Blue Shift is pretty good

*Sighs.* Here's the same reviews as in the other half-life games. "It doesn't work good with my computer." "The game is to slow." "It's to short!" First of all let me remind all of you that this is an expansion. It's not like it's gona be as long as half-life. It would be nice if it was, but it's not. So live with it! Blue Shift is a add on! It's a game that you can buy if you want to hear a different side of the original game, or if you don't than go look else where. You still get the same action. And when you get less guns, it makes it more intense. Imagine having only a magnum in a group of aliens. People get mad cause you continuisly die in the game. their's a reason why their's a reload button and a save button their people. And Once again I will say that half-life has to run on a good computer. Check the requirements that are needed. It is challanging rather or not anybody wants to admit. Of course not as challanging as half life and opposing force but get over it. Like I said IT'S A EXPANSION PACK!!! LET'S ALL SAY IT TOGETHER "EXPANSION PACK!" it's not gona be long. but for those want to look into the eyes of a security guard in the black mesa, than this is the game for you. And besides the price is good for the game. i'm sad to see it is so cheap now. but it's been out for a long time so i can realize that as time flies by, so do prices. And let's all say it again "IT'S A EXPANSION PACK". it's not gona be as long. *rolls her eyes.*

If u liked HALF-LIFE#1, buy this game because u will luv it. U will also c spots from the first game's levels. a MUSTHAVE for HALF-LIFE players!!Buy it!!

that was my expression as I beat teh game...no end boss, no new weapons, this game just doesn't feel like opposing force or teh original half life, at 10 bucks I'd suggest buying it if only for the high res pack and a quick run through the levels, but the game itself isn't that good, its not much combat mostly puzzles until the last 2 levels.

My advice stands as: Buy it if only for the high res pack packaged in but dont expect much from teh game.

I had to have this game. The graphics are slightly improved and the story is pretty cool, but it was definitley too short and no where near as challenging as it's predecessors. I would probably give this closer to 3 1/2 stars, but because it was part of Half-Life, which I believe is the FPS ever, I got it. Reliving some of the things that happened in the previous games was great and brought back good feelings, but it all ended too quickly. Still, the cut scenes and the story carried this one through. If the price would drop, this woudl be a no brainer.

I love this game and opposing force wich comes with it. And the HD pack makes both games much more enjoyable by improving their graphics and sound. The controls and gameplay are also very good and detailed and the sound is nice and clear. The weapons are realistic also. Blue shift is more of a run run shoot 'em up compared to opposing force wich has many obstacles(toxic waste, electricity, fire etc..) and puzzles (gears, levers, buttons, boxes and elevators)to get around and solve. I highly reccomend this!! But beware if u hate blood or misplaced bones but there is content control (hint, hint for u overprotective parents)

-Those running eyeball aliens are really annoying (doesnt hurt the game i just had to say it.

This game stinks so bad, it is nothing like the original Half Life, or even Opposing Force. You better off getting Max Payne it is more realistic and lasts longer. This game took me 1 hour to beat. Now that really was not worth the money I spent.

I got this game for Christmas, it took me 45 minutes to complete. It was like a shareware at retail full game prices. All I have to say is this one is real bad. Get Op-force instead.

BLUE SHIfT would have been more appropriate without the 'F"

I bought this from (the internet), installed it on a new Dell Dimension 8200 running the latest version of Windows 2000. After installing it I tried to run it...Nothing apparent happened. I watched the processes in Task Manager and noticed that the BLUE SHIfT process activated then immediately terminated. I uninstalled then reinstalled and still had the same problem. I have all the other Half-Life products and they all run. I contacted Tech Support and they told me in be sure I had all the latest drivers. I checked and did have the latest patches for he video, audio and CD-ROM. I forwarded Sierra a copy of my system information file from Computer Management. Their reply to me was they could offer no more suggestions and to return the product. That really (ticked) me off. To me there reply was a cop-out. In addition, I now have to pay return shipping on a product that is a piece of ... From now on I am going to get the pirate versions of Sierra's products off the Internet and try them. If they can't support their products I refuse to pay for the, Time to fly the Jolly Rodgers..

Great for hard-core HLers

Blue Shift can be summed up in one word: Short. But there are some things that make the game more than just that. One of them is the HD Pack, which virtually gave away to the ugly-faced NPCs and replaced them with better looking models. But there is one thing Gearbox needs to correct. On the back of the box that shows the improved model of the alien slave, thats not the model in HL HD pack, thats from the PS2 version of HL. Other than that, everything else looks good. The next great thing about Blue Shift is that you get to play as the security guard. Ive always wondered from the HL days what the guard had to go thru to get out. And third, it tells the story of how the whole ailen incident got started, before Lambda Core was built, and the "incident". All in all, Blue Shift is good. But its only for people who are toltal fans of HL.

This game is very disappointingly short...there is no excuse to charge $30 for a game I can finish in a night. On the other hand, it's Half-Life and the game was fun to play. Wait for this one to drop in price.
