Its a classic, but......

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 13 / 15

Pac Man in undoubtedly the most successful and one of the most influential video games ever, but today, the original game alone does not dignify the price. Lord only knows why the puzzle game Pac Attack was included in the GB version but not in this version-if they were going to package a Pac game by itself it should have been Ms.Pac Man, because at least in that game the stages change for a minimal amount of variety. Still, beneath the simple veneer lies an incredibly addictive and exciting game, and hardcore Pac Man fans never get tired of Pac Man's one and only board. If you are a Neo Geo pocket owner and a Pac fan and you dont own a GB, buy this. otherwise, check out the GBC "Special editions" of Pac Man and Ms.Pac Man which give more bang for your buck.

It is but Pac-Man

Pac-Man: The story of a yellow circle that has a singular goal in life-to eat endless amounts of dots. He is chased by 4 ghosts who undenyably never give up their relentless chase of our hero. He can stop them by eating power pills, but he has but only four. If you enjoy this epic adventure, then this game is for you. It has the original graphics and sound. It is very challenging, as it always was--now because it has 2 different views to chose from. You can either be able to see one corner of the maze at a time, or the whole thing, which is better than the Game Boy version. I suppose the problem with this game is that it is simply Pac-Man and nothing more. There are no new modes, no new levels, and no new graphics. Pac-Man was a great game, and the legend lives on with this title. Buy it if you like Pac-Man, otherwise move along.

It's loads of fun!

As a kid I remember playing Pac Man at the arcade. I never had enough money to get very good at it, but I did like the game a lot. Now, with my NGPC, I can play to my hearts content. I seem to have become addicted to this classic arcade game and I realize why so many people hold this game dear to their hearts. Great fun and well worth the price.

Poorly implemented with platform controls

Pac-Man was the first NEOGEO game I tried, but I'm ready to send it back (other games are great). The controls don't respond quickly enough in turns to allow a gamer to compete against the computer, even at the lowest beginner level. Initially, I thought it might be my own unfamiliarity with video games, but my teenage son (with thousands of hours of Nintendo and GameBoy experience) got the same result. He gave up in under 20 minutes. Pac-Man was always one of our favorite games, but it is poorly implemented on NEOGEO's platform.

Pixel-Perfect Translation!

That's right, pixel-perfect in scroll-mode. The resolution isn't high enough to display the graphics in full-screen mode. All the sounds and speed stay true to the arcade. It's not that hard to control Pac with the joystick because of the included 4-way controller you insert over the joystick. With this you'll have no problems turning those sharp corners. Unfortunately, all you'll get is Pac-Man though. No options or extras. For gameplay I'd go with this version. But if you want the extras like Pac-attack, you might want to check out the Gameboy color version.

worth it

one good thing is that even with standard shipping..i got this in 2 days...almost as good as the original arcade..the joystick on the neogeo is a little hard.. but the bottom line is..after practice..this game is awesome, and it is SO worth the money

This is a perfect remake of the arcade game, a must buy

Hey parents, not sure what your child wants for Christmas, you do now! This game is awsome for N.G.P.C. and makes you think your in a arcade. If you child does not have N.G.P.C., this is why you should get them one! With only a few "boo-boos" Your child will love it!

Good for Inky, Blinky and Pinky................

This game lives up to its predecessor in more ways than one. Though it looks exactly like the original, it also maneuvers like the original and the only ones who win at this game are Inky, Blinky and Pinky. My 3 year old son loves this game, however, because PacMan keeps getting eaten.

Pixel Perfect And Far Beyond Nintendo's Pitiful Attempt.

I don't care if the Game Boy Version of PAC-MAN came with PAC-Attack as a bonus game. The NEO*GEO version of the classic sticks true to the original in terms of graphics (Even if Scrolling Is Enabled). Only a handheld system more advanced than the Game Boy like The NEO*GEO Pocket Color could fit the bill for PAC-MAN. If The Game Boy Advanced can deliver a good version I'll try it. But for now, only the NGPC has it Pixel Perfect.

A nice little pocket version of Pac-Man

This is a great pocket version of Pac-Man. The Neo Geo Pocket control stick is difficult at first to get to respond as quickly as it should on sharp turns, but once you get used to it, it gets much easier. If you get the full boxed version you get a little plastic 4-way adapter that you snap onto the control stick to limit movement to up-down-left-right (no diagonals), and that makes the control just about perfect. I didn't think it would do much, but it made a noticeable inprovement in the control. A couple of extra 4-way adapters are also included in case of loss. Other than that, there's not much to say. It's Pac-Man.
