WWII Flying Experience

This first person cockpit game is very indepth. I have had several other flying games that only touched the surface of the flying experience but this one really delved into the total flying chalenge. You can either fly a real wartime mission that has every true detail of a historic attack or call up a quick mission [my personal favorite] that you can choose to fly any of the Russian or German aircraft that were in commision at the time of the war against any of the opposing sides armor including ground weapons giving the whole experience a new level of both difficulty and enjoyment. The actual flying details are so realistic that it makes you feel that you are actually in control of a real aircraft. I would recomend to purchase this game for anyone that finds first person flying exciting and enjoyable.

Now this is a flight sim!The Planes look incredible and have a tramendous amout of detail!This game realy makes you feel like your flying in world war 2!And fighting off the Nazi army.But this game does take a whole lot of space and a fast computer.But i dont have that problem.This game can be very difficolt if you dont read the instrution manual.This game has great graphics and excelent scenery. but a close line of sight.Meaning you cant see but only a few kilomiters ahead of you wich makes finding the runway to land on very difficult.But overall this is still the best flight sim ive every played and i have like 8 others and they dont even compare!BUT YOU REALY WANT TO USE A JOYSTICK WITH THIS GAME!!! I hope this was helpfull

I love flight simulation games and I love WWII flight games... Yet i am disapointed that this game does not meet the standards of a decent Flight simulator game... the graphics aren't that great and the enemy fighters are so easy to shoot down it takes the honor out of victory... However due to the lack of WWII simulation games I guess this will have to do~

Well - I wrote a review of this game over a year ago (shown below). After having played many combat flight simulations and then trying Il2 Sturmovik out, I have to say that it is, hands-down, among the best combat flight sims I've ever played.

I received Il2 Sturmovik just about on the day of its release (thanks to the very reliable and expedient service of Amazon.com!!). Since then, this is what I've found:

The game designer and his staff are passionately dedicated to Il2 Sturmovik, and have released a number of excellent patches which have corrected the initial problems that this game had. Also, today's computer and graphics technology can more than easily run this game at its full settings - and it runs very smoothly, without any stutter! Because of these patches and the support of a large fan base, I have made Il2 Sturmovik the only PC game that I ever play now.

The level of detail, challenge, strategy, and plain old excitement of this game is well-worth the price, and then some. Online gaming is a real treat as well, where you can test your skills against human opponents from all over the world. The graphics are a delight for the eye; the clouds and cockpit are the most detailed and realistic that I've ever had the pleasure to see. The sound - well, I still think some of the sounds could be improved but this is not a major problem at all.

In short - if you want to try out a combat flight simulator - get Il2. It's tough for the beginner because it truly attempts to model airplane flight. But once you have the hang of it, the sky's the limit with the amount of fun you can have with this game.

This game has to be seen to believe. Download the free demo for a closer look. You will want the full game. If you are a newbie or a expert this flight simulator has something for you.
I was blown away by the awesome graphics and realism. With major website support, you can't run out of missions, even if you finish the ones supplied. There are so many adjustments to the game you can make it work on just about any system.
The depth of this game is just incredible.

Couple it with a force feedback joystick and you have realism that can't be beat.

IL-2 Holds its Own to Current Games

IL-2 is by far the best flight simulator ever created. The graphics in it are very competitive with current games(eight years later). This WWII simulator offers missions with every country involved in the war. The graphics on the planes and artillery is very realistic. The cockpits are the closest you can get to being in a real plane. However, compared to other simulators it seems very hard. This is because it is so realistic. IL-2 1946 Sturmovik is by far the best combat simulator ever produced and will continue to be a hit for many years.
