past the first scene. I would walk a few steps, and then my computer would crash. Over and over again. I tried all the fixes recommended (not by the developers, but by other annoyed and frustrated users) and nothing worked. I have a relatively new XP machine that exceeds all game requirements. Don't waste your money on this turkey.

I just finished playing this game last night. It was the worse adventure game I've ever played. The dialogue is inane. The voice acting is horrible. The body language is goofy. The navigation is a painful exercise in frustration. The puzzles and tasks are either pointless or impossibly difficult or both. I had to consult two different walkthroughs just to get through some of the puzzles.
It's really too bad because the visuals are stunning. The graphics and colors are very good and the cutscenes are especially nice. But these things are not enough to save this game from being truly awful to get through.
Do Not buy unless you love torture!

I recently purchased Journey to the center of the earth. It is an inventory based game that I bought because of the promised beautiful graphics. This is a beautiful looking game that is extremely hard because it is extremely linear; if you forget to look at something or if you didn't do something in the exact order, you will not find your way to other screens. This game will be great for people who love inventory, who love to click on every single inch of the screen to find something, or find a way out of the screen. I feel the game play is outdated and the acting is babyish and the story and persons in it, illogical. The story would have made a lot of sense if she was in a coma or dreaming. I needed a walk through and the directions on the walk through were still wrong. If you like to pull your hair out and get a headache, get this game. I gave up half way because I was not enjoying the beautiful graphics. This was not fun at all.
