Extremely funny, yet somewhat disappointing

"Finally," I thought, "a worthy successor to my beloved 'Day of the Tentacle'." The title and the funny characters alone made me buy "Stupid Invaders" without having read any reviews. And, to make this clear, I do not regret it. The jokes are hilarious, although somewhat immature (potential players need to be able to see the humour in sex change operations and cow dung). The game is rather short and can be completed over the weekend; think of it as watching an interactive movie rather than an adventure game.

The greatest shortcoming of "Stupid Invaders" is, alas, the game play. The interaction of the characters with their environment is very limited: each room has no more than a handful of items to manipulate. As your inventory never contains more than four items, solving puzzles simply becomes "apply everything to everything." The puzzle quality varies: most puzzles are logical (you discover an item and you know what to use it for), some even ingenious, others are merely bizarre (you hit a huge metal door with a metal hook, which makes loud clanking noises but doesn't open it; you then smash a nearby pipe simply because you can, then you hit the door again which subsequently explodes -- only then do you realize that the pipe released gas and hitting the door made a spark etc. etc.). If you become stuck (NOBODY will have the patience to figure out the teleportation room), you can look up the solution in the game manual. You cannot "misuse" items, but unlike in "Tentacle", it is possible to kill your character by taking a wrong turn, so save often! After a while, I found the user interface to be somewhat clunky: for example, you have to use the keyboard to bring up the inventory.

Executive summary: a highly entertaining little game, but don't expect a second "Tentacle."

I'd Give this Game One and a Half Stars If I Could!

THis was the most offensive, lame, and, well, STUPID game I've ever played!!!! First of all, the swearing, disgusting humor, and inappropriate descriptions get so frequent and annoying it isn't funny! I only played this game up to where you get out of the bathroom of the abandoned house, but from my friend's description of the REST of the game, well, let's just it pitches a perfect no-hitter to those of you like me who have to tolerate inappropriate humor but hate it(there are others like me out there, aren't there?) This game is a total waste of money. Don't wait up for a sequel.

The name says it all

How can I describe a game like Stupid Invaders? Well, picture a colorful, animated world, populate it with colorful, animated characters, then destroy it with bathroom humor and tons of bugs and you have Stupid Invaders.

I'd describe the plot, but there doesn't seem to be one. Seriously. A spaceship containing five misfit aliens crashlands on Earth, and it's up to you to lead them home. Sound easy? Well that's because it is. The game contains the usual amount of "puzzles" for an adventure game, but they are all really, really easy and the solution is never more than a few clicks away.
The colorful graphics and constant barrage of jokes suggest that this game desperately wants to be a monkey island clone, but it fails on so many levels. One particular way Stupid Invaders falls short of its goal is the humor. I happen to be rather immature, so a few of the jokes made me laugh out loud. But the majority of society has much better taste than me, so unless you are a fan of fourth-grade potty mouth humor, I'd stay away from this one. On top of all this are the incredible number of bugs that occur during this game and the space it requires. (a whopping gigabyte!)
"So," you are probably asking yourself. "If you didn't like it this much, then why didn't you give it a lower score?" The answer is that Stupid Invaders is useful as entertainment, but not as a game. As I mentioned before, several jokes had me cracking up. Also, the graphics are incredibly crisp and the video sequences are amazing.
But probably the best thing about this game are the characters. There are five aliens that you alterately control: Etno (the geinius), Stereo (the nerd) Candy(the transevestite), Gorgeous (the gruff but caring cook), and Bud (the really stupid one). They may be stereotypical, but the voices are of such great quality that you overlook the stereotypes. Plus, each alien has an amusing little touch that keeps things interesting(Stereo has two heads, Etno sounds appropriately British).
Over all, if hideously easy eye candy is not your cup of tea, you might as well pick up The Longest Journey or Lighthouse. But if you are willing to lower your standards for two or three hours(since that's how long it will take to beat this game), then Stupid Invaders is for you.

Best adventure game I've played in a long time

I was quite a bit skeptical of this game before I started playing it. The packaging seemed to lack something, still can't put my finger on it. Boy, was I surprised!

This game is reminicent of the old Lucas Arts adventure games like Maniac Mansion, Zack Mckraken and the Alien Mind Benders, and Day of the Tentacle. And, In a lot of ways it's much better.

The 3D graphics are stunning, colorful, and imaginative. The characters and situations are incredibly funny, making you laugh out loud at times. The puzzles are not as complex as typical adventure games, which is something I liked a lot. Going through 30 rooms looking for a rusted nail isn't my idea of fun. This game is a deffinite hit, and I recommend it very highly!

I've been waiting all year for this game, and I just got it the other day (And beaten it just last night). And I must say, I'm a bit on the dissapointed side. The game is WAY short. It took me about 5 hours on my first try. And the videoclips: They were good, yes, but it froze my computer once in a while. And this game takes up too much space in my opinion. And finally, the humor is so immature that, heck, I lost my appetite for supper while playing throughout the Dung Factory! Here are some lines that resembles immatureness: "Pro. Helmut's the greatest sex change sergeon in the universe!"; "Your butthole is going to take me back to my planet"; "It's not over until the fat lady farts".

Now that I said the only bad things about this game, here are what's worth it: The graphics are wicked! The characters are worth looking at (I've never seen Space Goofs, so I don't know much of them), and the music is top notch.

FINAL GRADE: B- FINAL THOUGHT:Too short even if it were twice as funny, but with $30, not a bad game.

Not perfect, but still a blast to play.

First and foremost, Stupid Invaders is not for everyone. People who a)only prefer the most complex and challenging adventure games possible and/or b)have trouble tolerating bathroom humor should steer clear. Those who can tolerate an intermediate adventure and can tolerate gross-out humor(i.e.those who enjoyed Conker's Bad Fur Day), however, should have a fun time.

The game is basically the conclusion of a Fox Kids show entitled Space Goofs from about two years back. Several aliens shipwrecked on Earth have been living in an abandoned house for years, and now it's time for them to try and get home. Unfortunately, the evil alien collector Dr. Sakarin, his hitman Bolok, and a lack of dung fuel(Don't ask)will hinder them a bit throughout. That's where the player comes in.

The puzzles in this game range from the obvious to the difficult. The main problem I had with them was that some of the puzzles consist of doing very specific things that you wouldn't think of without any hint, and I had to refer to a strategy guide frequently. Thankfully, this didn't happen often.

The graphics and sound are undoubtedly the games' standout features. Much of the game consists of prerendered FMV video, and it looks absolutely gorgeous and crisp. The music and voice-acting is also top notch.

Stupif Invaders is, unfortunately, a bit short. With determination, I was able to beat it in a day. Replay value is also limited, though some might want to replay it for the great cutscenes. The first time, however, is likely to be a blast for many.

Based soley on the 1st review of "trust me" I purchased this game as a challange to my 100+ gaming conquers .... Well? Grim Fandango meets Toonstruck is my initial conclusion. If this is what the gaming world in adventures has in store for the pentium series computers, then I won't worry about throwing away my old Dos games. I loved the game. Would I play it again? Probably 5 more times. This will become a repeat classic ...

This is why we were drawn into this genre to begin with, something that adventure gaming has lost touch with in the past five years..Carefree, imaginative settings and antics depicted with artistic integrity and vision..Why can't more adventure games bring back this golden ideal..Soon the grips of "reality" will have us all in check and we will have forgotten what it is we were wanting to escape from in the first place..

the best game ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
