Help I am stuck in a Child's Game

I purchased the 2 Oracle games for my 10 year old. I usually play them with him so that I can help through the rough spots and also because I enjoy strategy games. I have been stopped cold in both of these games by the various puzzles that require solving before you can move on. It is almost impossible to win the dance contest for the boomerang in the Seasons game and I have not been able to shoot enough crystals in the cart game or enough fairies in the target game or do the dance moves to get the mermaid keys. There should be a way around these puzzles. If adults have a hard time completing them how can children? My son has already lost interest and I am out [$]. Has anyone else had these problems?

It was ok, but Seasons was better.
Interesting, but confusing.

This game plays well for those who have followed the Zelda Saga, however, for the few who purchased the game without having played the others, boss battles were extremely difficult because few hints are provided. It is suggested that this game is more puzzle based than the Seasons variant, and I agree. It was good enough that I played it all the way through, and the secret system it uses is interesting, and enough to warrent playing the other game to enjoy those rewards. I would be happier, though, if more clues were dropped here and there to make boss fights less of a shot in the dark to those of us who've never encountered them on other Zelda games.
Not as good as expected

I started my Zelda collection during the Oracle series, and own both Ages and Seasons. I have beaten Seasons, and have not even beaten Ages, but can already tell that it is not as good.
The gameplay is not as good as in Seasons, hinting to me that Ages was released first, tested, and Seasons was refined accordingly. One thing I noticed right away in the game is that compared to Seasons, many of the people you talk to are very rude. It almost made me not want to talk to any of the people, but of course, you can't beat it that way. Many of the people in Seasons, on the other hand, were pleasant to talk to and gave you useful information.
I also thought that only providing two ages limited the perspective of the game, as seasons lets you experience the landscape in four seasons, making the gameplay more interesting.
I would suggest buying both games if you can afford it, but my suggestion is to play Seasons first if you want to start out with the better one, and Ages if you want to start out with the lesser one.

Nintendo have used the same link up system in Zelda that they did in Pokemon to boost sales. I dont know why anyone can complain though both games are EXCELLENT. YOu likk between the two and enter passwords to gain exclusive access in the games, to finish of the game completely. Both games are independant, but they the concept of weapon swopping and transferingof data make this game more appealing. The games can be played in either otrder, the only thing i will say is that you need to own both copies as this game is so good.(as no doubt you will see when you play it)
3 1/2 stars really

the good:
- you have to think. Usually the puzzle is mind-boggling, but when you actually figure it out, you say "oooooh, why didn't I think of that before?!"
- Travelling back and forth between times was a good idea, and Nintendo had the sense to put portals within reasonable distance from all points. This gets even easier as you learn different songs later in the game.
- The dungeons are challenging without making you want to rip your hair out.
The So-So:
- The animal companion. It doesn't do much that I can see, but I've only had one (Dimitri, the sea dragon/fish thing.)I've used him twice, and yeah, he's cute, but you don't get much mileage out of him. On the plus, they actually have some firepower, and don't just roll over and die with one hit.
- The graphics. Now, I'm rating this against other handhelds' graphics, not the PS2. They're pretty, but just ok, when I know Nintendo has to capabilities to make beautiful graphics.
The Bad:
- most of the bosses are easy once you figure out the trick (which is also usually easy). Sometimes it takes as few as 6 hits to bring one down, and the minibosses are even worse. This doesn't mean you won't get killed, it just means you'll be more frustrated when you do beat them.
- the idea of 4-8 aspects of nature (fire, water, ice, thunder, wind, earth, darkness, and holy, usually) is REALLY OLD, as are "themed" worlds (a town covered in fire, for example, and an underwater city.)
Good, but not spectacular. Oracle of Ages is a solid addition, but nothing new.
The series just get better with every new game!!!!

I like Ages because it has lots of puzzles. I love puzzles better than fighting, so I chose this game as a favorite beacuse the storyline is really clear and has great sounds and graphics. I'm not saying Seasons is bad, though. The best part in when you link up, because you really get more out of your games. I would recommend Ages to anyone that loves puzzles.
Not as enjoyable as Seasons, but still good

Like the title says, this game isn't quite as good as its companion The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons, nor is either of them magic in quite the same way Link's Awakening was, but it's still worth playing, especially as part of the pair. Link one again plays time traveler, using a harp and 3 different melodies to transport himself between the past and future of Labrynna, a land where he has been sent by the Triforce to save the missing Oracle of Ages. As he journeys through the similar but different landscapes of the 2 time periods, he will meet new friends and enemies, and face mindbending puzzles and challenging dungeons on his way to stop Veran, Sorceress of Shadows. The biggest problem with this game is that sometimes the challenge becomes frustrating, with no way to ease up on the level difficulty. Redeeming features inclue interesting people, and the collectible and very useful magic Rings. In addtion, the game connects with Seasons for a continuing double-length adventure leading up to the ultimate battle with an old foe. All in all, it's more than worth the price.

While no one can argue that Oracle of Ages is the best game ever, it's not quite the most original game ever made. Many of the features, such as switching between past and present, were already available in A Link to the Past, by switching between the Light and Dark world. 90% of the items are rehashes of the SNES classic as well. Even the monsters are rehashed. The game itself has some great design, but loses something for lack of originality. On the plus side, the boss fights are admittedly pretty creative. I recommend Ages over it's counterpart, Seasons.

A good game but a bad idea to make it for olny game boy color. Oh whell, guess I'll have to trash my pocket and get an advance.
