A very fun game!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 2 / 3

Sonic pocket adventure is an awesome game.Anybody with a Neo Geo pocket should definately buy this game! Its levels are from sonic two( except Oil ocean zone, Hill top zone, and that cool cave zone, have all been excluded.)The level layouts are completely different this time. All though the backgrounds look the same, everything is designed differently and has different music( some of the music is from sonic 3 and sonic&Knuckles.)The bosses in this game are all brand new and are not the sonic 2 bosses. This game has a very cool feature where you search for little yellow puzzle pieces throughout the game, and try to put all the correct pieces together to try and make a complete puzzzle(there are several different puzzles)Although this game is sort of short, it is very fun to play many times( sonic games are always that way) and it is also very fun, looking for puzzle pieces. One of my favorie levels are Sky Chase zone-where you stand on a little airplane that tails(your friend)flies, and then jump on enemies( Iv'e always liked the little round guy that shoots down little spike balls with the spinning rotor on his head.) My other favorite level is The Cosmic Casino zone. I really like the background and good music, and it's very fun to go in the slot machine and get rings that way.

All in all, Sonic pocket adventure is a must have for anybody with a neogeo! Although its not as good as the original sonic 2 for genesis, it is still really good, and brings back many old memories.

My two cents

Well, to start this off I'm explaining the reason I'm not giving it a five-star rating. There's really nothing more to this game than the old Sega Genesis hedgehog. Don't really expect anything really special about this game (except the two player mode which is a VERY nice touch). I thought it would be something new and fresh out of the minds of the creators of my favorite hedgehog but alas.. I'm simply tossing this review in for anybody who might think the same way I do about this little game. If the old Sega Genesis Sonic is what you want, GO FOR IT! You'll love it. It was just sort of a let down for me personally. Thanks for your time.

I do not own this game, but I have heard good things about it, and I have seen screenshots, and I think that this game is a ripoff of "Sonic the Hedgehog 2" for the Sega Genises.

VERY GOOD!

A very fun game that you never get tired of playing! The only reason that my rating isn't 5 stars is that some of the bosses are VERY hard to beat.

Decent Old-School Sonic Gaming

I was very excited to find that Sonic Pocket Adventure was coming to the Neo Geo Pocket Color...it's just the type of game to reel in the customers, and move the NGPC out of the realm of niche gaming. That said, Sonic Pocket Adventure is a good game, but nothing earth-shattering.

First of all, the graphics are merely decent. The NGPC has a 16-bit CPU, so I was expecting Genesis-like visuals. I was disappointed. It resembles the Game Gear version of Sonic. The sound is as expected for a handheld...tinny and repetitive. Control is fairly good, although the NGPC stick's looseness will cost you a life or two. It's also a tad bit easy to finish, as the game saves your progress through the levels.

Overall? Doesn't measure up to the Genesis Sonic, but still very good nonetheless. The levels are varied, there are some innovative features, and speed like this is unprecedented for a portable system. If you are at all a fan of 2D Sonic, you should pick this game up.

A perfect copy of the original Sega Genisis game. It has plenty of features and levels. It also has Link capabilaties and secrets. One of my favorite games.

Neo Geo Rules!

This is the one game that should get people to purchase the Neo Geo and stop Nintendos monopoly. This is suprisingly just as addictive(if not more) as the classic Genesis version of Sonic 2 years ago. I only wish they would have included a few more levels.(Where's the awesome Mystic Cave?) But other favorites like Casino Night (renamed in NGPC verison)are here and just as good as I remember them. It is also very challenging. Heck, I've been playing for weeks and have only managed to get 2 out of 7 emeralds! The Puzzle pieces that are hidden throughout the game are extremely difficult to find and really add to the replay value of the game. Bottom line: This has to be one of your first three games you must buy for this system. Also recommend Bust-A-Move Pocket and SNK vs. Capcom. My little cousin was real excited about his new game boy. Now he's jealous and already asking where he can get a Neo Geo after playing a game of sonic. Buy this excellent game!

I'm playing too much Sonic...and pretty darn proud of it!

This brings back memories...the speed, the loop-de-loops, the insanity...all that good stuff you'll find in a Sonic game. Anyway, I wanted this for Christmas and now I have it! And I finally see why everyone likes this! The graphics are very kawaii (Japanese for cute), and tunes are awesome, and the gameplay is very Sonic-ish. It's also responsible for my thinking of whether I turn into Sonic or Knuckles by cold water. Hey, I was just thinking of Ranma 1/2 with Sonic in it! I love this game...to death!

A Great Game!

I'd just like to start off by saying if you dont have a NGPC Buy One! Because It's games like these that really make the NGPC shine over other hand-held systems like GBC (I have both). If you are looking for a good starter game for NGPC let this be it. In many ways it is just like Sonic 2 but with many more extras and newer levels. If you like Sonic or Sega BUY THIS GAME!
