Quite possibly the worse game I have ever played.

It is certainly the worst strategy game ever. Not only was it a HUGE dissapointment, it was just an all-around bad game. Besides from slow units & a horrible interface to work with, the game was plagued with many problems. Some of the bigger ones are that there isn't a costum game mode, and you can't save your games ever! I read some PC magazine reviews that called it "Star Trek meets StarCraft", well this isn't true at all. Each race only has about 3 units that are combat-related, one of wich doesn't even has weapons! Don't buy this game if you're expecting a Star Trek based strategy game with lots of awesome battle units. You get the exact opposite.

Worst Trek game made

So, what was the point of this game? I never could distinguish the baddies from the Feds during alien battles. And, I could never finish the second mission. In my opinion, don't waste your hard earned money on this one. Total waste. If you're looking for fighting on a starship or beaming down to hostile worlds, this is not the game for you. You're better off with "Bridge Commander" or "Elite Force".

Is this even a game?

My God, if this is a game, it needs to be called Destruction Derby because of all the crashes. My computer is WAAAAAAAAY above minimun specs for this game, and I experience crash after crash. The fact that there is no in game save option really [stinks] also because you have to start the mission over after your game crashes. The only reason this game got a star was because the graphics and movies are cool, but as far as game play and interface.... it [stinks]. The game isn't hard, it's just time consuming, and gets really frustrating when you have to restart you computer every half an hour or so because of the crashes. Don't ask interplay if you there will be a patch out soon either, they won't respond, lately they have just been shoving games out on the market half finished and then not providing help to the customers who bought the games. I know I'm not the only person experiencing these problems because I bought the game with three other people and they have them also, and feel the same as I do. Quite frankly this is the last game I will ever purchase from them.

All work, almost no play, and no save.

The 3d aspect of this game certainly makes it interesting to look at, but that's just about where the fun ends.

By the time I made it through the tutorial to learn the game, I was so bored with all the time it took to build a base that I played a little combat just to see what it looked like and then shelved the game.

This game requirs a lot of work to play. Much time is spent on base building and upgrading structures several times so you can assemble a useful fighting force. The designers might have done a careful study of the Command and Conquer games to see how to build an efficient user interface.

Finally, you can't save your game during a mission. If your computer crashes, the doorbell rings, the baby cries, etc. you just have to walk away from your machine or lose your game. Sheesh!

My advice: Get Emperor of Dune. Now THAT's a 3d RTS game!

Good Idea - Horribly made

As the title said it is a great idea and looks like the best star trek game ever then you start to play. First mission-explore, explore some more... fight the klingons OCCATIONAL RAIDS then explore some more...that continues to keep going for a long time until tour mine runs out of resources (constantly)! I could live with all that but no, they can't bother with the must have common sense option any worthwhile game has, The SAVE button. Personly I was imagoning security officers runing up in front of a tank fireing at some klingons, and all that classic stuff. But No they decided not to put in infantry! Basicly I am supprised I gave it 1 star.
!DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

I love Star Trek, so all movies, games, and books I can afford and get my hands on I buy. This game is a real disappointment. Don't bother buying it if you have any kind of an up-to-date computer, it won't run on XP Pro. I did get it to run on Win2000, only to discover it wasn't worth the effort.

This Game Sucks

The controls are hard to use, it's almost imposible to order your units to attack enemy units because they move to fast. The 3D graphics are terrible and the sound is mediocre. The game says you can play multiplayer on 56K or better but you realy need DSL or something. The so called tricorder is imposible to use. The missions are way to hard and you can only save at the end of your mission so you'le end up playing for hours trying to finish. If you want good 3D strategy dont look here.

too bad there aren't any negative stars

Whew, first of all, this game ..., second it is NOT star trek, the whole idea is stupid, It's too bad interplay even made an effert to put this game out when they could have put some more time into Klingon Academy( a great game, would have been better if it had some work done to it, 2 patches later and everything still hasn't been fixed), This game has issues, very buggy, very unhelpful mission briefings(you play around for an hour and a half untill you stumble on what it is your soppossed to do), the graphics really aren't that great or inovating, the movies are ok, one thing it has going for it is that the manual has doesn't have any spelling error's? ( at least thats what pcgamer says)

It's time for interplay to live by thier motto " By gammers, For gammers" and finnish " Secret of the Vulcan Fury " it's a preview on starfleet academy, They have all the voice actors for it done, including the late DeForest Kelly, also the grapics on the preview looked really good and the story was compelling, But interplay is more concerned with making a fast buck instead of putting a " Finnished " product on the shelf.

A star trek maniac

How could a real time stragety game be so bad? I was excited about the game when I first got it, but after I beat it I was so dissapointed about it. Save yourself the trouble and think before you buy this game.
