This game reminds me of GTA3 in the graphics department. But that's not really a bad thing. If you enjoyed the GTA titles so far, then you will enjoy this one as well. Last night I got the second island of the game's storyline. So far it's been pretty enjoyable other than the way too often foul dialog. So far, there are motorcycles, mopeds, choppertype motorcycles, cars, trucks, and now I found some boats to cruise around in as well as some sports cars. I am hoping to be able to fly helicopters as well...assuming they are later in the game. The in-game music barely cuts it though. Just cruising around the islands are still enjoyable. All in all, I recommend this title to those of a mature audience only...not for the kids due to language, violence, and sexual content.
Entertaining, Yet Fairly Easy {4 Stars}

There isn't a whole lot I can add to the other reviews, but I disagree when some say that this game is challenging. I bought this game about a week ago and I've already beaten it. No guide, no internet walkthroughs, no cheats. Honestly, that's never been the case for me with ANY GTA game that I've played. Heck, I'm still trying to beat San Andreas (I play straight up with no cheats or guides/helpers) and I've had that game for over a year now. The ending is kind of cheesy too, but it's still a good game and makes for a great pacifier until the next GTA comes out. And at $20, you can't really go wrong anyway.

If you really loved the original Vice City and played the San Andreas game, then you are familiar enough with how the game goes...follow the storyline, do some side missions, find the packages and the jumps, and so on and so on.
This is very easy compared to VC and SA. It took me less than one day to complete all the missions. The graphics were far better than VC and on par with SA. The choices of radio stations were great. The cars performed pretty well for what one should expect in the car you were driving.
If one were to break into any of the GTA games, I would say start with this one as it is so easy.
If I had to change something in it, I would have the characters with the ability to swim as in SA and the chance to buy his own clothing.
I didn't hate it, but it didn't make me go wow either.
Not as good as San Andreas/Vice City but its still great!

Every thing in this game is different to GTAIII except for Liberty City and graphics style. You can buy this game for only 20$ new, just to take that nostalgia trip. The game could have been pumped up to suit PS2 seeing as its been ported from PSP,a handheld system to a proper home console.
I was dissapointed to the fact you cannot swim you just drown to death, like you did in GTA3 and Vice City.
Since my GTA3 copy has been scratched to hell,i decided to buy this instead of buying a new GTA3 copy since i won`t be playing a game that has kind of been forgotten.
My advice is,if you are NOT a hardcore GTA fan and own GTA3-there is almost no need for you to buy this, sure its only 20$ but there is only a new story, character and the additions of motorbikes and clothes changing.
But on the other hand if you are thinking of buying GTA3 and never played it,buy GTA:LCS along with Vice City and San Andreas and forget GTA3.
Noadays GTA3 may be a classic, but its just so outdated, you play a voiceless grunt with no name, the peoples AI is just so stupid(although thats quite funny when they accidently walk into water or if they mitness a death/explosion they will jump off the top of a bridge to see it.
I`m not sure if this is in LCS yet,but in GTA3 near the hospital on Staunton Island and at the side of the desserted Army base there is a path that is right next to the water, knock a pedestrian into it and he/she will drown, anybody near by will all run into the water just to see it,and at the same time drowning, also other glitches like if your car gets pinched off you if you have the car facing the water, the thief will just drive into the water, not to mention your friendly paramedics who will drive into the water.
NEWAYS GB!

The game is all right, but it seems like the game was put together rapidly and with not much creativity or thought into the story line. Basic controls and basic missions.
A step back, but lots of GTA goodness

The Amazon reviews are fair overall. It has slightly better gameplay than its parent GTA III but far from the gargantuan mind-bending achievement of San Andreas. One of the weaker story lines, and the music selection isn't very good. However, the DJ dialog and commercials are the best of all GTA games! Someone transcribed a bunch on wikiquote.org; Leni, the transsexual DJ on Flashback FM, is brilliant.
Another great GTA game short but sweet

A short but sweet game overall Liberty City stories is another decent GTA installment. It's clear by the target of the PSP that was a short but fun ride into another GTA locations. I enjoyed this game a lot and wasn't expecting much reading a couple of reviews.
Story:
Toni Cipriani is a gangster in Liberty City who does odd jobs for the mafia. Often taken for granted Toni allies himself with a mob boss Don, Salvatore Leone, who sees the potential Toni in doing big things. Cipriani must now cut ties with his current boss and risk his life in various mob oriented missions.
Well that's my take on it. Like other GTA games we see tales of violence, police corruption, dirty politics and capitalism at work. If there were another franchise it get rather repetitive but Rockstar does a great job of using all these themes and mingling them into an interesting movie.
I liked Toni for the most part and the voice acting by Daniel Mastrogiorgio and Frank Vincent were great. Characters like the crazed drugged Donald Love were quite a riot along with Salvatore's crazed wife Maria.
Gameplay:
Well the gameplay is the same as the other GTA but instead of doing stuff like eating and working like in San Andrea unnecessary duties like these are cut which for me is a much better game. As mentioned the locations are fine but short we got Portland Island, and Stanton Island as the main areas. The missions though are varied and will never have you bored.
Graphics:
Graphics are about the same as other GTA game as Rockstar reuses the same models for all their games (at least that's what I think). Still though the cutscenes are always a joy to see.
Sound:
Well as mentioned same like the other GTA. We got the radio soundtrack, the pedestrians voices and voices for other objects. The only difference is that the dialogue is different.
Overall: Buy or Rent
Well the game will take veteran gamers only a week or so to pass other gamers it might take more. It's another decent installment that together with Vice City Stories and other GTA will hold gamers over till GTA IV comes out. Allegedly Liberty City is the focal point for GTA IV so it will be fun to see how Rockstar will remake this city.
Its like an update from gta3

This game was like the same as part3, but just some new stuff, i gottan board of this game. GTA is has the same stuff just beating up people, shotting, stealing cars, and the police chaseing after you thats real old and boring, so this game was just the same nonsense.
I suppose you can't go wrong...

...for fourteen bucks (the price for a new game in a certain chain electronics store), but this is a mediocre outing from a company that seems to be resting on its laurels.
Firstly, the graphics are awful. I read the FF:Origins theory, which is plausible, but more likely, Rockstar released a shoddy product in this regard because they knew people would buy it. Heck, the product description boasts "amazing visuals"; the only thing amazing here is how lame said visuals are.
Another problem is control. As usual, your controls while driving are stellar, with different vehicles giving very different feels, but while walking, aiming, or shooting, it is very frustrating. The lock-on can be almost useless at times (the game rarely locks on the opponent you wish), making free aim absolutely vital, but unfortunately, those controls are bad as well. Add the utter darkness present in most of the game, and you have a very frustrating experience.
The story? It's OK, I suppose, but tiresome. Yada yada yada, climb your way up the ranks, etc.; you can pretty much tell exactly what's going to happen. Not that story has ever been terribly important in these games, but this time around, it feels particularly lazy.
However, it is still fun, despite the frustrations. As usual, getting yourself into and out of scrapes with the local law enforcement is incredibly entertaining, and you'll be tangling with cops and rival gangs early on in this one. Hence, I gave 4 stars for fun...
However, Rockstar need to get on the ball. This engine is incredibly tired - it's time for the company to show some of that ingenuity that made Rockstar a force to be reckoned with. This franchise is beginning to suffer from what I would call "Dynasty Warriors" syndrome - with a devoted fan base, they know that anything they put out will sell like hotcakes...
