Blows everything else away...

I couldn't believe how well built this engine was. They must have taken every known annoying bug from every other game and found a solution for it. The game plays awesome, the graphics are beautiful and the music is very appealing (i recommend the bonus tracks available for purchase). The best online game since NWN, it is the next generation of online role playing games.

Great Game. Appeals to both casual gamers and big gamers.

Guild Wars is a great game. Weather you're a big gamer who likes to spend many hours playing or just a casual gamer like myself who only plays for a copule hours per day at most, this game appeals to you.

It's not fully MMORPG because they only time you get to interact with other real players is inside a city/fortress/outpost. However, you can always join a guild and form parties to make it funner. The storyline is a pretty straight forward "good vs evil" story dealing with the survival of the Human race against the savage Charr. The game itself is also straight forward and doesn't require that you study the entire game manual to actually know what you're doing.

Overall, it's a good game that doesn't require a lot of time and a top of the line computer. Plus, unlike most other MMORPG's, Guild Wars has free online play. It's a great game. I highly recommend it.

I played this game during the open beta.

Graphics: The graphics in this game is amazing. As you look into water (lets say there is a dock/boat near you) it will reflect onto the water with the hazy look that you see when you look into water.

Gameplay: Gameplay is perfect with the henchman for solo play. The group activity is active with explore mode and mission modes.

Classes: I have not played many classes (main was ranger/monk), and yes some classes need balancing. For me I loved ranger/monk nice skills mixed in with healing was nice.

PvP: I always hated PvP in mmorpg (eq vet), but PvP in this game is more fair (teams vs Teams) and the ability to choose if you want to fight.

Now on to the whole thing about the being in the same place and not were your friends are: If you played games such as eq and you have lets say 2 friends one on lets say T-Marr and the other on Xev. Your stuck unless you pay to move the characters. These "distrects" are used to balance the server so to lessen lag. Yes you can switch dictrects to meet with your friends (without pay;p).

Overall: This game takes what was good with games such as eq without the monthly fee.

This is a fantastic game, of much higher quality than most MMORPG's out there. Yes, impo WOW is better, however it also costs hundreds of dollars more if u wish to play it for even a year.

This game has high quality graphics, vast map (after you finish your initial training of the game), FANTASTIC STORYLINE/PLOT (something that is very rarely implemented WELL into a big online game), the learning curve MIGHT be slightly steep for some, since the gameplay is quite unique and the structure of the game takes time to learn.

Final Judgement: This game provides for more quality than it charges for. One pay to buy the game and no monthly fee, unlike many other games out there that are not worth the incredible overcharge.

ONE OF THE BEST MMORPGs EVER!!!

this game is not as good a WoW. Its graphics pale in comparasin and the clases are so easy to master, you cant even choose your race, Besides all of those bad points it still kicks. it doesnt cost a monthy fee so u dont have to wory about that, and the story line is realy dense.

my new procrastination tool....

great MMORPG but lacking

I would like to start by saying this game is very well laid out as an MMORPG, but it is lacking some features I found enjoyable in other games such as WoW (World of Warcraft) and Everquest.

To start with the good:
1. The graphics on here rival that of The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind as well as the background scenery etc. is varied much and it just makes you want to stop and stare at it for a while

2. I don't know what the technical term is but the characters in this game move and fight as they would in real life, sure it gets korny after a while watching your warrior slash and stab, but at least it isn't obvious polygons like Final Fantasy VII

3. The players around you are either very annoying or very helpful, fortunately I've encountered the VERY helpful folks in my travels, but also the naked female elementalists dancing for the newcomers was a sight as well.

4. The game is VERY emersive and you get drawn in quickly. Maybe its the size of the map you can explore or just the fact that each zone has something COMPLETELY new for you

Now for the downsides of this game:

1. Like I said earlier, it gets kinda korny that every spell you cast uses only two different character motions, as well as the warrior only slashing and stabbing (what is that shield there for?)

2. Again as I said earlier, this game is lacking features from other MMORPGs such as the ability to fletch your own arrows or smith your own armor and weapons (Everquest). Although they did add in a "Salvage Kit" that allows you to break down just about every item in the game to the basic crafting components you still have to go to a weapon crafter and literally turn in your materials for a newly crafted weapon or armor. Another feature that just annoys me is the fact that you can't gain experience from monsters too high or too low for you to solo. VERY VERY annoying when you feel really proud for killing a lvl 18 and you cry when you don't get jack squat.

3. Final thing that I don't like about this game is the level max. I've heard rumors that they might increase the max but the highest lvl you can reach is lvl 20!!!! Even in Everquest or WoW you can reach lvls 60 and 70. Maybe there is a mod or the creators will send out an expansion pack that would increase the max lvl you can reach. But for now you have to attain lvl 20 and then group with 4 other people that are lvl 20 as well to take on the lvl 24 creatures. Its sad but I'm hoping there will be something to change this (the fact that creatures are higher lvls than you'll ever be is quit annoying).

I rate this game 4 stars for its superior quality, graphics, and gameplay but also for its side effects.

Regarding Netgear router & general review

Just saw a review from 9/13/2005 about Netgear Routers not being supported...totally false. You have to do some extra configuring because of the way Netgear is setup, but it's perfectly doable. All that kid had to do was look up how to do it on the support website. It's one of their FAQ, and it easily walked me through it.

As for the game itself, it's good. Definately better than any other MMORG game I've played before (Ragnorak,Everquest) (better graphics, better story, better missions/quests). I love that it's only multiplayer in the towns so that you're not fighting anyone for monster loot. I also love that it stops at level 20...evens the playing field for for those of us who cannot spend hours upon hours leveling up because of life committments.

One thing I wish they had was a merchant class...as much as I love quests and bashing, I also like to have a merchant character to sell/buy all my loot (as I had in Ragnarok Online). But it's not a show-stopper.

I haven't joined a guild yet, so I cannot comment on that aspect.

And at the end of it, you just can't beat the fact that they don't charge you to play online.

Highly recommended. :)

Love this game. I havn't been an online player in the past, but I love it. It's great that there are no subscription fees. Other players are very friendly. But, there are jerks in every croud. The few there are don't bother me. I hope to see you there.

Great Game-A Bit Repetitive

First off, this is coming from a former WoW, EQ. and CoH player. This game is vastly different from the others because there is less social interaction. Most of your time is spent doing missions and quests with your group in an instanced zone(only made for you and your group). Thats ok, but its not too much massively multiplayer. The choice if making a lvl 20 from the start is very good, and if you're in a guild that might need a level 20 monk for some PvP, you can go make one at the highest lvl. The quests are fun, the amount of skills there is is great, and no monthly fees. Hard to say no to a game like Guild Wars.
