Sim Heaven

Everyone knows the sims, the adorable characters roam the virtual house as they go about their pointless lives. The original was an extraordinary game which broke all expectations. What could be added to this masterpiece ? More....

The highlight of the extension pack has to be the vibrater bed, which allows your sims to 'play in bed.' This and other cool updates like : electric guitars, magic lamps, new costumes and five new careers, make the original game a thousand times better. If you've got bored of the sims or just want a change, then this is the perfect add-on.

Yahoo more room more fun!

My son got this for Christmas and thank God he's on break from school, because I know he would be falling asleep in class. He stays up every night playing it and now has gotten me into it. We have so much fun trying to help each other get to work on time and get better at the game and give each other hints a long the way. He even designed his house to look like ours and then started showing me things to put in the backyard. Thanks sims now I have to take out a second mortgage. :)

An incredibly weird addition!

The Sims: Livin' Large is just what everyone needs. It adds five new job tracks. It also added really weird stuff like a lamp that has an unexperienced genie, a chemistry set that can change you in different ways, a crystal ball to improve personalities, and a whole lot more! New wallpaper and floors are added, as well as new doors and windows. With this expansion pack, you can make houses and families with a theme, such as medieval, futuristic, weird, romantic, etc. In the expansion pack, you control five different neighborhoods, instead of one. Overall, this game is excellent. I recommend it for just about anyone.

Startling... but only adding excitement

I have spent more time at the computer with this game and expansion pack than I would have thought possible. I received both the game and the expansion pack in early January and have since spent many nights manipulating my Sim families. After I finish I feel as if I have cleaned my entire house about a thousand times.

I started with just the basic Sims game and quickly felt a need for more options. The expansion pack brought many welcome (and some unwelcome) additions to my Sim families. I am still exploring the different items, such as the crystal ball, the scientist's table, and the telescope, and have many yet to try. The one unfortunate aspect of the expansion pack is that the coolest items have higher prices. You could just leave your Sims living in a hole to try out certain intriguing objects.

I was very surprised by some of the results of interactions with the new objects. If you are attempting to create a successful family, you may be better off with just the standard game. These new objects can create some unexpected setbacks. I suppose there is some good, but it is unplanned. On the other hand, you can entertain your wandering neighbors better.

The aspect of this expansion pack that I dislike the most is the possibility of cockroach infestations. These are probably the most annoying additions to the game. They are time consuming and thwart other goals. I find it necessary to have a maid now just to rid myself of these pests. Maybe a new added service should be a monthly pest control!

On the flip side, my favorite addition is the total number of new options. It is great to have more personalities available, and accordingly more neighborhoods to put them in. Also, your Sims can now have fun while learning. An amazing new concept!

Overall, I highly recommend this addition to anyone intrigued by the original game.

A nice add-on but not worth the cash you have to shell out

It's nice they added so many new things.. but you can get most of them off the internet.. I don't know about other sim gamers but it seems a little too bizarre for me. The garish new objects and the bizarre new (and totally infeasible) lifestyles and toys, including Genie (i'd like one in reality but...) voodoo doll (take that 6h grade math teacher!)and odd decor that makes you wonder who the Maxis people hang out with on the weekends (it's illegal to use tigers as your floor you know) really put me off.. the sims sold so well because it was realistic to a certain degree.. this makes it more infintely more cartoonish. Of course.. some of you may want the Munsters next door... if that's what you're looking for.. neat new things (ooh shiny!!) then buy it.. if you want to keep that semi-realistic approach don't get it.. i thought it was ..ok.

Worth the $... for a time

I highly recommend The Sims and the Livin' Large expansion pack. The only drawback to Livin' Large is that, with a few exceptions, it only adds items to the game (i.e. objects, jobs, skins). If you are already tiring of The Sims (which is inevitable with any game), the Livin' Large "expansion" pack will resusitate the game for a couple more months perhaps. Along with that, there are "new" downloadable features of the game on any number of fan-supported websites that contain new and sometimes bizarre skins, objects, houses, wallpaper, etc. This game has A LOT of on-line support, and it is well worth checking it out, but the thrill of that may last an even shorter time because the objects available are basically "unsupported" clones of existing objects that come with the game, only with altered appearances (and they have been rumored to crash the game when used, however the skins, walls and floors out there can be very cool and are generally safe!). At www.thesims.ea.com, registered owners of the game can also get new "official" downloads for the game directly from Maxis, but usually they only provide about two items a month. Although Livin' Large is definitely worth the $ and has many interesting and humerous features, it tends to run dry quickly because it doesn't really change the game any.

I had the same problem as the gamer above about installing and running. The only way I could solve this was unistalling the original The Sims and then reinstalling them both.It has pretty much worked right for the most part,a few crashes here and there, but have enjoyed it tremendously.Bad part about it is that you lose all the skins and stuff you had downloaded on there when you uninstall.Just went back online and redownloaded,no prob. Try installing it this way and enjoy.

Time to have a bigger family

Install this expansion pack and you'll see that you can add more family members in your house. You'll see new furnitures, wallpapers, and appliances. This will enhance your gameplay from the initial The Sims. :-)

This expansion pack may not be as worthy as it says. Not many new items are added. It would be better if you pick another expansion pack for The Sims. Refer to my other reviews on other expansion packs for more details. However, if you are a The Sims addict, you may want this to complete your collection.

The Sims- crazier and more addictive then ever!

Every Sim expansion pack (in my eyes) is a definite must have. And this one is no different. The first in a series of three expansion packs, the Sims Livin' Large, though it doesn't have anything THAT noteworthy, is a good expansion. In fact the only expansion with more jobs (paranormal, slacker, hacker, journalist and musical career tracks). Plus there are 4 new neighborhoods, lots of new clothes for them to wear and some really cool building tools. Also I like that there are some very cool new objects with lots of new things for them to do such as hex their roommate and a genie that though he tries, has some interesting consequences when things go wrong. Plus I like that there are a lot of ways to get skills. For example, the chemistry set and the mechanical table thingy. The chemistry set is probably my favorite new object. You get logic points and you make these cool potions that depending on what you get, something happens to you (one makes someone fall in love with you, one makes you turn into a frankenstein, one puts you in a good mood, etc.). The mechanical table thingy is where you get mechanical skill points and you carve these little gnomes, and then sell them. though some complain that its only an o.k. expansion, its a definite must have because not only does it make game-play funnier and more addictive, but it also maximizes your online downloads, which is why I gave this 5 stars.

This Really is Livin' Large!!!! =)

This is a really, really, really fun expansion pack! Build your own creepy castle, a tacky love shack, a high-tech home of the future, and more! New situations like, alien abductions, roach infestations, the grim reaper, a wish granting genie, and more than that! More neighborhoods gives you the power to create and and control up to 50 families, 40 more than the original game! Five new career tracks- 50 new jobs: hacker, paranormal, journalist, musician, and slacker! Have a robot clean up all your messes, create a Frankenstein, gaze into a crystal ball, become a rock star, and much more cool creations! There are so many more items and miscellaneous stuff, you don't know where to put it! Everything is sooooooo new, you'll go Sim crazy! Also, the moment you've all been waiting for, besides fish, you can have a hamster!! =)=) This really makes you enjoy the Sims a whole lot more with an expansion pack! Gotta get it!
