Considering this game was supposed to come out this month, October 2000, I'm a little disappointed that I have to wait 6 months to get it ... although I'm used to it by now considering I have purchased many Blizzard products and I am used to delays there. However, Star Trek games have gotten bad raps forever. Recently though, Star Trek: Armada and Voyager: Elite Force have both been superb games, and I believe Dominion Wars should be another similar step in the right direction. One thing I'd like to see now is some, any information on the website ... anything, even a couple of screenshots or a ship description, or the engine they used to create the game. Oh well, I will wait the 6 months in great anticipation.

Dominion Wars is a 3D tactical game that takes place during the two years of the Dominion War that we saw on DS9. You lead a six-ship task force, for either side -- The Federation/Klingons or the Dominion/Cardassians. You lead from your flagship, and each of the other ships in your fleet has its own captain, which you assign, based on attributes such as aggresiveness, command rating and such. However, the combat is all external -- you're looking at your ships, not out from inside them. You can zoom and move around using the mouse You also can customize to some extent the ships themselves. If you're going on a pure combat mission, throw in some extra guns and dump some speed capability, and even stuff like how many engineers or security officers you have on board. Though you only command one ship at a time, there are 24 different ships to choose from, so you can upgrade to better ships or faster ships or whatever between missions. How well you do on missions controls how much money you make, which determines how many upgrades you can get. Keep in mind though -- this isn't a micromanagement game but an action game. And the graphics are awesome.
Also, as an added bonus, in this game you can import captains from the Starship Creator 2 game.

I was looking forward to getting a chance to play the game. When I first played it it was alright. I then noticed bugs. There are so many of them. When you save a game it sometimes loads instead of saving and locks the game up. Also you always have to keep a savefile when you are selecting your crew and ships. The reason for this is after you start your mission there is no way to go back and change your crew or your ship selection. I also found out that you can't control your ships fire. The computer atomatialy controls it unlike kilgon acdemy in, which you basicaly control everything. I was very disappointed about this game and I don't recomend it to anyone.
Finally!

Star Trek titles have been known to be suitable for Star Trek fans that spend countless money to have the latest titles from this franchise. I have been upset in the past with previous Star Trek games that do not push the envelope of gaming technology. My feelings have changed since the release of Dominion Wars.
I have been waiting for this title because I felt that this is a long awaitied title that takes the Star Trek franchise to new gaming hieghts. For an extrateristrial Real-Time Strategy game, it has branched out into a new genre within an already popular genre.
The game looks unbelievable, once you get it running. The game play and graphics are intoxicating as you Warp and blast your enemies away. I would recommend this game but with very little reservation. I am sure the developers at Gizmo will do what is neccessary to make this game more enjoyable and operationable. By the time this review is posted by ... and I click the save button (June 19, 2001), I am sure the bugs will be killed and I will look for a challenger online so I can make them think about coming after me!

I bought the game about a week ago and it has been cool for the most part. The game had way too many bugs though. There are so many that you cannot count them all. Also, for anyone with a ATI Mobility video card you cannot play the game. I have this card and I had too download a different driver that makes the game work, but it slows it down by 50%. I do not recommend this game to anyone. Maybe in a few months they will release a better version than this one. I am very angry that this game was not as good as it could have been.

I got this game yesterday. I must admit I was blown away by the grafics at first. Then I tried to play it for a while. It has a large amount of bugs. The load/save problem is rediculus. Especially when Your on mission four trying to blow up the sensor array. And allready hard mission made much worse when you have to restart the whole thing every time. Plus the interface is booring. I really was Quite upset. I'm returning the game this evening. I just wonder if the'll ever be a good Star Trek video game.
Very Disappointed

....The interface is extremely confusing, the view is always from the outside of the ship, the movements are again 2 dimensional, and to top it off, there are no instructions with it. When you finally figure out how to make your ship do anything there is no room for thinking or tactics, just click "attack" and it gors through it's motions while you sit back and wonder if you're going to win or not. All in all, not well thought out, challenging, or fun. Now I have to countdown again for "Bridge Commander" to come out.
