Awesome Game!!!!!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 8 / 8

This game is one of the best games i have ever played. I think the graphics are great and it is sooo fun, I mean how can being a 30 foot shark, eating people right off thier boats and chucking them high in the air not be fun right. I mean some levels are pretty hard but i just looked on google.ca and and typed in how to beat... (whatever level it is)on jaws unleashed and click on the second one i think and there is this guide and it tells exactly how to beat that level. Its true. Im on the last level. And if you don't want to go with the story mode missions you can just swim around and destroy people's boats and of course eat them afterwards, and there are side missions you can do... a lot of them too. Anyways buy this game and if you are a big Jaws fan then don't hesitate and buy it. No questions asked. You will love it.

BUY THIS GAME AS SOON AS YOU CAN!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to say that it was a long wait for this game, and some people will tell you that this game isn't worth the cash. Lets just say that they're WRONG. this game is one of the best games I've ever played. I fell in love with this game from the first teaser trailer. Having said that, this game is definately not perfect. Here's the breakdown

Story: 4/5 stars

Amity has had 30 years pass since the first Great White terrorized it's beaches. Since then, Amity's population has grown immensely. Also, a few large corporations have become interested in the island (including the widely popular "Environplus"). The combination of populated beaches and subsonic industrial work have attracted a very dangerous rogue Great White Shark. The 25 foot long beast begins a new reign of terror.

Graphics: 3 1/2 stars

These graphics are only average, not ultra realistic, so if you're not one of those graphics obsessed people, this won't bother you. Graphics get glitchy on occasion, sometimes more often than that. If you overlook this, however, you shouldn't have a problem.

Controls: 4 1/2 stars

Ok, so I admit, I had a little difficulty learning to control the Great White (in addition the creator of the game gave gamers some lie that they kept the controls "simple") and it took me a little while to learn them. However, once you get the hang of it, it's easy. The learning curve is a little slow (which is why I took off a half a star) but none the less the complex controls give the shark a little more realism as well.

Gameplay: 5/5 stars

Undoubtedly the very essential part of this game is the gameplay. Freeroaming like GTA (although I'm not in the slightest a fan of the GTA series) so you can explore and dominate the entire island. I found myself having lots of mindless fun just jumping on top of boats and sinking them, watching the passengers scream and flail as I circled around them and ate them, one by one. The story mode is rather short (only 10 levels long) but it is also very amusing and fun. Gameplay, to this game, is what makes it so great.

Overall: 5/5 stars

I know its not a perfect game, and any great game comes with it's issues. This game is not perfect, but makes up for what it lacks with what it has. In short, an exceptional game. If you ever get the chance, grab it! See you at the beach...

VIOLENT BLOODY SHARK ATTACKS!!! Hell Yeah!

Jaws is screaming bloody good fun. It is not designed to be one of the best graphically looking games of all time, or even the most intelligent, but it has bags of surreal murderous mayhem to offer and not since `Manhunt' has there been anything quite as violent as it. I am very surprised that it doesn't have an M for Mature rating for the console although the PC box does. I think the RP rating is a very low rating. The game features bodily dismemberment quite literally as people are chewed up into bags of blood with their body parts floating about. They bawl gargling and try to swim to surface missing a leg. The fun you have with this game in the first few days makes it absolutely a must have. If you own a PS2 or XBOX or a PC get JAWS UNLEASHED, especially if you are fan of the movie. How can anyone refuse to play as a great white monching up swimmers and divers? The shark movements are great because you can increase your shark attributes as the game progresses. You can stealth kill swimmers, jump up onto boats, catch people in mid air, drag them under water, torture them, play with them chomp them up into a bloody mess and then go on a free run and do it all again. The story is totally different from the movie but it does include themes very similar to all four films. There are many levels which do require some brains to work out how to solve certain puzzles. In fact I was surprised by how much this game did have to offer considering that it look like a low-entry level console game. It is far from it! This is a fully charged arcade thrill kill with more gore than you would have anticipated. It has you laughing loud at the outrageous things you can do with the shark. You have never played anything like this before, not will you again. And remember this should have been an M rating as the PC box states. The shark is literally tearing people up quite graphically.

The Truth about JAWS Unleashed...

Ok Ok Ok... if you had told me 10 years ago that they were making a game called JAWS Unleashed and you were "Bruce" himself... I would not have believed you. The truth is I played JAWS the Revenge for NES which I'm sure most of us did back in the day but I think deep down inside we all wished for a game like this instead.

Let me be honest about my scoring here first off, the game does have a few draw backs but.. what game doesn't right? It does have some rough camera views and what-not. They like to happen at the worst moments... but aside from that the game is awesome. Great as it is I beat it rather quickly and I enjoyed some of the nostalgic locations from the first two films.

Sound and graphics are great even though the plot is a bit out there, what else would you expect from a JAWS game though right? If your a fanboy of anything JAWS... or if your looking through the market for a Grand Theft Auto meets A Great White Shark... try this game.

Jaws Unleashed was announced a while ago. People have been waiting for sometime to be the shark himself. Even better, the game was done by those who created Ecco the Dolphin. What's not to like? The answer: Quite a bit. There are some moments of fun to be had in this game, but overall, the everlasting appeal a game of this calibur should have aren't really there.

There's not much of a story to Jaws Unleashed really. It takes place thirty years after the film where yet again, another giant shark is terrorizing people and taking people for his lunch. That's about as much of an explanation as I can give, really. It's clear that this game isn't really much about storyline. Nor does it seem like it really needed the Jaws license. Still, I can deal with that. This is a game that shouldn't have to have a story.

Much of the gameplay is similar to Grand Theft Auto. In a sense, when you're not doing a "mission" you get to free-roam and go about eating people and other fishes if you like. The free-roam aspect of the game isn't so bad, but in reality, this is the only real fun you'll have with this game. It's Grand Theft Auto... but with a shark. And you actually can have some mindless fun while doing it if it weren't for a few things. For one, the controls are terrible. Second, the camera angle is terrible. The camera and bad controls together make the gameplay experience hardly worthwhile. You'll spend a lot of time trying to readjust the camera, and when you do it still isn't quite right. Not to mention that if you surface or something, the camera shifts on its own, meaning you'll have to go through a whole lot of trouble to set the camera again.

The missions are also a drag. Many of them are dumb and pointless. For example, you'll have to beach yourself on the shore and eat someone, and then make it back into the water before you die. This wouldn't be so bad if there weren't invisible walls and a few graphical glitches that make a task such as this mediocre. Not only that, but seeing Jaws beached is not exactly something that'll give you much of a thrill. You might as well stick to just free roaming. Many other missions are also a drag. Sneaking into an amusement park to eat a whale, and the like. Most of these missions are tasteless and all around not very entertaining. Again, stick to the free roam. You'll probably find it much better to sink your teeth into unsuspecting people and fish rather than doing the actual missions this game has to offer.

What really keeps this game down besides the controls, missions, and camera angles may actually lie within the overall presentation of the game itself. It doesn't really look fantastic. Many of the people look bad, and while the environments are colorful, The PS2 is capable of much more than this. The voice acting also isn't great. That's not to say the graphics are horrible. Jaws himself doesn't look so bad, neither does the environment that he swims in. The environment just feels like it could've used more detail is all. What urks the most about the presentation is that it's full of glitches, frame rate issues and invisible walls. For such a long time in development, one has to wonder how these bugs found their way into the game. The music isn't so great either. Much of the music actually comes from the movie. The classic Jaws Theme is given a make over, and it doesn't really sound all that great, to be honest with you. It also gets repetative after a while.

I had high expectations for this game. It didn't quite live up to them at all in the long run. For a game that spent such a long time in development, it really could've presented so much more and been better. The low price tag of $30 might be a little tempting, but I urge you to resist temptation. If you MUST have the game, then wait until you find it used and at a very low price. Otherwise, avoid buying this game at all cost.

The Good
+The Grand Thef Auto like gameplay is actually quite enjoyable
+You actually play as Jaws

The Bad
-Graphically it doesn't look great
-It doesn't sound great either
-The music actually gets repetative
-Too much fighting with the camera
-Clunky controls
-Strange missions
-Quite a Buggy Game. For a game that spent so much time in development, one has to wonder how it could be pack full of bugs

Jaws Unleashed

This is the first and only game that allows you to play as the shark.A masterpeice in my opinion.I love sharks so when I heard this game was coming out it was a must have.In this game you play as Jaws and the game takes place 30 years after the movie but the freeroam is the fun part of the game. Not only that you can eat, kill and dismember people several ways. You can rip off heads, arms, legs and cut the torsoe in half. There is even a lot of blood in the water when you do this. When cutting the person in half you see intestines floating in the water as well.If you do it carefully you can take a person and rip an arm or leg off and watch them swim yell and try to get away. The game software is smart to.You can injure or kill a person and throw them to sharks and crocodiles and they will attack it and eat it.Sometimes they will even attack you and try to get it away from you. There also a move that allows you to take the person and bob them in the water with blood coming out of their mouth then you jump and the whole body is dismembered. You also have the tailwhip which also does extreme damage. Not only do you have your choice of swimmers to attack but also kiakers, jetskiers, divers, boaters etc.You can also damage boats, docks and sometimes even buildings. Not only can you attack people but the many animals in this game like bull sharks, mako sharks, porbeagle sharks, tiger sharks, oceanic whitetip sharks, octopus, killer whales(Note these are in open ocean south in the southwest part of the map these killer whales are easy to kill compared to the one in storymode)dolphins, whale sharks, salt water crocodiles, walruses, elephant seals, seasnakes, leapord seals, seals and a lot of other animals and species of fish. You will only find the crocodiles at open ocean west in the occasious canals. They hang out at the bridges and they will attack you sometimes as many as 5 at a time but their too easy to kill, you can just cut them in half and eat them.I actually ripped a womans leg off without killing her and spit her out,she was screaming then about 4 crocs attacked her and she screamed even louder. The canals by the way are in the freshwater river. The Occasious Canals are in the Southeastern part of the map at open ocean West. There are also various Jellyfish in this game in different locations the deadliest ones are at Open Ocean West close to the save mark on the map.Their in big groups and can take your health down very quickly

Once you beat the story part of the game that place becomes unlocked in freeroam with the exception of the last mission. There are also some freeroam places that arn't in the story like.

1)Fishermans Isle You can eat off of a dead blue whale here and there is some challenges as well.Location Open Ocean South near the beaches on the East side of the map.It is marked on the map.

2)Occasious Canals This is were the Salt Water Crocs hang out.Location Open Ocean West in the Southeast corner of the map.

3)The Deep Sea Caves These are really deep and the deeper you go the darker it gets.

4)The Island in the Southeast part of Open Ocean South I forget the name of the island but there are many dolphins and the walruses are here to.Also close to the current to strong line you can see the blue or sperm whale.

5)Cable Junction at Open Ocean East this is one of the movie locations.

The storymode has you destroying stuff or causing explosions but they also feature the two formitable bosses that can kill you.The Killer Whale in the 2nd mission when your trying to escape SeaWorld can take you in it's mouth twirl you around and jump up in the air with you.The killer whale is as strong as and big as you are and it's bigger then it's free roaming cousins. With this predator it's a good idea to level up your moves and eat dolphins and people when you have a chance to so you can upgrade your health.Once beating the orca a cutscene shows you jumping in the air with it and cutting it in half.

2)The Giant Squid is in the Deep mission. He is much bigger then you and can even swallow and eat you.The object here is to dodge his attacks and rip off his tentacles then followup by taking out his eyes.

Points of interest
You have to beat the killer whale in Seaworld to open up freeroam.

When you first start the game you don't have much health you can upgrade it in the second level.

You can open up a lot of movie clips in the bonus section by finding tin cans.

Once all license plates are found you can open all levels.

Mermaids,skeletons etc offer bonus points.

There are a lot of sukin ships.

Some animals are hard to see such as sea snakes and seahorses at Open Ocean East.Cutting on sharkvision will help you see them.Seasnakes by the way are close to the compass on the map at open ocean east as are the seahorses and whale sharks.

Cons
Swimmers are only at Open Ocean South

No Surfers

No Dog is in freeroam. The only place you see the dog is at the doggone challenge at open ocean east.

No night The Dead of Night story mission is the only way you attack swimmers at night. The dead of night free roam mission is in daylight.

Camera issues

Framerate Drops especially with bubbles.

The game doesn't let you play as other sharks like the tiger, bull etc. This should have been a bonus feature.

The tiger sharks are too small.

I highly recommend Jaws Unleashed for a great freeroaming shark game.I hope there will be a sequel soon.

FINALLY! Someone decided that a game which allows
for the player to control the deadliest fish alive
would make for a great game. And for the price of
$19.99 one can't go wrong, especially if you're a Jaws
fan.

The story? I don't think I paid too much attention to
that aspect, I was more interested in what I could destroy
and devour next. There is some weak plot though, where, basically, you are being hunted for being such a naughty fish, but hey, you're hungry.

The graphics I recall are very weak in the story scenes, almost as if they hurried to get through those boring parts. However, the graphics throughout the rest of the game are quite impressive and you actually feel like you are submerged in water.

The control as most others have stated leaves a lot to be
desired. Even if you manage to completely get good control
over Jaws, you'll find yourself getting stuck in tight areas.
There were moments where I would frantically move the shark back and forth trying to pry him loose for fear that I would have to restart the level. But, this is really no major complaint.

The gore is decent. You can actually select which part of your victim you wish to devour while they helplessly swim to the surface. Take a bite, gnaw away, and tear 'em to peices and watch their bloody corpse float away... the same thing applies to a large selection of other fishes as well.

I beat this game fairly quick and haven't played it since. The game during play was very enjoyable, but really didn't leave me with a desire to play through it again... at least not for a while.

It is, indeed, safe to go into the water...

There have been rumors of this sort of game for years now, and I was happy when I heard news that it was finally being developed, and by Appaloosa Interactive. The controls are fluid and responsive, and it's a lot of fun just swimming around and trying out all of the shark's various abilities (the whole "shark vision" thing, though, is a little hokey). Like the first reviewer said, the game is a little sparse storywise, and I thought a lot of the voice acting was subpar, but those are minor gripes. In all, you could do much worse than play this unique and affordable game, which brought back a lot of memories for me as both a gamer and fan.

Music & Sound Effects: Excellent. Some slowdown underwater.
Graphics: Also excellent. The shark and its environment are very well-rendered.
A.I.: Some repetition, but quite realistic.

Highly recommended!

Ok I was going to buy this game when a friend of mine who definately knows his video games suggested I rent it first. So I did.

There are ten levels to the game and tons of side missions. I completed I think 6 or 7 levels in the two days I had it rented and enjoyed it thoroughly..

the graphics were great the free roaming aspect was awesome the problem was the controlling.

I had so much trouble controlling the shark. It was like a semi truck with no brakes. The hardest part was the mine field. You'd be doing fine until you attack something and was unable to stop and slammed into the mines.

Another problem is that in the TASTE FOR BLOOD level the game would sometimes freeze without warning.. I've read about this problem on several different web sites.. SO BE WARNED you could be doing well and then have to restart the whole level.

I would suggest that you rent the game before you buy it. I still want to buy the game but after renting it I'll wait til I can get it much cheaper!
