It's Ridge Racer!!! Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiidge Racer!!!!!!!

This game showcases the amazing power of the Playstation 3. With features such as realtime gear change Riiiiiiiiiidge Racer is far ahead of the XBox 260 and Wii competition. The only thing missing are Giant Enemy Crab drivers, maybe they will be in Ridge Racer 8.

Okay, let me start off by saying I have completed RR-6 100% and all I do now is race online to get wins and stats, This game RR-7 was really fun at first, I mean I was like wow the drifting, the gameplay, the overall game. Then I got to the extreme battles at 91.4% done and now I have already broken 3 controllers from rage. I can't believe they make you race class 1 cars with special class, I am 5 races away from victory and I know there is no way I will complete this game. The special cars are like a billion times faster than the car you have, Ridge Racer 6 at least made you want to keep playing because you where always so close to winning but it made you work just a tad bit harder to get the win. I almost kicked the PS3 with rage but then I thought "Dang 599.99 bucks" so I took out the game and almost threw it, but then I thought 59.99 lol. so I put it away and walked off. Still I love this game and can't stop playing.
My point is this game is so fun I will keep playing untill I have 100%. All my online friends who have a PS3 like me feel the same way, we are RR vets and always will be and we are all in our 40's. Now remember Japan got the game before we did so the online experience is funny because they blow us out the water but I still tend to get a few wins and give them a good challenge. If you are a drift king, come race with us.
Hope this helps you out and keep gaming.

Online is great

If you have this game and have not found it that hard, go online with it. There you will go up against people from around the world and see how you size up. The game its self is fun, but for me its to arcade. If you like Gran Trusimo, this is nothing like it. The graphics are good, very good actually, and the replay value is good. When you start off it seems like it will be a easy to go through the whole game without a lose but it gets very tough as you move on to faster cars. Online i give it a 5 and if it wasnt for the arcade style of racing then i would give it a higher score then 3. All in all, rent it before you buy it.

Solid Racing Game

I found this game to be very enjoyable even without the rumble feature on the PS3. 'Career Mode' is interesting and gaining cars must be bought or won. Additionally, each brand gives you points for each race you win with THEIR car which puts a new twist in a typical racing genre. I found this product to be more enjoyable than NFS or PGR.

fun arcade racer/party game

I bought this game on the rebound after I went looking for Motor Storm before finding out it doesnt release until feb 27, so I think it may have affected my enthusiasm for the game. I went home and put it in the system and played a few races, started a career mode, and so on, and came to the conlusion RR-7 was a an ok arcade racing game. The career mode doesn't come alive the way Gran Turismo does, and the game play itself is cartoonish, although the visuals and speed of the game are outstanding. So that was my opinion after one day: Ridge Racer 7 was ok. But then, something unexpected happened. I had some friends over to play the new ps3, and after about two hours of dunking on each other in NBA 2k7, someone said "hey, hows the new ridge racer?" I told him it was ok, so we put it on to let the group decide. All of a sudden, the cartoonish arcade racer with the gorgeous visuals and lightning speed gameplay had every one jumping out their seats. Because it lacks the realism of Gran Turismo, it is very easy for a black horse to get back in the race: one spin out or meeting with the wall will not get you out of the race. Almost every race went down to the wire, and the nitrous tanks really add some strategy to what could have been just a flashier version of "Driving USA". If your looking for an in-depth, life-like racer, this is not the game for you. But if your looking for a game that has stunning visuals, the fastest gameplay ever seen in a racer, and loads of excitement, than Ridge Racer 7 on the PS3 is definately worth a test drive.

Weak

I got this title with four others as part of a bundle. Honestly in the grand world of racing games this one, after playing it for a couple of hours, is pretty weak. Sure the graphics look great but the gameplay is totally average. The cars don't seem to take any damage. My 8 year old daughter beat me in two player mode by simply keeping her car pegged the whole time and allowing the rails along the curves to steer for her (ie. she just crashed into the guard rails and ground along them until the road straightened out).

This game is a "3" at best.

This is a Ridge Racer, not a Gran Turismo

Great graphics and cool looking menu. This is the typical "Racing game" and did decent job for that. But...if you love Gran Turismo, probably you wouldn't enjoy much, not for long. What's projected using fabulous graphics is completely against the physics and not even remotely close to real. No braking? No car can take every corner with simple gas lift off... And that whole drift points and nitro thing turned me off. I simply couldn't get into the game no matter how fabulous graphics is.

This is the game fun watching not playing. If you love Gran Turismo, probably better wait Gran Turismo 5.

A lot better than I expected

I generally don't like racing games, well, what I mean is that I usually don't ever think about racing games. But I rented this one when I first got my PS3 and it was a lot more fun than I would have expected. This definitely isn't a simulator, the car doesn't react like a real car. I'd say it's a modern version of Outrun or another arcade racing game like it. You start out with one car and later you can win new cars or the ability to buy new cars. It seems like you can't progress into further tracks without using the new cars. But they drive differently so you first have to do some practicing on the previous tracks. It wasn't that bad during the week that I had the game but I can see it getting old after a while. I'd probably own a copy of this game, but it's not worth $60 to me.

Poor graphics and unconventional arcade driving = poor game

This is my 2nd outing with a Ridge Racer game, the previous being with the original RR for the PSP. I had some fun with the PSP version so I rented this title for my PS3. I was very disappointed.

As you probably already know, Ridge Racer is an unconventional racing game in that you must master the drifting (letting your car slide through corners) in order to win the races. In other words, you cannot hope to win any race without adequate drifting (which in turn gives you nitrous boosts). While mastering drifting is not hard for the average racing fan such as yours truly, the technique gets tiring quickly. It's pretty much the same thing every time, and after a few races you'll probably come to dread cornering rather than enjoying the racing.

So gameplay is problematic. You may also take issues with the fact that none of the cars modelled in RR is a real car. Instead they bear such silly names like Age, Absoluto, etc. This is not surprising given that the kind of drifting advocated in RR is not real at all and there's absolutely no real-world physics involved.

For a PS3 game, the graphics is terrible. While frame rate is good, the tracks (which are probably rehashed from previous RR games, a common practice in the RR series) are surprisingly low-res. This is apparently so when you compare RR's graphics with that of the Gran Turismo HD Concept demo, which is can be downloaded free from the PS3 store. There are very few environmental effects, and the tracks feel way too generic and unexciting.

I absolutely advise against paying the big bucks for this game. If you want to relive the RR drift racing or what to give drifting a try, rent the title or find a demo. In fact, you'll probably get more satisfaction from a PS2 version of the RR series since you'll be paying much less for the game.
