Great Game

This along with the others in the series are some of the best online games I have ever played. You get the interaction and excitement that games are all about and you get it without any fee for the online experience. You just can't beat it.

Nightwars is worth the money!

I have played many video games but this is my first online RPG. I bought Nightwars for my young daughter and myself to play. We have both really enjoyed playing this game together. We have enjoyed designing our own characters and selecting quests. Great fun. Graphics are great.

it is fun...

This is the second game in this series that I have bought. It is even better than the first chapter, Prophecies, and one of the most entertaining I have played to date. Between this and Prophecies, I am definitely hooked on MMORPGs now. A must have for any gamer.

I have the first two (Prophecies and Factions) along with Nightfall. Of the three, I have to say that Nightfall is by far my favorite. The Heroes really do make a difference when you play alone and with friends. The 3 of us who got this game are having a blast. It has put new life into our nearly 2 years of playing and we look forward to even more releases.

Pros: Graphics are great! Fun. Easy to play solo, if you choose, by using the Henchmen.

Cons: hard to figure out what to do. you can mow through a few quests, but then it takes some work to figure out where to find more.

Overall, I like. I'm still torn between the fact that the world is instanced outside of the towns. I can't wait to see how Guild Wars 2 handles this kind of stuff.
Play it! Get ready for the expansion and GW2.

One of The Best Titles out there

I will not extend this review too much since I'm in no way an expert on MMO type games, mostly I've always played RTS and RPG games since they allow me to play against a computer oponent following a story and IF I want to, go online and play against human oponents. So my first experience with an MMO has been great. I did try out the other popular MMO out there as I am a fan of the Warcraft series RTS games, and I found it a little too cartonish for my taste, plus the fact that you run solo most of the time unless your friends come online and of course I really don't like to pay a monthly fee, that compels me to play every day to get my moneys worth. I think the business model for Nightfall is really great, is an MMO alright but they don't charge monthly fees or force you to buy any of the other campaigns in order to experience the full game and it's story line.
Speaking strictly about the game, the graphics are absolutely stunning and the game play is really easy on the beginner (such as myself). It does take a while to get used to the keyboard controls but once you get it, you'll never lose it. The introduction of henchmen and heroes really add a more RTS feeling to the game since you have to rely on others and in strategy in order to finish some of the game's quests. The inventory system is intuitive and fun to use since the Xunlai Agent adds a feeling of real world to the game. I've seen that the game is really popular as there's always people in the towns or outposts as well as NPCs that may offer some relaxing stories.
It is really easy to get to the level 20 cap just by doing some sidequests (I recommend doing this in Istan since the Kourna part of the main story can prove a little bit too much if you're level 15 or below) and that helps a lot to focus solely on the main story of the game and stop worrying about your current level.
The main story is well told and it is suited for any character profesion without distinguishing between characters.
I will not review the PvP part of the game since that is not what I'm attacted to at the moment but I must say it's nice to have guilds and the possibility to fight with each other when the time comes.
Overall I would really recommend this game to anyone considering a good and somewhat addicting MMO, I will also get the other two campaigns in the future as well as the Eye of The North expansion since I already saw the magnificent quality of this title.
Amazon shipping and price was overall great too, and the game came in flawless condition.

Great MMO, its free too.

This is the first time I've tried out an MMO on my own. I've played WoW and Guild Wars at other times, but have owned neither until now.

The only reason i gave 4 stars is because it took quite some time to get accustomed to. I had a friend that turned me on to the game, and he gave me some help on how to do things within.

The best out of the whole series

I will forgo my usual page and a half review which I normally write for games. Nightfall I just don't feel warrants it. Almost everything is the same in this newer version of Guild Wars. You have eight skills that can be equipped at any one time, there is a point and click battle system, missions and quests, you can have eight people in your party blah blah blah. Everything is essentially the same. The only real difference is the heroes system. In Nightfall you are given a first hero: Koss who is a warrior and he levels up as you do. Also, his armor automatically levels up and his weapon and focus item can be changed. Skills can be earned for the heroes and equipped how you see fit. These heroes become more helpful as the game goes on because they actually do what you tell them to do. They can also be ordered to certain parts of the map. I suppose many players were complaining about the mental capability of the henchmen and sometimes other players. The hero system was Ncsoft's solution. I must admit it is a much better system and playing by myself is considerably less stressful. I really enjoy MMORPGs but sometimes I just want to go and not be tethered by other players.

Now for the bad parts of Nightfall. As I said before, it is more of the same. In some ways this is good, in others it really sucks. The good part is that the learning curve is very small. You can easily learn the basics of the game within an hour or less. Missions and quests follow the same general convention. One of the smaller things that bothers me is that the armor looks the same until you get well into the game. Downsides of the Nightfall's gameplay is it takes maybe 15-20 hours to reach level 20. You stay on what is referred to as "noob" island for your first fifteen levels at least. Once you get to the main continent you are faced with this overwhelming sense of what do I do now? The worst part is you continue to do endless quests and never really see where the story comes in. After about 30 hours in I just didn't see why I should continue playing. The game is boring - plain and simple. Guild Wars allegiance to the 20 level character cap is ludicrous and is the reason why people ultimately will lose interest with the game. For those of us who want to play the game to experience an RPG are left behind those who play PVP. Guild Wars will never come close to the numbers of subscribers of World of Warcraft because the game gets stale after about a month. Yes, you can customize your weapons a little and dye your armor, but an immersive interactive world this is not. Considering the fourth episode in the series just came out recently, many will be flocking to the stores to give money to these clowns who make sub-par cookie cutter games.
