Suffers from the basic sequel mediocrity

The story line on this game is extremely boring and unimaginative. To top it off, they changed (for the worse) the best features of FFVII. For instance, magic has been completely redone, in a horrible, horrible way. The graphics ARE amazing though, so if all you want is eye candy, then this is the title for you!

Sorry Square

I was anticipating this game since the ff7. I'm also sorry to say that it was the biggest let down i'v ever had. The game graphicly is astounding, the fmvs and charactor designe is spectacular. The mini pocketstation game was a nice touch, but thats where it stops. The game itself is losely strug together with no real central plot. The music is below par (except for the chocobo song)and often gets anoying durring play. The battles draw on and on litteraly. the draw magic system is horrible! most boss battles are spent drawing the magic from the enimies taking usually over 30 minutes. I never beat the game because i was too board by the final disk. If you really want a great RPG then buy Grandia, Lunar SSS or the sims. So in ten words or less: Square you could have done a lot better. *sorry for the typos*

FF8 is a great game. It has pretty good graphics. There are two stories to the game. The story of Squall is a lot better than Laguna's. Thankfully there is more of Squall then Laguna. the sound is ok,and the game definetly deserves 5 stars.

In a world of turmoil and war, six friends rise up to destroy a sorceress bent on world domination. The nation of Galbadia is a dictatorship with a leader who wants to enslave the whole world. Balamb is a peace-loving nation, but enlists an army of SeeDs to fight the Galbadians. SeeDs are soldiers specially trained at Gardens to fight sorceresses of the world, and to act as mercenaries for the highest bidders. Squall is a teenager who has just become a SeeD along with his two friends Zell and Selphie. They team up with Quistis and Irvine, and Rinoa, a mysterious girl with links to Squall's past. These six must defeat Galbadia, Seifer (Squall's rival), and Ultamecia, a sorceress from the future. But along the way, they must solve the mystery of Laguna, Kiros, and Ward, soldiers in a dream-like world that the heroes fall into from time to time. This game has endless side quests, and a cool battle engine, where you can customize just about every detail of your characters by junctioning magic to their stats. This is a game of epic proportions, that will have you hooked.
P.S.
A game of epic proportions deserves a battle of epic proportions, and this game has two. One is with Ultima Weapon, who is hard, but not impossible. The other is with Omega Weapon, who, if taken lightly, will crush you in the first minute.

FF8 does not get enough credit.

Many fans of the FF series have shunned this game, because of loose plot ends, etc. But it is extremely rare to find an RPG that DOESN'T have loose plot ends. And actually, if it hadn't have been pointed out to me, I wouldn't have even noticed them.

The characters are wonderful, the plot is wondeful, and so is the music and the gameplay controls are easy to get the hang of. The magic/GF system looks a bit intimidating at first, but the in-game tutorials are really helpful for a new player.

If you are looking for an adventure, this is it. If you are looking for an entertaining way to spend some time, this is it. I spent probably 20+ hours just on the Triple Triad mini-game and I have replayed the game countless times. If you get the whole experience of the FF world, you are looking at at LEAST 50+ hours of gaming.

This is one of my favorite RPGs of all time, and I highly recommend it, and highly encourage you to look past the hype and criticism and give it your own opinion.

This is a fantastic game that I would reccomend to anyone who owns a computer and likes RPGs! This game Keeps up a great story, holds the quality of the earlier final fantasy games and even puts them to the test. The ability to Junction Guardian Forces to your charactors truly allows you to customize them to your own individual playing style. Its awesome graphics and intense videos draw you in and keep you in. It has a great and unique story line with a futureistic theme and the age group is different from alot of the other games. Some would argue that Final Fantasy VII is the best final fantasy ever, I say VIII all the way.

This game is one of the best video games of all times and shouldn't be gunned down by people. I do admit that they made a mistake when they ported the game to PC but it is still a masterpiece worth respecting. The ciniam is gorgous the gameplay is spectacular and the story is spell bounding. A must buy!

There is no way I can describe this game perfectly because it was SO awesome and well conceived that I would never be able to think of the words....This game is superior because of it's beautiful FMV's(Full Motion Video), mind-blowing storyline, and this game just makes u love it so much because it TRUELY does grab you and make u want to express your feelings towards the game...The characters just make your emotions soar and you will want to be happy, sad, mad, or whatever happens at that time...in a good way....The graphics have been toned down a little compared to the PSX but that in no way would make me rate this game lower than all 5 stars...PLEASE get this game....because u will want to play once u get your hands on it....and u may never want to stop playin...this is the best game I have EVER played(FF7 is my second best game played)....it is brillant and please do yourself a favor....and get this game.....Let the story begin...

A buy for the fans.

Final Fantasy VIII was ok. It had great movie scenes, but an AWFUL battle system. It takes at least 20 minutes to complete a battle and thats just for one bad guy! I bought this game thinking I'm going to love it. I was wrong. My advice don't get it unless you're desprate for a game and I mean desprate!!!
