Anyone remember Road Rash? The game where you had to fight almost as much as you had to race in order to win? Well, Downhill Domination is basically Road Rash on bikes. With fierce fighting while on your bike while you race some seriously steep and crazy courses. All the meanwhile whih crazy stunts and a fast framerate and sense of speed(something Road Rash series had lacked because of the old technology back then) It will also have a 4 player splitscreen mode so bring 3 other friends to race you. This game is made by the team responsible for Twisted Metal 1, Twisted Metal 2 and TM:B so you know it's gonna be wild and with the recent praise and high scores from gaming magazine EGM, it looks like this one is one to watch out for.

I'v read about this item in biking magazines. I myself am a downhiller. they actually used a pro downhiller and used his movements to make the game as real as possible. Theres some atitude in the game such as you can throw water bottles and stick obects in others spokes. I'm really excited for the game and can't wait to try it
Pretty good

Downhill mountain biking is relentlessly fast, extremely dangerous, and not for the faint of heart. Same goes for Downhill Domination, which delivers more frantic speed thrills than most extreme games. It's neither inaccurate nor an insult to call Downhill Domination "SSX on dirt." Not only do players choose one of 14 characters and careen down 27 enormous international mountains while busting tricks, smacking opponents, and collecting power-ups, but the controls are nearly identical, too. All stunts are performed with the shoulder buttons plus Triangle as a modifier (and it's not always comfortable). As you earn cash, you'll upgrade your bike and unlock goodies. Downhill Domination features an incredible sensation of speed and a canted camera that will make you leave your stomach at the top of the mountain. Narrow trails, treacherous terrain, and the fast gameplay really ratchet up the tension-it's hard to keep up, and you almost forget to do tricks in the mad scramble to stay upright. Avoiding polar bears, mountain goats, hikers, vehicles, and maybe even a sasquatch or two is all part of the frantic fun. Less enjoyable is the amazingly blatant product placement-bike brands like Trek and Specialized make sense, but while you pedal, billboards for online auction sites and energy bars peddle under the guise of earnable sponsorships. Gamers will tire of it quickly, along with the repetitive voice quips and lackluster music-whee, rap about bicycles! Action-sports junkies should at least rent Downhill Domination to experience its admirably difficulty and teeth-rattling sense of chaos. It's not for the weak.

This game is amazing ... the graphics are superb, and you really get a feeling of flying down the hill. this game is a total blast. the physics feel real for the most part with a bit of an extreme edge -- gravity is a bit lite, but hey, its a game.
definite thumb's up!
Great game!!

this is soooo kool, i rented it 2day. i kno people say its like ssx. ive seen my friend play that game, and i dont kno if u get money. if u dont, then this game is a mix of ssx and tony hawk, cause u get money , buy bike parts, wheels and al sorts of othr stuff, u can even change the sponsers. there r 13 or 14 karakters, includin 5 pros and 5 or 6 startin karakters that have a sport they master of ther own ( like a guy Ajax, likes basktball, and this english dude gots sokker) there all good. ive onli played 2 courses and there so koo, this is a must have game. i think its the best PS2 game evr.ur dumb if u dont like it and dumber if u dont wanna try it. Srry if im bore u, its just this is the koolest game in history.
p.s.- u have attaks like stiks and water botles u throw, u kik and punch, and even chek oder peple. this is a VERY,VERY, XTREME GAME
Not accurate to compare to SSX; SSX is much better

Although I currently own only 2 games (SSX and DOA2), I am always on the lookout for new games to purchase. I had seen the commercial on TV for Downhill Domination which looked great & read the Amazon reviews which were all outstanding.
However once I started playing the game, I realized that Downhill just isn't as fun a game as SSX or SSX Tricky. Although the graphics are awesome and it does give you a rush of adrenaline speeding down a mountain, there were too many things I didn't like:
1. Blood: Call me old fashioned but it's not necessary to be so bloody when a rider crashes off his bike. If anything, it's a distraction.
2. Limited course selection: I understand that you have to work your way up to the advanced courses but the courses that are available as a default get repetitive after a while.
I could probably keep going with this list but after all is said and done, I was disappointed with this game overall. Overall grade: C+
Plain gr8 fun!

I myself am not a fan of extreme sport or sport games and never played those kinds at all! except racing. when i got a demo of DD from playstation, i thot i mita as well try it to make the demo disc useful so i start playing it. after playing for 40 mins i thot to myself how darn hard it was. then i quit. then couple days l8r i figured i'll try to enjoy it again. and then it all went UPhill (no pun intended if it was a pun ;) It was then that i was having a blast! Man i loved the speed and those nice turns, jumps and the freedom of almost being able to move anywhere in the mountains. i finally was able to get first place and wow i was so happy and relieve that i was able to finish the tracks. the control are very simple once u get used to it except the trick buttons. the AI for other characters are good making the game quite challenging, not easy and not too hard eithr. it ranks just a little higher than medium difficulty. perfect! and the game is perfect! i'm planning to buy the game once it gets "greatest hits" or when they drop the price. until then $$ is pretty nice considering what you get in the package. very nice! recommended to all xtreme/sports fan out there and if yur not, try it out too. i'm sure u'll grow quite fond of it.
Best game this year

Downhill Domination combines the fantasy effect of SSX and the reality of downhill mountain biking. The controls are easy . If you aren't the most avid gamer you can easily beat the whole game by just setting the game on the easiest level, but still can be set to a very challenging level for experienced gamers. It features actual bikes from brands like GT, Trek, Foes, etc. You can also achieve sponsors like Sobe, Amazon.com, Smith, Oakley, and more. Races include Freeride (long courses where the jumps are natural hits and cliffs), Technical Downhill (Tight racecourses with rocks and trees in the path), and MX (the motocross of mountain biking). You run into tourists and animals, houses and spas, rivers and lava, snow and ice, and tanks and infantry; yet all fit accordingly. You can do tricks and flips from quick backflips and supermans to wheelies. You can also achieve pro riders like Tara Lanes and Eric Carter and their bikes. This game is flawless.
