I LOVE Scrabble! I have had as many as 6 different types of the game - travel editions to deluxe and I really love the computerized version with a handy embedded dictionary and the ability to play alone or with a friend or with a computerized opponent of the level you choose! I have been broadening my skills and vocabulary with every game! I highly recommend this game for word lovers - this Mac version is superb. I had an older one that I liked - but this one is the cat's pajamas!

I'm a little confused by reviews here that unfavorably compare this Mac version of Scrabble to other Scrabble games. I personally find this to be an excellent rendition of the classic word game. My wife has two PC versions of Scrabble and I like this one better than both of them. I suppose it may be all in what you get used to. This one works perfectly well on my Macbook and I really, really like it !

I love words games and of course, Scrabble is the King of word games. I love the different levels of opponent. Most of all I like playing Scrabble when I feel like it, by myself.
It cheats!

This game is well done, fun, and addictive, BUT it cheats. There are a small number of words in its dictionary that do not appear in the Official Scrabble Players Dictionary (4th edition). It beat me tonight (barely) by using GADJO. If you look this up in the OSPD4, it isn't there. If you look it up in its own online version, it's there, but with "Definition not available". If you look it up in Google, it's a Barcelona-based gypsy-ska group, which gets its name from the Roma word for non-Romanji people. (That's the sort of obscure word that Scrabble lives by, but to use such a word when it is NOT in the OSPD is just cheating!) This is the second or third time in a year or so that I have encountered one of these. Grrrr....
Too many unusual words

If you really love Scrabble, this version of this game is not going to keep you playing a lot. But if you are a new or curious gamer, it's going to be interesting enough for getting into your collection.
Good points:
+ Nice interface.
+ Great English dictionary included.
+ Nice basic options.
+ Good strategies from the computer when you play against it.
Bad points:
- It is limited to just 2 players in a single game.
- You don't see your letters when it is the turn of the other gamer.
- There are not very advanced options, as changing rules of the game, or give another pointing system, etc.
What I would like to see in future versions:
* All the previous comments adapted (2+ gamers at a time, seeing your letters when it is not your turn, having advaced options).
* A internet-enabled real time multiplayer game option. The tournament option would be so great!
* The possibility of having not just English, but Spanish, French, etc. included, and switch the language for a complete game (a single match to have a single language).
Not the same

I was so excited to find a scrabble CD that would be Mac OS X.5 friendly. This is it BUT, it is not the same game that I played on my OS 9. Not at all. The graphics don't compare, but more importantly, it doesn't "challenge" when your word is incorrect. Plus, there aren't the exercise games I used to play like 2 letter, 3 letter, anagrams, etc. Also, there isn't a way for more than one player to play the computer. One at a time anyway. No keeping tabs on running scores for other players in my house. It is very disappointing and I hope MacSoft can come up with an up to date game, not so "Mickey Mouse".
Great fun!

I am an intermediate level player and bought this to use on the new MacBook Air with OSX10.5.2. I was pleasantly surprised with the fast loading speed for the game and the ease of use. The board letters are big and bright enough and you can see the countdown for the number of tiles left. No unexpected program quits. Extras like Scrabble dictionary and hints make this a great way to upgrade your skills.
A disappointment!

After years of fun with Scrabble on my Windows PC, I missed the game when I switched to an iMac. I thought this was the answer--but it is an inferior version of the game compared to what I'm used to. For starters, the software locks up, mostly when exiting (but not during a game) once in a while, necessitating a forced quit. I'm also used to a choice of board appearance options, but here there are none. It lacks some of the nicer features I'm accustomed to, even in the cheap General Mills/AOL promotional cereal box version I got for Windows years ago. Sure, it isn't a total waste, it works mostly okay, but if you are used to a really good Windows version, this is minor league quality in comparison. This will get you by if you are a Scrabble-starved Mac owner, just expect hamburger, not filet mignon.

Awesome! At last a Scrabble game for Macs that works with OS 10 and doesn't require that the disc be inserted to play a game.
