First off let me say that I am a big fan of the original Zoo Tycoon (and expansion packs) and huge animal lover. I figured that this second version of Zoo Tycoon would be wonderful since it is still a ZT game, and it lets you interact with the animals from the guest or zoo keepers view. Well, the graphics are good, however I would have to stop there with listing it's good points. Those of you that played the original games will understand how fun, though sometimes tedious, it was to place a zebra in an exhibit and make sure you have just the right amount of savannah grass, dirt, water, trees, bushes... In this version, one of the first challenges was to place a pair of zebras in a pen. I did that however the pen was grass, and they were happy! Apparently they are not as effected by their surroundings as in the first. The shops and stalls are really just food, beverage and restroom stalls. I don't have any of the "educational" buildings like the aviary, or reptile house and I've been playing for a while. I don't know if the animals ever make noise, but when I am in zookeeper mode and in the pen with the animals they do not make any noises. I recommend seriously considering the purchase of this game and not just a spur of the moment buy like I did. If you want realistic animals, and needs, and sounds stick with the original.
AWESOME and ADDICTING

I was buying these for my sister who is in her thirties, when I read the latest review. I don't know what that person is talking about. I love this game and so does the rest of my family! The animals do make sounds, I love the zebra it's my fave!! The koalas scream or cry for their mothers. Anyway I had the first one, and it is completely boring compared to this, you can not even compare them. Night and Day! My daughter is 10 and loves this and I guess it's ageless because I am 40 and love it too! I think my daughter and I have about ten zoos each. AAA++++
BEST GAME EVER!!!!!!

It's so weird because when I was playing the first game, I was thinking it would be so cool if you could interact with the animals. Then POOF They came out with Zoo Tycoon 2! There's just one bad thing: You won't be able to stop playing!!! :P
Love to Play This Game

I bought this game for my grandchildren. They love it and spend
hours playing it. What I hear is "is it my turn yet?" and can I
play with Daddy next. It is entertaining for the young as well as
the adults.

I loved the original Zoo Tycoon and this one was even better! Lot's of fun, you can ride through your exhibits and help care for the animals. Very fun! I wasn't very impressed with Marine Mania though. Too much money for not a lot of anything. But I would definately recommend the others!

Zoo Tycoon 1 is the best game ever. This game is expensive, requires a fancy graphics card (Though i seem to be the only one in the world without one) and a lot of memory. I could not get it to open.I haven't got a clue as to how fun this game is. Do not buy this game unless you are rich enough to buy a graphics card that costs that much.

Zoo Tycoon 2 is a game that is entertaining, educational and just downright fun. The object of the game is to build a world-class zoo. The game offers different terrains for you to explore. One must make the terrains comfortable and pleasing to the animals or they will get upset. Upset animals mean upset guests. Animals mate and give birth. You can sell animals or free them to the wild.
Guests want to be entertained and their is a variety of ways to do that. From activities to kiosks, guest will spend money! They love to eat too!
Build restaurants and food booths and don't forget the bathrooms!
This game has no violence! No one gets killed except the animals from old age or when they fight which is seldom. I highly recommend this game.

My daughter installed it on the brand new Dell we bought, complete with high- end graphics card, mega memory and Windows Vista. Purchased the computer specifically for this and other programs like it that my 4 year old Dell is not equipped to handle. It installed fine and she loved it. The next day she tried to play it and could not find it anywhere on the computer - the short cut was gone, it wasn't on the program list, and wasn't available on the control panel - uninstall screen. We had not done anything on the computer between the time she stopped playing and the time she tried to open it up again. We put the disk in to re-install it, clicked on the Install button, and the screen came up saying it would uninstall all components. We clicked next, it said everything was uninstalled and displayed the Finish button. That was it. We tried this perhaps a dozen times, with the same result. It will not install. It seems to have uninstalled itself when exiting out or shutting down, and will not reinstall. My daughter is very disappointed; she was really looking forward to playing it. It was really cool for the hour that she got to use it. Unable to get any help from Microsoft because the help screen requires the product ID, which can only be gotten from the About screen in the program, which of course you can only access if you can install the program. Will be returning the defective product.
