I would give this game 5 stars but I just didn't get that rush! sure it looks good but there is not enough WEAPONS! As soon as I played Robot Arena 2...I forgot about the first one! RA2 is just plain better...

We have that game at my school. My friend Justin plays it all the time. Justin likes that game. I don't have it, but I want it.

The fun does not last long

This Game is fun at first, but after about a month or so it gets boring . There are 7 opponets and arenas . Even though you can build your own robot, You are limited to too many things . After awhile you will find yourself doing the same thing over and over again. Most of the other robots are very easy to defeat and you will get bored after some time. This gives you more weapons, wheels and harder opponets. You can also go against someone on the same keyboard . All of this adds about another month to the fun, but you will still get tired of defeating the same robots over and over and you will be hungry for more action.

P.S. you should search for Robot arena Design and Destroy, you may like this game more.

No physics engine!!

This game has a great premise, but there is only one problem - there is no physics engine, meaning that you cannot push, shove, crash, flip or toss any robots which are common tactics on shows like Robot Wars. The design areas are skimpy, and the movement is sometimes jerky. All this will supposedly be fixed in the next release, "design and destroy", so that would be a better buy. But if all you want to do is pound other robots with hammers and saws, you can try this if you want to.

Robot Arena is like Robot Wars for Babies.

Robot Arena is NOT the game you'd want. The AI is nowhere near challenging, the game can be beaten in 10 minutes, not enough parts/chassis' to go through, the graphics need SERIOUS help, and the realism sucks. Even with the patch, which supposedly makes the AI harder, it's still too simple. I have mastered the game within 20 minutes. Unless you like games that a 3-year old can beat by hitting keys, don't touch this game.

Great Concept - Lousy Execution

Reasons why one should not buy this game:

1. Game is SLOW! I have an 800mhz comp. with 256Mb RAM, and a good video card. Everything about this game is slow, especially moving through the menus. So tired of seeing that jerky mouse cursor I could scream.

2. Game is boring. Real Battlebots flip upside down, fly through the air after getting hit by saws and the like. Don't expect to leave the ground. Some fake-looking smoke is all the reaction you'll get after your best attacks. YAWN....

3. Limited weapons + Limited bot types = serious lack of fun.

4. You and your family will have lots of time together while you endlessly rebuild your character and robot each time after dying. So tedious... I wish they would let you save various basic bot configurations so you don't have to rebuild each time. That's really a fun-killer.

Please don't buy this game, it really [stinks} My wife bought this for me because I like Battlebots... I played it several times and now have pretend I like it. Great concept, a fighting bot game. Too bad it's not fun.

This game is a little bit good you can kill your other team robots. but look at this and I will tell you whats good and whats bad:

Good Things

building a robot
arena harzads are cool

Bad Things

wimpy robots
no good wepons
arenas need more harzads
needs lot more work on other things I have not said.

When their 2nd game comes out in February of 2003, I hope it can be better than the first robot arena. If you want more info on this bad game or the 2nd go to robotarena.com I say the 2nd will be better

Fun for the WHOLE family!

I bought this game for my 6 year old son against the age recommendation. He absolutely loves it! In fact, my husband and I found ourselves playing it too. Although the game is not that challenging after you've figured it out, it is still fun to build the bots yourself and then test them. We fight each other too. It's great. Our 3 year old son loves to cheer and scream when we play. We've finally found a computer game that we all enjoy. We did not find the controls hard - you can use a joystick or your keyboard. We hope there will be 2nd version soon.

If they made a Robot Arena 2 with Multiplayer and a longer single player and more weapons this game would beat mechwarrior.
