Only read if you want to know about Ethan & a cool cheat!

This game was okay. The reason I didn't like it was because there was only seven levels (It says on the box eight levels, but that must be a typo.) I beat them all in a matter of hours. If there was more levels, this would be an awesome game. I loved how in the beginning, the levels were pretty easy, and then, they got harder. I was mad that you don't fight Ethan, though. The last one you defeat is a dragon. He was hard. He takes your health away very quickly. Other than the bad graphics and the short amount of levels, this was an awesome game! [Hint: This is a risky cheat. (You can do this without getting hit.) I beat the vampires by going as far as possible to the end of the screen (facing that direction.) Then wait for them to go as far as possible to the end of the screen (the end that you're at.) Then, do a LOW KICK to make the vampire fall, and as quickly as possible stake them.] Thank you for reading this. I hope you understand why I picked this rating and I hope you say that this did help you! Thanks a million!

I'm so disappointed!

This game lacked substance. It played just like a mini version of the t.v. show, which sounds like a good idea, but the creators were completely unable to pull it off. Between levels, there are long dialogues between the characters which set up a plot line. After the dialogues, Buffy goes to patrol and, of course, is attacked by vampires. Unlike the t.v. show, Buffy only fights vampires. I was hoping for some vicious demons to shake things up, but no such luck. The game lacks choices. There are no weapons and you follow an arrow which points out the next vampire. The graphics and action are awful. Sometimes when fighting a vamp, you don't know if you are successfully hitting it or not. I would recommend this only if you are a hardcore Buffy fan.

A Bit Let Down....But It Was All Fun

I must admit, the game was kind of a letdown. You go through similar Sunnyale settings and kill differently dressed vampires. It was kind of interesting to see what the vampire would be dressed like next, and some had more "powers" than others. There are two exceptions to the vampires. There were monsters that seemed to be covered in mud of some sort, and at the end, you fight a very big demon. He's the final boss, but it only took one stake to get him. And originally, stakes don't kill demons, but they kept it simple.

The controls were kind of difficult, but as the game went along, you got used to it. You would have to get the vampire on the ground, kneel down, and then stake him. But you have to be at a certain point near them to where you can stake them. I found it easy to get them cornered in one side of the screen, then take them down and stake them.

The graphics are what you would expect from Gameboy Color. Nothing extravagant. The backgrounds are pretty nice though, and it was great to see the Hyena exhibit -- complete with red glowing eyes -- in the Sunnydale Zoo. The storyline is this: Ethan Rayne (A well-known villain in Sunnydale) has returned to Sunnydale to retrieve The Book of Ancients. A very powerful book that will be used -- by Ethan -- to open the Hellmouth. The book is only known by vampire covens from around the world (Which explains the differently dressed vampires) which must be present at the opening of the Hellmouth.

The characters from Buffy in the game were Buffy (of course), Giles, Willow, Xander, and Anya. Although the Initiative is one of the levels, Riley was nowhere to be seen. There are also guest appearances by Cordelia and Angel.

All in all, the game could've been more difficult and took me longer to play. But you do get hooked on trying to kill the Ninja Vamps...or the European Top Hat Vamps...or the Egyptian Lady Vamps...or the...

If You ever seen The TV Show Buffy The Vampire Slayer then you know how exciting it is. The Game is just as exciting. You travel around with Buffy and the scooby gang crossing many demons, vampires, and even a few cordettes during your journey. This game will definitly keep you hooked. You become Buffy herself and it's almost like you are in the tv show. The best is when you kill the vampire and he turns the dust. That, of course, is a classic buffy move. With the Stake, Crossbow, and much more. Defeat the minions of evil, move from level to level and proove to everyone that you have what it takes to be a Vampire Slayer. Hey, you never know, you could be the next Buffy!

Buffy kickes ...

I'm a big fan of " Buffy The Vampire Slayer". So when I heard from my friend that he bought the game on GAMEBOY color, I knew I had to have it. When I read the reviews about the game I didn't feel convinced, but I got in anyway. The game is really great . The stages are fun to play and the best part is that you get to control Buffy the Chosen One. The game is really easy, all you do is press the down pad, B then approach the vampire & stake it. I'm going to be generous and tell you the password that will help you finish the game: BNPXZ9. I hope you'll enjoy staking vampires, killing Ethan the trouble maker, and have a chance at dusting the dragon that controls all Evil. If you are a Buffyholic then I advise you to buy this game, because it is Action-Packed Buffy episodes for fans on the GO!

A must-have for fans of the show

The game is very faithful to the excellent t.v. series, and if you're a fan, you'll appreciate the little details in the cut scenes between the action. The graphics could be better, but it's all about action. The backgrounds are pretty cool, and I thought it was a nice touch that sometimes Buffy walks behind an object, such as a tree. Overall, a satisfying action game.

It's pretty good.

I liked the game a lot, I didn't like the way my thumbs looked after performing a lot of Buffy's fighting moves. OUCH! There could have been a better variety of vampires and demons (there were no demons). I liked the plot line a lot. Some of the later vampires are too powerful and recover too fast. It would have been better if they had let Buffy power up throughout the game as well. All hardcore Buffy fans will love it though!

Not what I expected

I thought this was a really great game, but not exactly what I expected. I thought that there would be more of a challenge to kille the vampires/demons, but it was all very easy. You just have to kick and punch them a few times, then stick your stake into them and continue. It was a very fun game, and I would recommend it to any Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans or Tomb Raider fans.

I was so disappointed in this game. I am a huge Buffy fan, so naturally I bought it. When you first get it, it's like, cool, you fight vampires. But that is ALL you do. The only other thing there is are cartoons that you read before each level. The "levels" consist of differently dressed vampires. I found that it was difficult to move Buffy at times, and buttons to move are not well designed--to stake, you have to hav ethe vampire on the ground, press the down key and the A key at the same time to do the act that is the entire point of the game! Granted, there are only so many combinations that can occur, but they could have been placed better. Anyway, unless you really REALLY want to sit around and get frustrated at a little vampire that seems to be draining your energy for no reason, I recommend this game, otherwise, don't wast your money.

Not exactly what I had hoped for, but overall fun

I am a very big Buffy fan... I've got posters of the cast everywhere and I've barely missed any episodes! I was really excited when I heard a game was coming out so I got it. I was a little disappointed that it was coming out for gameboy instead of N64 or something, but oh well. Anyway, the game was really fun at first, but it is really hard to see the screen because it's dark and it doesn't light up, so I had to play under my lamp! The comics were pretty cool and kind of humorous, although I wish you would have more choice as to what you could say (you role-play Buffy, this is an RPG.) There was nothing else to do besides fighting vampires and bosses at the end of each level, and as the levels get higher you die a lot because it gets way too hard in my opinion. Well I am a big buffy fan, but not a big fan of this game, this is one of those games that I'd play every once and awhile when I'm bored. I suggest getting this game at your nearby Blockbuster or else don't waste your 30 bucks.
