THIS WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITE GAMES IN THE 80'S! NOT TOO HARD AT ALL To BEAT! SOME OF THE BOSSES IN THIS GAME INCLUDED THE TERMINATOR,SPIDER-MAN,BATMAN,AND GODZILLA! THIS GAME HAD IT ALL! GREAT MUSIC,GREAT STORY LINE, AND A PERFECT ENDING,IF YOU CAN SAVE YOUR GIRLFRIEND BEFORE THE WALL SMASH HER! I WOULD RECOMEND THIS TO ANYONE!

When I get a PS2, I'm a little reluctant to buy the Shinobi game for that platform. However, I will still continue to play my Shinobi games for my old Genesis. This game holds up amazingly well, even though it was released in 1989 and it's still a game that is worth purchasing, and if put in the hands of a right developer, it is worthy of a resurrection.
WHAT THE GAME IS: A side-scrolling action title in which you are a ninja named Joe Musashi and you are seeking revenge for some reason and you must rescue your girlfriend (The story is not explained much, you just kill ninjas). You kill lots of ninjas, wolves, and bosses, and even unlock characters like the Terminator, Spiderman, and Batman.
GRAPHICS: This game put many games to shame in the visuals department, even years after it was released. The 16-bit graphics are very impressive from 1989 and years that followed afterwards. The characters, levels, and just about everything looks great.
MUSIC: It feels too quiet, and isn't that great.
SOUNDS: Throwing ninja stars, hitting enemies, enemies exploding.
GAMEPLAY: This game plays very nicely and the combat feels great. But this game feels slow in comparison to the superior Shinobi III when it comes to combat because the third entry is much more fluid and impressive in combat (Which is why I gave it a near-perfect rating). But this game has great and responsive controls, cool combat, cool bosses, cool weapons, and cool unlockables.
OVERALL: It is a great addition to the Genesis library and definitely worth investing in. But Shinobi III is more recommendable because it's more awesome. But this game has enough in it to still be great even in it's near-twenty-year-age. This game still delivers thrills and still has an ability to impress anyone who plays it.
THE GOOD: Good graphics, great controls and combat, still manages to be awesome.
THE BAD: Doesn't play as fast as Shinobi III, the music isn't that great.
