This game is great. I will start out with that. However, notice that this is the FIRST Jedi Knight game. It is the SECOND 'Dark Forces' game. The first of which was a Doom engine like Hexen. Its graphics engine is Doom2 era and grainy as hell. I believe it has support for 1 video accelerator though I am not sure. The other pitfall of playing a classic like this is that you can not use the mouse to aim. The mouse movements are limited to left and right, still have to use keyboard for aiming. If you are okay with that then have at it. I know I have reloaded this game on my spanking system just so replay it....twice. The gameplay was great, the story was great, overall a good packe. I believe it won at leat one Game of the Year accolade when it was out.

What can I say? I was so disappointed by this game.
I love Dark Forces. I like the graphics--not as sharp as Jedi Knight, but not as 'conical' either. I enjoy the music--sure the Williams score is great, but it would have meant more to expand the Dark Forces theme instead of just lifting the sountrack (I also found the soundtrack distracting). But, more than anything, I love the storyline. Dark Forces is lively and fun, with interesting puzzles.
If I had to use one word to describe Jedi Knight, it would be "BORING." I found the game lifeless and dull. The storyline didn't involve me. I don't remember any good puzzles. And I hated trying to fight with the lightsaber (I used cheat codes to jump ahead every time I came upon a lightsaber duel).
My only complaint with Dark Forces was that they never offered an expansion pack. I'm currently installing a second OS on my computer so I can run Dark Forces again--it won't run under Windows XP.
Jedi Knight and the "Mysteries of the Sith" disk--which I never played--both went to Goodwill this last weekend.
I have no interest in "Jedi: Outcast."
And since it seems to be standard in these reviews... The Empire Strikes Back--best story, best visuals. Star Wars--great story, good action. Attack of the Clones--best action, decent visuals (more is not better), ok story. Phantom Menace--good visuals, good story. Return of the Jedi--good story.

At first glance, this game is not that great. The graphics leave a lot to be desired, even for a 1997 game, and the cutscenes are dissappointing. But once you get into the gameplay, it's an amazing game. The characters in the levels are not only challenging but the levels themselves are. Each encompasses many secret passage ways, trap doors, and hiden shortcuts. Not only must you defeat your enemies, you must beat the terrain and map, trying to find your way out. While playing this game, I found myself slashing open grates to get where I was going, crawling through ceiling vents, getting blown through tunnels by giant fans, walking through pipes ankle deep in fuel that could explode at any moment, and much more. Another great aspect of this game is the AI. These enemies carry powerful weapons like crossbows, concussion rifles, fast firing repeaters, rail guns that fire explosives that latch on to you until them explode, and of course light sabers. During the levels it was challenging but the game suprises you at the end with a climatic lightsaber fight with another jedi that is very difficult to beat. As if the single player game is not enough, try going online and challenging your friends to a lightsaber fight. Watch them cringe as you throw boxes at them using your force throw. If Jedi Knight 2 Jedi Outcast had not come out, this game would be the foremost jedi game on the market.
GREAT STORY LINE+GAMEPLAY!!!

The Graphics [are not so hot], but what do you expect? It's an old game. Quite fun, when it was newer. But, with Jedi Outcast, it's become outdated. JK2 has better Saber gameplay, cooler weapons, better graphics, and so-on, so the only thing this has left is the fact that it plays on far slower machines than JK2. But, now, JK2 simply replaces it.

The graphics are garbage in this game. You might as well have had stick figures running around. The acting in the cut scenes is also pretty bad. This game is worth getting only because of the ... price. It has ok game play and an alright plot.

This first person shooter and continues the adventures of Kyle Katarn nicely. As you make your way through complete 3-D worlds, you must stop 8T88 from giving the map of the valley of the jedi to Jerec, the new ruler of the Empire. With new weapons, force powers, and worlds, Dark Forces 2 is by far a milestone in Lucas Art's programs. This game is rated T for animated violence.
