Learning Curve Too Steep

I have been into combat Fltsims for 10 years and have good equipment, a Dell P3-500. I loved the original SU27 but this one has me buffaloed. I have been into this game about two hours a day for the last ten days. When I lose the enemy on radar I can never find him again. Other than shooting an enemy a distance with a missile, I have lost all my fights. SU27 2.0 needs a cheat screen like some other sims have that enable the user to simplfy the radar, etc. I'm out of it until a patch is available to do that. 2.0 has a lot going for it but I don't want to make a career of finding out how to make it work. The manual offers minimal help. Rotsaruck if you buy it, unless you are more of a wizard than I am.

This is the best combat flight sim. Period.

I can recommend this to anyone, even total novice. The hardcore user is gonna be blown away with the realism and fidelity. Well done SSI Flying Legends!

A must have.

I don't buy many computer games because I find I lose interest after playing a while. Flanker 2.0 is different. It's level of complexity is just right for me...for performing various tasks, because your opponents are very, very good. I have never flown a fighter, don't expect to; but I'd say this is pretty realistic. And even on the VERY minimal system I have (Celeron 500, 64M 8M AGP card) the frame rate is sort of acceptable (though for large missions it tends to be jerky). I'm actually considering buying a real graphics card just for this game. I've already bought a joystick, just to play this game - strapped for cash as I am ! If you like flight sims, I'd say BUY THIS ! I'm impressed!

Truly Amazing

One I was getting this game I was a little edgy. But when I got it I loved it. It is the best by a long shot. You fly Russia's Finest planes (the SU-27, and Naval version SU-33) When I got it I changed the HUD to English but after a while I changed it to russian and even downloaded the Russian Voice and learning it is cake.

Well here's my 2 cents. In this game you can do everything take off from carriers shot the Americans. And also it has something every good game has! An execellent Editor! And SSI supports this game and the Patches are always something to look forward to and if you get this game you could look foward to the 2.5 add-on including the MIG-29K naval version. And this game has excellent graphics.

And my favorite part is that I haven't found one bug! not one! .

Please buy this game.

Thanks for your time

I'm not getting paid for saying this, but Flanker 2 is without doubt the most realistic flight sim there has ever been! From the jaw-dropping landscapes to presentation of individual aircraft this Russian based game has to be played to be believed. With full support provided by SSI (the manufacturer)( ), this is a must have.

Simply The BEST!

I got Flanker just 3 days ago, and the first impression was it was hard to fly and manage, because ofcourse i didn't read the manual. But my first impression of the game was WOW! the graphics are amazing! I have never seen graphics in sims like this with excellent frame rates. Even your enemies aircraft have moving parts! full moving control surfaces! i was amzed when i saw it..I was on a F-15 six, ready to burn him, when i got realy close, i saw his elevators move just like the real thing! Its awesome! then I read the manual, not all of it, and then went back to combat! It is beautiful! THIS IS A MUST GET!

Preserved all the realism of Flanker 1.x plus 1. New 3D graphics and terrian 2. New planes and objects to shoot at 3. Carrier operations 4. Online training missions with voice-overs 5. New weather effects including 3D clouds and fog effects

Don't waste your money

I am disappointed in the lack of clarity in the instructions. In comparison to Falcon 4.0--this sim's main competitor--Flanker can't keep up. Flanker needs to go back to the drawing board and make this game easier to learn. Falcon has a very structured training course, and a logically written manual; this one doesn't.
