As a disclaimer, I have played and beaten every U.S. released Final Fantasy game to date. I am a die-hard fan. FFX was incredible, and I eagerly anticpated the sequel. Now on to the bad news...
I have clocked about 35 hours so far into FFX-2 and all I can say is how incredibly bored I am with the game. Here are the reasons why:
1. Visiting each location again during every chapter is getting old.
2. The plot is thin and transparent.
3. AP points are awarded too slowly.
4. Be careful with Lady Luck or else you'll have characters in level 60 when you're only halfway through the game, thus making you chars capable of obliterating everything with a blink.
5. The music is horrible.
6. Your armor/weapon is dictated by your dress.
7. Treasure chests usually contain something lame like a Hi-potion or Ether.
I could go on. Believe me, there are more complaints to reveal. Unfortunately, I feel pigeonholed into playing this game all the way through because of my connection to the series. I'm sure I'm not the only person out there feeling this uncomfortable determination.
If you are considering this game, be prepared to derail what you've loved about FF in the past and play a very immature game.
Perhaps I'm the only one who hated this game

I'm sorry folks, but I was told that since I loved Baldur's Gate and other D&D-style games, I would love Final Fantasy. I bought version X-2 and could barely make it through the 5 minute introdution, which was some Japanese girl in skimpy clothes singing. The beginning of the real game wasn't much better. I'm sure the game has all sorts of things that make you guys love it, and that's great, but for folks who like D&D, Tolkien, and that sort of game, being thrown into a world where the main character is a teenage Japenese girl wearing short shorts, a halter top, and cleavage - oh yeah, and who giggles - was just too much for me. Even my nephews who LOVED the earlier Final Fantasies were laughing at how bizarre this one was. Again, I"m sure it's great for those of you who like this kind of game, but be forewarned - if you like Tolkien and those sorts of characters, this game is not for you.

Finally, a real sequel. I am extremely excited about Final Fantasy X-2, the first female-led Final Fantasy. This time around, it's Yuna's turn. Yuna, Rikku, and a newcomer Paine are traveling to find Tidus, the main character from Final Fantasy X. Yuna, now sporting some girl-power clothes, is the main character in this game. So far, I've read almost every preview on this game, and I know it'll be as great as FFX. The good people at Squaresoft has said that this game has a totally different fighting scheme, and let's all hope it doesn't mess up this game. Overall, this game will certainly be great!

Final Fantasy X-2 was indefinetely a great game. Here are my ratings for the game:
Music- 4/5 I thought it was great but maybe it could have been better adding some music like the previous...
Graphics- 4.5/5 Totally awesome. What more could you expect from a game? The facial expressions matched and the characters looked realistic. But of course, there can always be an improvement.
Story- 4.5/5 The beginning might have been a bit out of the ordinary but it was a nice surprise. Though most people say there's no plot, I thought that the fact that Yuna's looking for "him" is enough. It's a simpler plot but still enjoyable. I better not say anymore or else it might ruin it for some people. ;)
Gameplay- 5/5 I loved the fact that everything you do impacts the final outcome. There is a total of 6 endings that you can get. Though it might be hard at first to get the perfect ending, the game was great. Plus, after you beat the game, you get to play the game again with basically everything you've had before.
Battles- 5/5 Many people didn't like how the fiends could attack you while you were choosing one of the options and how you died easily because you had to wait a period of time before attacking. In my opinion it was great! It was much more "real". I highly doubt that opponents will wait for you to go attack them first before they did. As for the ATB bar, well, I didn't have trouble with it. The monsters took a long time to attack you anyway. (Which also gave you time to choose the appropriate options)
Awesome Battles, Storylines and Graphics Make for Great Game

Final Fantasy X-2 is a truly magnificent sequel to a great game. One thing you'll immediately find an enjoy is the mobility you have in the game. Whereas many felt that the original Final Fantasy X was painfully linear, Final Fantasy X-2 provides you with numerous opportunities for sidequests and minigames at every point throughout the story. The battle system has been completely revamped, changed to a "Dressphere" system that seems reminiscent of Final Fantasy V's Jobs system. Your characters all begin with a default dressphere, however, as you progress, you'll be able to find more and learn all sorts of new abilities to either ravage your enemies or improve your own characters. The battle system does take a bit of getting used to, but once you're fully acclimated with it, it becomes very fun. One of the best parts is the story and missions system: there are actually five different endings you can see based on how much of the game you're willing to explore.
More than that, though, it goes much further than the multiple endings. The game actively rewards you for taking the time to explore stories and missions in-depth. Do so and you'll be rewarded with satisfying plot-events, funny (or appropriately serious) dialogue and some big surprises. Don't do so and you'll find that many plotlines end up incomplete or have resolutions that are rather unsatisfying. That too is part of the fun - watching things go differently and catching things that you may have missed before.
My complaints about the game (and they're minor) are:
- Like the battle system, some of the music is definitely an acquired taste. There are some pieces that are very repetitive and a couple that are just plain bad. Still, I found that I enjoyed most of the music, even without Nobuo Uematsu on board.
- Blitzball - If you liked the blitzball from the first game, then you'll probably be disappointed by the changes. Nothing really works like it used to and it seems like everything is way too fast. A case of a good formula that should have been left alone. Fortunately, there are enough other really good minigames and sidequests to more than make up for it.
Overall Analysis:
Graphics - 10/10
Story - 9/10
Battle - 9/10
Replayability - 10/10
Can you get better then this??

This is going to be a long review but this is a very in debth review.
Story: It has been 2 years sense Sin has been rid of. Now 19 Yuna once the summoner now is a Sphere hunter ( they look around Spira looking for movies spheres telling about Spira's past ) She is looking for HIM ( Tidus, whos name is not memtioned but he is called him ) While looking for him, Yuna finds a mysrty about a man and machina. Something is happining to the temples and she feels that the calm is crumbling under her feet. So Yuna embarks to find out who this man in the sphere is, why the temples are being over run by fiends, and if she can ever find Tidus.
Before rating all the things about the game, lets look at improvments from Final fantasy x and disprovments:
Improvments from final Fantasy x:
1. Voice acting: In final fantasy x, the voice acting was quite laughble, ( Tidus ) and annoying. On FFX-2, this problem has gone away. The mouthes move in time to the voices ( somthing that did not happen in FFX ) and the voice acting seems real. Who ever picked people to voice act in this game did a awesome job. Everyone seemed in tune to there Charecter.
2. Facial, body movments: In FFX facial movements seemed un real. And it only in proved in CGI scenes. In FFX-2 this problem is fixed. Now not only in CGI scenes do the facial movements seem real. In ordinary scenes there facial movemnts seem real. It was unbelieveible!!!!
3. Dresspheres: Can't say I like em or not. They are prety cool, you can turn into diffrent things ( jobs) like, White mage ( healer ) Dark mage ( what Lulu was in FFX ) Gunner ( attacker ) Warrior ( Attacker ) and MANY more! The only thing I hated was that they seemed out of place, in a FF game. They were great but out of place.
Disprovments from FFX:
1. Battle mode: What in the world? Why did they go back to ATB charging???? FFX had a great way of attacking, you could see what you were going to do before being attacked by fiends, plus not having to wait a horrible long time before and after attacking. This happened in other FF games. And is brought back in FFX-2. Why? Don't ask. It seems like a bunch of button mashing. You could not see what you wanted to do before being killed. : (
2. Music : The music in FFX was so beautiful! In this game it takes a turn and becomes happy. ^_^ The music in FFX was haunting and eerie, in FFX-2 it's happy. Also J pop was fetured in it. Okay, i LOVED the j-pop, 1000 words and real Emotion were great!!!! But the rest was'nt that hot. Zanarkand Ruins, Memories of light, Anything goes for Leblanc, Bevelles secrets, and those 2 j-pop songs were the only songs that stood out.
3. Sphere grid: I was once a hater of the Sphere grid ( leveling up ) but after time I got used to it and I liked how I felt i was in control of my charecter. Like I was really them ( that sounds odd ^_^ ) In FFX-2, it is normal, after fighting fiends you level up, and gain HP AND AP AND MP points by itself. Never knowing what you are getting next.
I can't understand why they brought back ATB and way they took back Sphere grid.....
Over all:
Story 5/5
Music: 4/5
Battle modes 3/5
Facial cutscnes : 5/5
Oh!!!! I forgot to memtion: there are 6 diffrent endings, the best ending you have to get 100% done in the game. Like talk to people a certin time, and most of all, win mini games. If you want the best ending, you can find it online. Go on gamespot.
Over all 5/5 You basiclly just have to get used to this game.
Hope this helps!!!! : ) Also recromended: Kingdom hearts, Final fantasy x, Kingdom hearts Chain of memories.

I was very disappointed with this game. Square really took a lot of gambles with it, and I think most of them were for the worse. This is a sequel to Final Fantasy X, which occurs 2 years afterwards. Unfortunately, the only playable characters are Yuna, a new character named Paine, and Rikku. Why they brought back Rikku is unfathomable to me, as she is hands down the most annoying character ever in a Final Fantasy, and her constant presence in FF X-2 severely hurts the game. I actually found myself cringing whenever she spoke, hoping she wouldn't say something awfully cheesy or lame.
The story is somewhat intriguing, but the fact that the game is so non-linear makes it very difficult to keep it fast-paced. At one point you'll find yourself finally getting into the story, but then all of the sudden you're back chasing chocobos and some other BS (that is, if you want to get the perfect ending). The completion requirements are awful too. I can understand different endings, but the only way to get a perfect ending is to do absolutely ridiculous things, which would be impossible to know without the strategy guide. For example, if you don't speak with a moogle within the first 5 minutes of the game, you've ruined it forever and cannot hope to get the perfect ending. You essentially have to do every annoying minigame, etc. I think the completion is really a step backwards for Square.
The battle system was decent, though I got annoyed with the dress spheres after a while. I certainly prefer FFX's approach to battle.
The music in this game is terrible. Gone are the engaging sounds of Nobuo Uematsu, and in its place are terrible synthesized garbage. Besides a few notable songs, the music is worth muting.
Overall, this game is a big departure from previous Final Fantasy standards, and not a good one. Hopefully this is an anomaly for Square, and their new merger with Enix doesn't mean that we'll be getting more games like this.
Wow....I.....cant beleive it.....

This is a major dissapointment. I just got this game for Christmas and have kinda just begun just did a couple missions and im not one bit interested. The whole time i just felt like turning it off and playing anything else but i tried to give it a chance and thought to myself" Ill play some more it's gotta get better then this" Well it hasnt and the only thing that really kept me on it was the nice clips of yuna, paine and rikku jumping around seriusly(ok i admit im a perv :P) Oh yeah get ready for to hit mute THEY SING and its so annoying make sure your dads not near he might think your gay if your a guy. all of the little missions/sidequests are stuid annoying long boring. Theres to much of them yapping about absolutely NOTHING at all. You go around looking for spheres to find out what happened to tidus. Good idea except all the spheres you get are completely useless mostly all scenery videos. Unless you NEED this game for the series for collection like i did then go get it if not then forget it. If you need a fun RPG to play go buy final fantasy 8, 7, 9 or 10 there cheap and fun while this is expensive and boring. Trust me i thought this was going to rock im very angry....

This is the most ridiculously stupid game er RPG I have ever played. I would say everything about it sucks but the battle system is kinda cool accept it kinda kills it with the irritating class changing thing. To sum it all up the characters are crap and they remind me of Charlies Angels on stereroids. There voice acting is also pretty pitiful. The story sux because you have to go through half the game until you actually know what your trying to do, and the music is pretty crappy because it sounds like a friggin jazz/wannabe Meriachi band. O and whats up with the 3 main and ONLY characers bein female. They should have atleast brought Auron back or something. In fact this game sux so much I went out of my way to right a review on it.
Shoulda rented it first

I have played about 3 or 4 hours into this game, and it already gets on my nerves. The lead characters are about as annoying as they come, and the monsters are pretty lame. So is the plot. What little of it there is, that is.
All is not lost, though. the animation is outstanding! That alone is worth the play. The play is very fast-paced, all most too much too fast at times, but done very well. I can also appreciate the fact that even though the girls all have access to similar dress spheres, they look different when "morphed". It's litt;e details like that which keep my interest.
I got my hands on the strategy guide, and I'm hoping that will help a bit as I am admittedly not familiar with the Final Fantasy series. I got this as a birthday present; it looked like fun, and the reveiews were all relatively positive.
I give 3 stars mainly because it's a bit too loose for my tastes. I enjoy non-linear play, but this is a bit too extreme; it could stand to have been divided into acts to make it more manageable. I also like a bit of plot, but there wasn't much here to keep the game moving besides looking for dress spheres. In all fairness, I have had a lot of distractions since then, and this is a game where you should be able to block out a lot of time to play it, and I haven't been able to because of work and life. Not a bad game overall, but I can think of other games I enjoy a lot more.
