If there are video games taht have truly stood up to the tests of time, it's the Sonic The Hedgehog video game series.

Back in the days when video games for the most part were just plain clean fun and not the gorefests they are now, Sonic The Hedgehog was and still is the defining video game series of my lifetime.

The controls are very good.

While many would argue that the graphics are dated and while they may be very dated by 2004 standards, this game was many years ahead of it's time and I still love every moment of this game.

One of the greatest things about this classic video game that I have enjoyed was the MUSIC! WOW! Looking back on it now, I have to say that the music was just amazing for video game music. I could very well say that I remember the music almost by heart. My favorite level music was on the "Scrap Brain Zone" levels 1 through 3 and let me tell you, I haven't loved video game music like I did on this level.

Overall, the video game music was incredible! If only my Sega Genesis system were still working, I would still be playing this but since age finally took it's toll on both the cartrige and the system, I feel sad at seeing a great era in my life in video games come to a close. I still find myself humming to the music on the "Scrap Brain Zone" level even to this day, years after last playing this game.

Sonic The Hedgehog is in my opinion the greatest video game series of all time. Mario and Crash Bandicoot may offer competition in this field but Sonic The Hedgehog came first for me.

I find it to be one of the greatest entertainment tragedies seeing one of my childhood favorite activies, video games, decline from good clean fun and degerate into nightmare-inducing blood baths of gore, and violence.

Whatever the case between Mario, Sonic, and Crash Bandicoot, let me just say that it is the sillier games like these three game series that have truly lasted as opposed to the countless gorefests that video games that are forced down our throats.

I say, they should re-released the Sonic games that were on Sega Genesis onto an archives video game set for the computer or for the newest video game systems in the near future.

If this game is put back in print, I will be first in line to regain this game so that my children can enjoy the fun I had iwth Sonic The Hedgehog.

Back when Game Gear was head-to-head with Game Boy, Sega pulled out one of the aces in its sleeve: Sonic. And his handheld debut pleasured all who played it. In this game, the main object is to (duh) run fast and beat Robotnik. You can also collect the Chaos Emerald in each level for a "special" ending. Overall, this game is fun and in some places, challenging. The only con is that the Game Gear [used] up too much batteries to play the game for very long, so I couldn't beat it very often. The end.

A Must-Have Game

How it all began...

The Sega Game Gear was the first handheld that Sonic appeared on. I have to say, the Game Gear was a little bit futuristic because it looked more like a Game Boy Advance.

In this video game, Dr. Eggman has built a robot factory on top of South Island. He has captured all of the animals and put them inside his robots to be his slaves and serve his evil purposes. What's worse, his robot factory is polluting the island, which means the wildlife will soon die. Only one hero can save the island--the hero with the type "H" personality (H for hedgehog, that is.) That's right, It's Sonic!

The reason why I like this game is because it is very clever and the graphics are great, and it has really cool music for each stage. Hidden in each stage, you will find a Chaos Emerald. Collect them all to reveal the happy ending. If you end a stage with at least 50 rings, you will get to go to the bonus stage. I like the idea of the pinball-like bonus stages.

Overall, 5 stars. A super fun Game Gear game. Once you play it, I'm sure you will agree.
