This is yet another dissapointment for me. I don't know which was work the...boring single player missions, the [people] on XBOX Live or the fact that I can't customize my mech or pilot from the cockpit.
This game starts you off pretty much just running over...infantry. Eventually you'll get on to fighting mechs but the power ups along the way make it pretty easy for you to go toe to toe with most mechs in the game. You'll find Single Player will bore you to sleep.
Now if you have Live it's different. Unlike Unreal Championship this game doesn't have very man lag issues and it's fun to be elementals. The biggest problem I see is the [people] who play with you if there not shout out you about taking there power ups their singing femine hygiene songs (don't ask). Then there are these [people] who put on there voice masker and these use this one called child and they scream there lungs out and it kills your ears.
I gave this one 3 out of 5. If you get past the boring Single Player and all the [people] who play Live you'll have fun for a little while. I'd say if you had to pick a live game go with Ghost Recon...

If you look at how many people are selling this game used you can tell that it stunk. Anyone who is a hard core MechWarrior fan will agree with me. The idea for MechWarrior by the orignal game designer was a game to be played on a COMPUTER with a JOYSTICK and not a gamepad. Also the to fire the PPC you shouldn't have to hold the butten to let them recycle, you should be able to fire right away.(this feature should really be for the bombast laser). The one thing that I did like about this game is that the weapons are made by different conmanies ie arrow IV missles. TO sum it up this game fall short of expatations and Microsoft should do something about it.

Well once again a game with the capabilities to only let two players play. Why is their so many 1 or 2 player games now. The game has 4 ports why not use them or get rid of them! I have a lot of friends over all the time to play multiplayer games that I consider a mutiplayer game is 4 players can play at one time in campaign or head to head! not what these guys are offering. I was very disappointed with Mech assalt when it became apparent that multiplayer is 1 or 2 players, is this what microsoft considers (multiplayer).I had the game 2 weeks before I got rid of it for that purpose.Great game but I have enough of these 1 or2 player(deceiving) multiplayer games! I think if Micosoft keeps this up they will go the route of DREAMCAST,3DO AND ALL OF THE OTHER PRETENDERS to the gaming throne.
DON'T GET THIS

IF you have a computer get mech warrior 4-not this. IT is missing a lot and the ruined the whole bettletech uneverse. you can't even customize mechs!
basically compaired to mech warrior 4;
-a lot of stuff was left out-some stuff was added but more was taken out.
-graphics are slightly better but not much at all.
-both have great multiplay over the internet, however if you have a 56k, again get mech 4-it is not laggy
-explosions are better in mech assault, and you get hurt from them.
-building damage is amasing in assault.
if you are a true battletech fan don't bother with this game. they changed the weapones aroung and added stupid powerups that you can get while you are playing. they made up a bunch of new weapones to take the place of old ones. and they added this stupid thing called a lava cannon.
you don't get nearly as much controls so it makes for a much more simple game over all

If your Xbox has not been patched to fix a certain bug, this allows you to install Linux.
I have no comment on the game itself. I don't buy Microsoft stuff.

I do not have XBox Live, nor do I require it to enjoy MechAssault. The graphics are extremely detailed, the controls are simple and easy to understand, and the gameplay is worth the cost alone (invisibility, jump jets, environments that respond to your attacks, etc.). As I haven't beaten it yet, I can only comment on the one cutscene I've watched so far: amazing. All in all, a good purchase.
There are small but definite cons, however. You cannot customize your mechs, but like 'Halo' the simplicity of the game works in its favor by concentrating on storyline and gameplay. There are a finite amount of mechs available, but the lucky few with XBox Live can apparently download updates to the game that include new mechs.
Just for being a stand-alone game, this receives 5 stars. This game makes a strong case for XBox Live, but also makes a strong case for itself.
good fun great graphics and simple at all.

I just beat it...it is a very nice game. Not a whole lot of skill involved, just mainly blasting things. I haven't tried Xbox Live, but I do wish that the Local Xbox multiplayer was better, maybe a co-op mode or something. Still a very nice game.
Trash people online? How could anyone resist?

When I bought this game, I figured it would be good, but I didn't think ANY game could be this fun. First of all, the campaign missions are great. You get to destroy a technologically-advanced cult bent on mass destruction(Waco, anyone?). If you have XBOX LIVE, you can take on the world, AND download new maps, mechs, and everything else you can think of. Now, I think it needs to be said that MECH ASSAULT is very different from the MECHWARRIOR computer series. But that is not a bad thing. The computer game was okay, but nothing compared to the XBOX experience. My advice is, if you own an XBOX, and you have an irrepressable urge to destroy those weaker than you, then GET THIS GAME!
